‘We aren’t happy’: Australians ‘frustrated’ amid cost of living crisis

- Sky News host Paul Murray says the cost of living crisis is causing more Australians to be “frustrated” and “discombobulated”.
According to data released by Finder, credit card spending hit an all-time high of $35.5bn in January 2024.
The report also found that four per cent of credit card holders had increased their limit to afford a more expensive lifestyle.
“About half of the country believes we are headed in the wrong direction,” Mr Murray said.
“Most people assume that to be the economy, but I think if we are being really honest it is about literally everything, it is about society, it is about values, a whole collection of things.”
Why aren't they happy? Being bled dry, they're on their way to own nothing and we are being told that's the key to happiness.
All these 🐑 don't realise all of o.u.r so called leaders in most countries are w. E.f
Is this all by design to crush the middle class ?
Because that's what it's doing 😮
the Immigration Crisis is causing a lot of problems
It was happening before then.
Yep but everyone wanted to call the politicians who call d it out in the 90s ‘racist’
Now they get to learn their lesson
Wait for the rapes and other crimes to take over. Import the third world become the third world. Races of people are not the same. Imagine if I claimed all breeds of dog were the same in every way? I would be laughed at. Wake up Australia
Wait till they bring their twenty family members over.
Who are immigrants in Australia?
The last 5 years Australia has lost its way
Its sooo much different now its sad
Australians voted for this, and will continue to vote for this according to the recent by-elections.
@@jackmorganfiftyfivethat is so sad.
5 years ago it was f*ucked
@@jackmorganfiftyfive no mate, there's no difference between the two parties. Both take orders from the big corporations and international bankers. We don't live in a democracy, that's why they keep fucking us no matter how we vote
5 years?
Nah; Australia fell around 2000. It has really been shit from about then
Many of those Australians complaining about the steep rise in the cost of living will, of course, continue to vote Labor. All in the vain hope that Albanese & Co. will listen to them.
I haven't voted labour or liberal the last 3 elections. It's been one nation. Once labour, once liberal.
Liberal is no better, look at the robo debt , went after innocent people
Those are the same Australians who shelled out thousands $$$ to see Taylor Swift. Lots of people with lots of money from property deals out there...
The point is it does not matter who you vote for if you only have a preference for 1 of 2 options. They will use mandatory voting laws and the election cycle to bullshit their way into doing nothing. And who are they taking this advice from? From unelected staffers with dubious credentials.
Vote one nation
Where ever Albo goes, misery follows
In my cluture we call him a black crow

Bottom line: Australia is incapable of ACTUALLY dealing with its housing crisis. Too busy patting your own the backs as "The Lucky Country." Hint - this ends very badly economically and socially.
Just talk to your mates on the mobile....."she'll be right!"
Vote 1 nation and stop the insanity
Hanson has not been able to organise her party into one that could be useful in government. If there's a real conservative party out there Australians won't vote for it. Face it.. the Australian electorate are hard left green NIMBY virtue signallers who will vote for Labor, Teals, Greens and Independents.
This will not happen as many new commers are from 3rd world countries and they always vote the Labor, sorry but Australia grew up the most during the "white policy" time.
Close the immigration floodgates and most of the problems will get alot better
deportations is on the cards, we were never asked
When we give the next 100 million to Ukraine the weather should get gooder and the e safety commisioner will make it safest as safe.
It’s part of the plan.
My recent power bill was up by $250 compared to my power bill the same period last year and for the same amount of power. I'm in Queensland and this is just becoming simply unaffordable. It's only myself and my wife in a 2 bedroom apartment and we are both fairly energy use conscious. Do Origin think I'm smelting iron ore in my home office or something?. Sheesh! What makes it hurt even more is that our Government are forcing us to pay for their ideological "green energy" folly while flogging off our vast natural gas resources overseas for peanuts so that other nations can benefit from them. Either this is the definition of stupid. or our Governments have declared war upon us.
I think it’s called treason!
It is called Tree-son!
YT don’t like my reply, don’t like you to use the tree & sun word.
Australia is doomed. To many people now,Australia is a big country, similar to the size of the USA but alot of Australia is unlivable, everyone lives on the coast...nowhere else to expand...The last couple of years I have actually thought about leaving Australia
So Australian government spending thousands of taxpayers dollars on advertising they are saving taxpayers dollars with tax cuts. The rising cost of living also hits pensioners hard as they don’t have a way to increase their income. If the government was serious they would reduce or eliminate GST on fuel which would reduce the living costs of everyone.
People need to know we are helping them so they will vote for us again. 😜

We? No not me
And its from third world countries with vadtly different cultures
Currently looking for a van to live in but even those have gone through the roof in price thanks to the demand of people moving into cars
We are on our knees but Albo can let more immigrants in?!
Just wait. They will all soon be bringing in their twenty family members over.
Because aussies are lazy and dont want to work.
If 'not happy' means hoping for rebellion, then yes, Im eureka flag waving not happy.
The system is working exactly as intended
Bring immigration to 30,000 per yr! Labor must close the flood gates!

How long till a Indian PM? This place is fucked

You can imagine my surprise as a New Zealander to hear so many y people in Australia are struggling. We get daily articles about kiwis moving to Australia for a better life, and achieving it relative to what they had back in NZ. Clearly things are a struggle in both countries for so many.
It is a cost of taxation crisis
Increase wages = more tax
Increase prices = more gst
Then add indirect tax's , land tax, fuel tax's stamp duty asked on to consumers
Also reduction in services such as police increasing cost of insurance
Wouldn’t be so bad if taxes were voluntary.

It used to worry me, but not any more,
Building insurance under Strata has gone up 53%. That's ridiculous. Australia is a place where there is no control over anything - let it be neighbour behaviour / cost of living / insurance / help from police / domestic violence and so on

Thank you.
The risk averse lived in a bubble for most of the COVID Pandemic. Informed decision-making under uncertainty went out the window during lockdown. These essential members of society are still missing in action. Who is left to run the show? People who are prepared to pay a very high premium for a very low return.
I work 2 jobs earning over $100000 raising 3 kids on my own. I cannot get ahead. It depresses me. I have nothing to show for my hard work. I cannot afford to go on a holiday. I need a new car but I cannot afford the car repayments. I worry about my quality of life when I am older. If I do not have good health in my old age and cannot look after myself. I will consider voluntary assisted dying instead of being a burden on my family. I would rather die than be put in an aged care facility. The future for divorced women over 50 is depressing. I will be poor despite having a good paying job.

Grim Jim's Surplus's are achieved on the detriment of family budgets. Basically - tax everything. Grim's on a free ride, making himself look good at our expense.
LOVE THAT ADD!
I understand inflation exists - increase in rent, groceries, fuel etc, and immigration is an issue. However, people also need to take accountability for their financial choices, and that accountability is not spoken about within mainstream media. For example, choices such as credit card debt, car payments (commonly 2 cars within families), buying groceries (in addition to the amount of rubbish food/drink) at Woolies or Coles because it's convenient, rather than finding a cheaper store alternative such as 'Fresh n Save', buying material possessions which you don't need (and using methods such as 'Afterpay') - These are examples which are making people broke, and causing financial hardship. Yes, housing prices have soared, and yes over population is causing supply and demand issues... but when are people going to stop blaming the government, and take responsibility?
Look, to all those complaining, the cost of living crisis is insignificant compared to domestic violence, OK?
No, it isn't. You've got your priorities wrong. Food on the table, a roof over one's head and not living in tents are more important issues.
@@jackmorganfiftyfive tongue in cheek. I know it isn’t the most important, it is being treated as if it is by Albo etc.

I don't believe half the country thinks we're heading in the right direction , what a load of BS !

All mainland governments are run by Labor with significant input from the Greens. THAT is how Australia votes...

@@leeevans2929 We are in a global economy, our economy is intertwined with other Western countries experiencing exactly the same issues of cost of living and inflation. The idea that in isolation we can bring down interest rates and there is some magic bullet is nonsense. Libs and Labor are two cheeks of the same backside as are the Republicans and Democrats. It's all about printing more money and spending it on getting re elected. The system is broken and we are drowning in debt both Government and the population.
