- Sky News host Paul Murray says the cost-of-living issue continues while Albanese spends $172 million on political ads and $400 million on “brand new planes”.
“Cost-of-living still the number one issue, has been since this government came to be and it remains so two years after,” Mr Murray said.
“While the prime minister is spending $172 million on ads to pump his own tyres and $400 million on brand new planes … a survey of 1,500 of the Salvation Army’s financial service clients found two-thirds were often going without food so their children could eat.”
All taxpayer funded political adds should be banned. If the government wants to promote their BS, the party in government should have to pay for their own self-promoting ads.
All political donations should also be banned. If the government has control of the purse strings, then there is no need for political donations, and people/companies don't generally donate for altruistic reasons, so accepting donations is to invite and accept corruption. I don't accept that political parties can act impartially when they have accepted money from donors.

I think tax payer money should only be used with a limit on it, because I rather the government gets a limited budget than to be paid by corporations or international investors.

Albanese is a good leader, sure he has spent money but as a result low income pay packets increased and more fee free tafe places introduced. It feels like Australia is anti progressive when it comes to spending money. Dutton will only bring back shortages in skilled workers and rip up the Australian made policy. You need to spend money to make it. The issue with migration is due to covid and filling those very shortages in skilled workers Morrison failed to act on, the number of migrants will decrease in coming years. Give Labor another term to continue to fix our nation. I'm sure their justification for spending is no different your justification for spending big on your home renovations.
We have working families with kids living in cars and tents and 1000s of others who don't have a job singles couples youth and pensioners who are homeless and battling to feed themselves. Australia was the lucky country and the its prosperity is being pillaged and peed up the wall for political grandstanding.
Just stay together as a family in the same home? Simple. Imagine ones ancestors started living here like more than 5 decades ago and not owning a home.

In case no one has noticed, the cost of living is still rising. One of the reasons is the fuel tax that the most useless treasurer in the world has imposed on fuel. Truck companies / drivers are paying incredible amounts more for fuel because of the increased taxes and those costs have to be passed on to the consumer. Don't talk about cost of living relief when you are the problem Chalmers. Clown.
On welfare and can't even afford a jerry can to mow the lawn lol. Yet people expect me to somehhow walk 15km down a mountain to go to work.

Yeah agree. Funding of Seniors, superannuation rorting and private health insurance cover for anyone over 60 needs user-pays. Pre 1990s concessions are still in effect when we have very, very, very generous superannuation perks. As a small business owner I down $60k in income this financial year as a consequence of the RBA and the Government's monetary policy and the banks sucking every last bit of discretionary spending out of the economy. So much for cost of living help and tax cuts. I wont make enough money this year to pay tax. I wont forget this come next election.

Imagine if they reallocated some of that money into giving people struggling a serious cash injection so that can get on top of things.
Really most current issues really boil down to financial stress. This includes homelessness, violence, drugs, mental health etc.
Furthermore there are big properties with cottages all over but land lords don’t want to stuff around with centrelink rent help forms. If someone is on centrelink they are likely renting.
Imagine if the pink bat insulation scheme actually insulated rental houses, or the solar subsidies put solar on rental house to reduce the costs..
If most of these politicians gave up their investment properties there'd be nearly no homelessness among the native Australian citizenry.
It's really that simple, greedy property investors/developers have done this to us, the immigration only accelerated it.

I am barley able go from fortnight to fortnight. My family are always borrowing money off me so they can buy food (one owes me a little the others have paid me back).
It wasn't something they used to do. I try to leave $20 aside for them just incase.

Just how things are now my partner and i both stopped taking all of our medications so that we could make sure that we had fuel and food to put in our daughters lunch for school. I am a caregiver for my partner and because we are a couple we both loose $200 each a fortnight out of our pensions because apparently it's cheaper for two to live together.

I do a lot of road travel for work in Queensland and I’ve never seen so many caravans, campers, RVs, and tents in odd places tucked up in the bush, on pastoralist land, farm land, that look like live in not travellers. More n more people can’t afford the rent. A part of the problem is the insurance premiums for houses that have renters. A friend was renting his house but the insurance hiked up to $7,500 a year, add rates n it is no longer profitable to rent your house. Insurance companies are forced to provide insurance fir rental properties to keep their licence hence the high premiums.. no wonder there is a rental problem.
Its not insurance its foreign investors mainly CCP the foreign investment review board just like the anti dumping commission is useless and corrupted. Its took the anti dumping commission 9 years to stop the dumping of aluminum extrusions into AU from the CCP meanwhile Capral almost went broke and many lost their jobs.
Unfortunately, with such a tight housing supply, every time a fairly well off immigrant comes in, usually someone on the margins gets displaced. That displaced person also has a chance of being an immigrant.
Basically with today's OHS, environmental requirements, government regulations (the big one), future proofing etc. we just cant do 2.5% population growth like we used to.
In Queensland we have what they call “a daily supply charge” which is a daily cost of $1.33, this charge is on top of the usage. Obviously $25.00 a month doesn’t even cover that!

Im a low income single perant and this winter we have had to rug up with blankets instead of using the heater as is hard enough paying for the electricity let alone the gas and due to the housing commission house we live in effected by significant subsidence from a water burst pipe we had even if we used the heater it won't stay inside anyways

When a country has no debt it can afford to give tax relief, when they are in debt they can’t. this has just hindered their ability to pay off the debt as less tax gets collected, and the amount people get back really makes no difference. NZ is making the same mistake. It’s crazy. It will ultimately make more people poor as government tightens up on more services.

I chose Australia because of its Christian western culture and appeared to be ruled by law and order and political corruption was not as bad as in my birth country. Now Australia under Albo Labor Party is turning this country just like the country I left behind. Everything is polticized, this government says one thing and does another thing and spending Australian money like there is no tomorrow for themselves. Albo saying he understnds the hardships (he caused anyway) most Australians are going through then buy themselves $450 million LUXURY jets and $172 million for advetisements to tell how brilliant they are destroying the country as good.
Why should we pay taxes at all? We have gas, among other resources, that we the Australians own. Take a look at Punters Politics ; why Qatar earns $76B from gas While Aussies get scammed.

Its better than nothing which is what liberal were offering - they only wanted to give tax cuts to the high earners. So what is Dutton offering lower income earners?
