I’ve always thought the Dee character is by *far* the most difficult to play. The guys can lean on each other a lot more, Dee is kind of on her own and often against all of them at once. Somehow she can make Dee funny and likable. It would be so easy to ruin that character and make her annoying and/or blatantly over the top.
personally what I love about IASIP is they are all complete degenerates with absolutely no redeeming qualities. i wouldnt say shes a likeable character tbh. I mean I love all of them but its because they are such degenerate POS

She’s always having to punch up despite the fact they’ve all literally grown up together.
I remember watching Seinfeld behind the scenes and Julia stated she didn’t like when the script made her look silly. It took forever to get her to do the Elaine dance.
Dee has been the punchline of like 30% of the jokes they’ve ever made on this show.
She is by far the greatest female character in a comedy sitcom

I wish this included her stealing the shoes. The falling head first into the car while escaping is one the funniest pratfalls I’ve seen.
She got legitimately hurt in that fall.

I’ve slowly come to realise that she is low key the funniest character in the show, it’s just she doesn’t get as many opportunities to show it. I’d love more Dee and Charlie stories.
She shows it plenty. She's the backbone of many of the main storylines right in the heart of it. The show is 50% Charlie 50% Dee. The rest of them aren't nearly as talented and probably don't have a career without those two. They both probably could've carried the show on their own for 10 years in their prime.

Olsen is so good at portraying annoying drunken behavior. She really nails the little nuances of a very drunk person. The thousand yard stare, the proclivity for interrupting people when they talk and not even listening to them, badly singing songs you dont fully know the lyrics to, the stumbling and slurring of words is on point. Her and John Dunsworth, may he rest in peace, were the best at portraying drunks.
Haven't watched much of the new stuff but in the newer clips her plastic surgery looks great but it makes me miss old dee.

i wasn’t sure if it was surgery or if she was just doing her hair and makeup different + getting older. maybe like botox or smth but it’s kinda weird that her having any cosmetic surgery is a conversation we’re having like that matters. she looks the same to me she just doesn’t wear eyeliner and the side bang

At first, she seems like the reasonable one in the group… but she’s just as crazy as the rest
because Kaitlyn fought for that change. The guys originally were just writing a boring stereotypical "wet blanket" woman role but Kaitlyn said she wanted to be as bad as the guys. They said they didnt know how to write women, and she said to just write it like a man and she would make it a woman because she is one.

my fanon/retcon is that during the beginning of the show she was close to normal because she just recently got reintroduced to the gang after hospitalization and some time of maybe working a normal job :v and then the relapse happened
They are all the same deep down but she is the only one who's FIRST reaction is to pretend to be a good/virtuous person. The rest of the gang sometimes does it but only it specific situations (Trying to impress someone specific) but it's generally Dee's go-to to act like she actually cares about people other than herself
I like the rare occasions when the guys are impressed with Dee

Even just on a physical comedy level. Every member of The Gang is a master at getting jokes across just using the way they move, but Kaitlin perhaps even more than Danny just fully commits to everything. She is an absolute master of moving in funny ways, to the point where I honestly think she'd be able to fully hold her own if they did a silent episode.
the dee as stand up comedian episode broke me! her dry heaving fits . . . and when she becomes the hip, dirt bag comic lmao calling kaitlin olson brilliant is not hyperbole.
I hope she sees the appreciation the fans have for her. She became my favorite when she became Mr. Covington hahaha

Hilarious Dee Moments For The Heart (Attack)
The "is that a yes or a no because youre kinda holding up traffic" is priceless.
It's crazy that after following this show for years now, it's only been in recent times that I realized how goddamn hilarious Sweet Dee is. On the surface, she seems to be the least worst human being among the crew but she's an absolute trainwreck and a disaster all her own. Completely unbalanced but totally not self aware
She is legendary
Kaitlyn is so under appreciated for making Dee what she is. No way could anyone play this role as good as she does. Without her would be like having no Frank
Sweet Dee carrying on while Kaitlyn Olsen was pregnant and the Gang goes on as normal was hilarious.
Half of this have to be improvised. There's no way they can make something so hilarious sound this natural.
I just love when Kaitlin imitates the flailing arm blow up guys...She does such a great job imitating them...Every time I see one I think of Sweet Dee...:)...She's in the newest podcast #61...Funny stuff.

When the stripper hit rock bottom and slept with Dee was such a funny episode. From Dee getting caught taking his watch so he had to come back over, to Dee's terrible accent on the phone while she was hiring Bad Dad and The Boy to strip, was all great Dee moments.
BUT- the meanness of her attitude when she reveals how she planned and got her revenge is by far my favorite Dee moment.
I laugh until I'm almost in tears every single time.
2nd place is between her having to ride the crowded bus. Getting on the airplane speaker and making announcements. And her dance on the Times Up (MeToo seminar) episode.
IMO Kaitlin is the best physical comedian on this show, and that’s really saying something

I feel like Dee is underutilised. She sometimes gets to be funny, but often she is just reduced to the punching bag. I found the last season difficult to watch actually because of how much they abused Dee. I get that its a running joke. But she can be funny, and when the only joke is that she should shut up. It's actually just takes away from her character.
