- 22 Years Ago Today Gordon Opened the Doors to Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and for 19 of them it’s maintained 3 Michelin Stars. But the restaurant hasn't been what it is without the team behind it....that's why I'm excited to make Matt Abé Co-Chef Patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay Thank you to all the diners who have made the past 22 years what the restaurant is today and cheers to 22 more 🥂

what a nightmare
Justin Y. Hello
"Please don't shout at me" if Gordon Ramsay says this to you, you know you've made it.
"Please don't shout at me" 😏 Gordon fucking Ramsay says 😂
The amount of respect ✊ , it’s a whole other level
@Build a Reef Aquatics he would have. All big chefs have their namesake. John Georges spends 10hrs a day at his when he is New York. He has 24 restaurants but the the New York location is the flagship, it has to be perfect and never faulter. Similarly, Gordon has many restaurants and accolades but it all rests on Ramsay retaining it's level of excellence. Even though he has a team who can do it without him, it is his flagship and he needs to be there more than you'd think. If the flagship goes down, the enterprise is lost.
@Build a Reef Aquatics Also being a chef often means you don't often get to work a station and cook. Most of us are tied up doing orders, labour costs, inventory and paperwork. Any chance to work a meat station would be a nice break and a good chance to check in with your brigade.
That Herdwick lamb looked very very thumbs up xD
My husband and I had a lovely experience there back in 2007. The best service we have ever received, and the food was delicious. We saved up a long time to be able to afford it, and we could only do lunch since it was less expensive. But we had the pleasure of being invited into the kitchen as well, thanks to their amazing Maitre D'. I'll never forget it. They even gave us chocolates to take home! Just amazing! Gordon knows what he's talking about when he's trying to improve another business, or pick chefs, or just help people learn how to cook. Just amazing!
How much did a dinner for two cost back in 2007? If you don't mind me asking.
@@Steve_Solomon It was the fixed price lunch menu and we made the mistake of saying yes to the champagne which cost a fortune. When we got home, I remember it being around CA$350. Probably closer to $250 if we hadn't said yes to the champagne...

and then he goes in to the kitchen to cook at the end. the self-aggrandisement! :P
Yes, I also watched the video. Why do autistic UA-cam users like comments that are just quotes from the video?

People on kitchen nightmares be like "Don't tell me how to run a restaurant, you dont know what you're talking about"
"He's just a Brit, they think scones are delicious."
To be fair, he didn't make the right calls all the time. Plenty of restaurants took his advice and still shut down, and many stuck with his menu even when their customers said they didn't really like it. A lot of it seemed like he moved away from the unique local cuisine that gave them a reputation and more towards a streamlined menu, it's hard to tell since in the American version we don't often see him do much market research, usually just do basic stuff like organize the kitchen and point out how disgusting the fridge is.
@@TheDirtysouthfan I think people have to realise it is just television. The restaurants he goes into are so far in debt it's a foregone conclusion half the time. There is also a reason, even if it isn't the owners, that these restaurants have failed. Kitchen Nightmares is a show orchestrated by producers and script writers. I'm not criticising Ramsey, I don't doubt his passion and intent, but is essentially car crash TV, designed for schadenfreude.

It's kind of crazy how different the kitchen there looks compared to if you watch his show Boiling Point from back when he first opened. It looks like it has a much warmer atmosphere but the layout looks similar enough to the point where you can almost still see Sarge getting shouted at over some out-of-date beans. I also bet the extraction fans have worked for the past 22 years.
It’s cool to see jean Claude is still there. Shame the chefs aren’t but means a a lot when someone will work for you for 22 years

I went through an anxiety rut around mid August - January last year that was hard to get out of. I started watching all of Chef’s videos popping up on my recommended on UA-cam and moved on to Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares on Hulu every day after work (I’m a teacher) to distract my anxiousness, and honestly, that helped me SO MUCH. It was therapeutic in a way. I was able to de-stress by seeing other people in tougher and stressful situations and I was able to feel the same anger that Chef felt, only for me, I didn’t know how to express that to my situation, to my reality at that time. So it felt like he did it for me. All the “you dickheads!” “the wellie’s fucking raw!” “this tastes like shit” honestly let me take a break from my reality and it felt so good. So, yeah, he kinda means something to me,😄 Congrats, Mr. Ramsay!
so glad he was able to help you :D gordon has said himself that sometimes he can't take the stress and he will go on runs to help. he even cries sometimes when he's really missing his family
Chef Ramsey, I love your personability and humility when the time is right. It may be your name above the door, yet it is admirable to see a world renowned chef (Such as Yourself) give credit where credit is due, to others. It comes down to passion, identifying talent, giving them the correct tools to work with and teamwork, teamwork and more tramwork. Congratulations on over 20 years of well deserved success, including those 3 Michelian Stars (16 in total). We all look forward to the next 20 plus years. Cheers!
Amazing. Well done Gordon and team. The whole story from purchasing the restaurant, to the journey and success over two decades is very inspiring. Wow

I love the dude!! I wonder how his restaurants are doing with the whole Covid situation?
How could anyone hate him? Man has all of the charisma in the world...
@@Blazerri I agree entirely, but his charisma has taken over his culinary decisions. As his mentor said "Gordon has to be the best, but will never appreciate success if it's not his own" and I entirely agree, I was an inspired chef, but after watching my idol fall into a T.V chef, and slate dishes/resteraunts that have actually been massively successful including where I worked, I lost interested in the culinary world.
Not everything has to be a Michelin star, people are happy with decent home cooked meals
