- Argument: A UA-cam video in which a pug is trained to answer to the phrase "Gas the Jews" is anti-Semitic in nature and grossly offensive.
Counter-Argument: The video in question is comedic in nature and offense is subjective.
Arguer's Fault: Neglect of intent/context and a general lack of humor.

DemonDerpz Screw Nuke War, the Information war will be the death of us.
what are you talking about, why did so many people upvote you? This is literally the exact opposite of “where the world is going“, it‘s where we‘re *coming* from. Who ever came up with the idea that being overly sensitive was a millenial thing? A generation ago people literally thought jazz music was the devils work.
What happened to the guy was a combination of out of date laws, judge and prosecution. Three things that take notoriously a little longer than society to adopt new values (which is also a good thing, because society is volatile).
@@mekullag9787 The problem aren't directly these laws. The problem is how they are being used today. The 90's and early 2000's were a lot more open about all kinds of humor. If I look back at the kind of jokes I could make when I was younger and noone got offended (jokes about Poles, Italians, Spaniards, Brits and Germans while I had friends of all the nationalities) and people jsut laughed and said it was a joke.
Now I make a mildly offensive joke (I wouldn't call it that but that is basically what those are) and people who have fuck all to do with it come along and literally screech at me about how racist/sexist/homophobic I am. I was told that jokes about the "Deutsche Bahn" (notorious for delays for literally fuck all reasons) are racist because they have gay/iranian/turkish train conductors. THIS IS WERE WE ARE HEADED.
Just because we had older generations tell us that our new generational music/dresscode was the devils work/turning us into criminals doesn't compare to an entire generation of even sometimes formerly normal people having a cultural outrage behaviour. The press coverage would make Goebbels very proud.
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”

@@brabhamF1 And yet have a look at pop culture, the trend is very obvious. The Simpsons used to be considered edgy! You´ll be hard pressed to find a single episode of theirs that would not be seen as "family friendly" today, outside of maybe the Halloween episodes.
Today we have shows like Family guy and American Dad competing for who can make the most offensive joke and no one bats an eye.
Have a look at music. Hip Hop is the most popular genre and it´s full of violence, sex and drugs, music videos that may have been classified as porn 60 years ago run on TV all day long.
Sexuality becomes less and less of a tabu. People think it´s PC culture that made the metoo movement? These women would not have dared to speak out in the last century, because they would have been murdered in public opinion for daring to make such a thing public.
I can´t deny that a subculture has emerged which demonizes any- and everything that may offend or trigger anyone, but realize that the internet makes it seem like much more of a problem than it is. On one hand the group themselves have a medium with which to fight what they dislike in a very public way and on the other hand people use the group to make money by stirring up hate and ridicule around them, so basically two factions who both have the goal of making the first seem like a big "thing".
I´m sorry about your personal experience, but I fail to see this taking place on a larger scale.
Also I have to add that not every new sensitivity that comes up is a bad thing (neither is openness necessarily good), as for example mistreating people for being different may have been widely accepted in the past, the world is a better place for that not being the case anymore.
@@mekullag9787 hip hop is NOT the most popular genre
I'm not sure if this was true but either the judge or someone involved in the prosecution said something along the lines of, "the context does not matter". To that I say, isn't that the whole point of proving guilt and administering punishment. The difference between manslaughter and the degrees of murder is intent. Context is everything in this situation.
I guess it is fair them to shoot that guy in the face in what would otherwise be cold blooded murder, and then claim "no, it was a murder in self defense because I felt threatened - you can't say it wasn't, context doesn't matter."

The scary thing about this is the precedent it sets. Since “grossly offensive” is entirely subjective, literally anything could be prosecuted under this ruling

This reminds me of a news article I read a few years ago about an auction of a 2500 years old thracian coin with a swastika on it taking place on german eBay. Since the german constitution forbids the exhibition of nazi symbols of any sort and being the swastika the most notorious of those symbols, the auction had to be taken down by court order. This is obvious nonsense because, although the letter of the law could be interpreted in a literal sense, the context of the situation had to be taken into consideration. You're preaching to the choir fam. I haven't met anyone (including people who are very much leftists) who believes Mr Dankula should've been arrested; some think his video was bad or untasteful, but nobody thinks he should be arrested other than the people convicting him (who are just a very small group of people, who are not members of the general public).
Also, just because something is comedic in nature, doesn't mean it's not bigoted. I don't believe the author of the video holds anti-Semitic views nor did he create the video with anti-Semitic intentions, but just as a general statement: comedy can be bigoted and spread bigoted ideas. If Jewish people are the butt of your joke and the punchline boils down to "Jews bad", then that would be a bigoted joke, despite it being with comedic intentions. This does not apply to Dankula's video, but "it has comedic intentions" is not a valid argument against "this video is offensive/harmful/bigoted"; they are not mutually exclusive.
The argument wasn't that bigotry and comedy are mutually exclusive, is was that offense and comedy are equally subjective and that something that has comedic intent cannot be "self evident bigotry". The rest of the video shows the intent is not bigoted, not because it is funny, but because it explains that the joke's subject is not that the holocaust was funny.
If I ever get into a legal battle, I want you to be my lawyer.
I really want to know who his lawyer was, so I can avoid him like the plague
