pro tip from someone with sensitive teeth: instead of dropping an ice cube in after the water; put 1 cube in first and then use the room temp water you pour in to melt the cube. it spreads the cold evenly around the liquid instead of being all at the top. it makes it all slightly chilled instead of too cold
Yeahh I kinda agree as well. I don't like too much ice on my water or juice, I'm alright if my drink is already cold or if it's just one or two ice cubes
@itachisasku nah jan, there's just something weirdly uncomfortable about room temperature drinks. It's like you've let it sit for too long and doesn't taste fresh or satisfying
Doesn't matter the time of year, I like my water ice cold. I got an ice cube maker last year, and it's been one of the best purchases of my life, I use it constantly. Before that, I was buying premade ice cubes at the store because it takes hours to make ice in the freezer, and it ran out quickly, so when I needed ice I was often out. The cost adds up, so an ice cube maker is actually saving me money over time. I especially love ice in my energy drinks and iced tea. I won't put ice in beer though, that's just disgusting. I'll just put the beer in the freezer for 20 min or half an hour if it's not cold enough. Cheap beer already tastes watery, adding any more water to it just makes it taste like nothing. But I'll put it in white wine if the wine isn't cold.
I'm Thai but I think the choices of warm beer VS cold beer with ice is the thing in the past or outside of the city bc there're fridge filled with beer in many restaurants. However, beer with ice is still a thing in Thailand. Maybe it's a die hard habit.
When it comes to water, I just drink it whatever temperature it's given to me. But for soda, if it's coming from a fountain it's already cold so I get it without ice. I'm not paying for frozen tap water. And for having a frozen or cool glass, if you keep heating it up with warm beer and freezing it to use again later, you'll eventually break it from the rapid temperature changes.
i dont put ice in other drinks but i do with water. iceless water can be kind of bland sometimes. i just noticed the length. they really talked about *water* for a quarter of an hour
Come to Austria or Germany, here water without ice is not unusual. But it will be carbonated. Also there's a drink here where they do put carbonated water into wine. Its called a G'spritzter in Austria and a Schorle in Germany. And there is something called a Radler (cycler) that is a mixture of beer and Almdudler (sweetened carbonated beverage made of herbal extracts). So both is sorta watered down versions.
I agree with Connor that there are some drinks I want that should have little to no ice in them because it is a waste to throw a drink away that still have ice in them. I ordered an iced drink in Starbucks and I finished it pretty quickly because there was so much ice in it and threw it away.
I choose based on the option of my refill situation. If I won't get a refill or will have a hard time accessing a refill, I'm getting less ice. If refills are available, I'm putting more ice, chug, and refill before going to my seat.
iced water is alright. I am in the middle where i like the water refrigerated but not ice cold. I will usually put some ice in the drink just to keep it cold because i usually have like a massive cup of water near me that i sip on all day.

I feel like this is related to their houses not having air conditioning. Spend a week in texas or florida and let me know how satisfying that one ice cube is.
The thing with most drinking places in SEA, as far as I know, some of them don't make their own ice and order them in bulk from an ice factory. Depending on the night if it's packed or not, there are chances that you may get beer that's not chilled.
I usually prefer to prechill my drinks ahead of time by putting my drinks in the fridge or freezer but for public places I just bite the bullet and just try to drink it fast before the ice melts too much and dilutes the drink.
Careful you don't end up like me. I did that and other terrible things for my teeth, now I have only several teeth left, none more than30% there, all rotted and easily chipped, and I need alcohol just to eat,it fucking sucks, and all because when I was young I thought I could, now I'm almost30 with almost no teeth left.

I hope people realize that cold water “With a few ice cubes in it” is the same temperature as a bunch of ice in the ice water. If the ice isn’t melting and the water isn’t freezing that water is 0 Degrees Celsius.
Except the ice is always melting, and that's because the water is constantly getting heated up by the surrounding environment. If you just have a few ice cubes, the water right around the ice at the top might be cold but the rest of the water is heating up, also causing the ice to melt faster.
