This is hands down the best stage theme in the entire game. I love it so much, it's so awesome, and it brings back a lot of great childhood memories :)
My god am I glad you extended this one. This is without a doubt the greatest music and level of all time. Everything about it is great. What more can I say?
Not only has overall musical quality and vibrancy deteriorated significantly over the last ~15 years (in particular, the last 11 years), it has also evidently declined in tendency under similar regards in the realm of video games, as well, very sadly. I am deeply proud to have had the privilege to grow up during the 1990s, and not only for exemplary musical quality! :) I wouldn't trade those wonderfully accumulated memories for absolutely anything!~Trav.~
+Rain1290 I agree with you but I really like the OST's of Sonic Rivals, Sonic 06 and Sonic Rush. But my old school classics are Sonic CD (both US and JPN/EU Soundtracks), Sonic 3&Knuckles and Sonic 2
@Gobeldeg00p you still never said you ACTUALLY PLAYED IT...trust me..the physics and animations feel just right with the vibration of the controller...Imma classic Sonic fan as well as a modern one...play the games buddy. I promise....he never changed :)
Still holding out hope for a Sonic comeback after all these years. To his glory days, where he's rolling down hills through badniks and anything else in his way, to some of the best music ever composed. Robotnik is evil, we need to take him down. Starting with his flying battery farm. We need to save our animal friends, just like in real life...
I can name some other composers on the Genesis like Matt Furniss,Jeff Dyck,Sam Powell,Masayuki Nagao,Hirofumi Murasaki,Morihiko Akiyama,Jun Senoue,Howard Drossin,Masato Nakamura,Seiroh Okamoto and Takayama who did the awesome soundtrack to Lemmings on the SEGA Mega Drive [Genesis].
@mrincrediblenjyadigg Its referring to an artillery battery not a small power cell, a unit of guns or mortars or rockets/missiles! its used in its naval context here, (the level is after all a flying warship)
To any of you nerdy enough to run your own Asterisk server, from personal experience this still sounds great after passing through an 8 kHz bandpass for MoH/ringback, at least enough to get you compliments from telemarketers before hanging up on them lol
@poopeyman32 I think that the Death Egg saga in the Genesis classics is one of the best told silent stories in not just a Sonic game but any video game, because it was the one plot Robotnik (I do the princess Toadstool thing with his name calling him Robotnik in older ones and Eggman in newer one like Mario fans do with Peach's name) had that took Sonic more than one game to finally foil and it's story makes up most of the single non-addon classic Sonic games, and it was *2bcont.*
The deathegg crashes. Sonic escapes and winds up in a mushroom forest below. An aircraft carrier flies by and he sneaks onboard. He blows up the carrier and winds up in a desert from the fall. He enters a pyramid, and deep underground finds a passage that leads to a volcano that is erupting/cooling down. There he finds the hidden palace of the Master Emerald that Robotnik needs to power the deathegg. Using the emerald sanctuary above, is able to board the Death Egg, where he defeats Robotnik.
Rias: what kind of airship is this? Akeno: if I can hazard a guess I'd say that this is a doomship. Raynare: we're not in the mushroom kingdom Akeno. Grayfia: it's hard to breath at this altitude. Me: and if we were in the mushroom kingdom Riser wouldn't pilot something this massive. He doesn't even have a piloting license.
There's literally no remix that is as good as the original Trust me I searched and searched I just love the original so much cuz there's literally no remix that captures the esence of this song
@electric926 I admire the fact that you're giving Heroes credit, it seems to get a lot of undeserved hate. And yeah, Unleashed is great. I'm definitely looking forward to Sonic 4. :)
@poopeyman32 and the Death Egg saga was all told silently with every single character miming the actions from beginning to end without even any text during cutscenes and still managed to have a ton of story that was epic all told via action, in fact the Death Egg saga from the classics is one of My favorite stories in a Sonic game or in a video game for that matter and sorry for the long comment I'll shut up now.
In an way, once it hits a certain point it starts to annoy me just a little bit - not that the song goes bad, but because I keep thinking, "I should have beaten this level by now!!"
Heck I love playing the flying battery zone with sonic(with the fire barrier powerup ^_^). My younger brother and I used to compete to see who could complete the stages(not only the flying battery zone) the fastest.
This is hands down the best stage theme in the entire game. I love it so much, it's so awesome, and it brings back a lot of great childhood memories :)
lol ikr?
This is seriously the best song in any video game ever created. I don't know what else can be said about it.
I listened to this on the toilet.
You could say shit got intense.

My entire childhood is dedicated to this theme
This is one the the songs thats worthy of a ten minute video. This is one of the only ones i'll listen to for the full time.
I still remember as a kid I let the time hit 9:59 on purpose on this act, because its such an epic tune.

This is the best stage song in sonic 3 and knukles( for me)
Me too, Idk but I always loved this music as a child, and it's followed me all the way here now and I still have an emotional connection to it :')
And my favorite zone from Sonic ever
*KNUKLES*
Lava Reef and Ice cap zone are also good as well as Death egg zone.
MY CHILDHOOD!
Man, I miss these classic games and their music.
So nostalgic!
My god am I glad you extended this one. This is without a doubt the greatest music and level of all time. Everything about it is great. What more can I say?
That little piece at 0:31 just makes me stiffer than a stiff piece of wood.
Play this on a guitar and you will have permanent rigor mortis.
Ami I think they give applause
Song is having an orgasm
The best song from Sonic & Knuckles there ever was.
Every single note of it
It's just beyond words
And you manage to ask yourself
How?
How they came with an idea like this?
Childhood, come to me!
+Burn Angel me toooo
Saturno Schnellto Lol, even as a kid, I loved this song from the bottom of my heart.
Get a Flux-Capicitator!
The 2nd Act remix was a slick move from Sega, they even did it in Sonic 3-D Blast! And of course, I love this theme ALL THE WAY TO THE MOON AND BACK!!
Es una obra de arte... increible como le daban tanta bola a la musica en los juegos antes... quedan para siempre
Oh my Gandalf, that intro is beastly!
God, why can't more sonic games have music like THIS!
playing both act 1 and act 2 perfectly in sync is amazing :D
I really hope, since Sonic Mania will have remixed levels from the genesis games, that this great level will be one of them with this godlike music.
Your wish has been granted.
YOOOO!!! This stage is on SONIC MANIA!!!!!
I loved it! Its a good addition to the game!

I agree with you but personally I like the change in the chimes. 0:28 to 0:40 is DEFINITELY more epic, you're right about that!
I really adore this music. For a long time I preferred Act 1 but this one seems darker somehow.
My kids blasting this on the drive home from the shops lol
Put this on your iPod and hit a treadmill. The sheer power of the music will heal your goddamn legs.

The Best Nostalgic Sound!
I love this song, It's simply amazing.
I've heard this so many times, and yet I still catch new things here and there. It's very intricate.
Dude, obviously you haven't heard about the new Sonic 4 which picks up right after this game from '94.
Your despair did not go unnoticed LOL.

The perfect sound for an evil science lab gone awry.
0:27 really matches being on an airplane and you see the Himalayas mountains that’s what it makes you feel like ❤❤
The best ost of the all Sonic's games
Howard Drossin gave us some of the best chiptunes ever like this one which is spot on!
The best fucking music ever made on fucking fuck video games.
Leonardo Couto pretty much still the best ost ive heard at 25 years of gayness
Leonardo Couto this point alone has Sonic over Mario in my opinion
it is nice music and also street of rage music is great
You fucking bet your fucking ass!!!

this is probably the best game around with such great musics :P
Awsome music but the elevators in act 2 are like hell 💀🔥
W vid tho ❤
i nearly fell asleep while listening to this bootiful music
Everyone loves flying battery's music!
One of the few times where Act 2's music is cooler than Act 1's.
Hydrocity Zone
I wonder if it’s that way because we heard act 1 first, which prepares us for this. 🤔
Hyrdocity is another one

I was rocking out to this while making no-bake cookies.
Honestly as a kid the thing that made this song stick out is like five seconds in I'd go "IS THAT THE JAMES BOND THEME, WHY IS THAT HERE."
That and the fact that it just sounds more epic :)
00:31 No one gonna talk about the background sound? Sounds so cool
I like this one so much better then the first act, but thats just my opinion
Oh God... the terrible horror below... *melts*
