My recommendation is to order the version that includes a second battery! It is well worth the $50 extra! It is called the EP-2 Pro (Battery Pack) on the website.

Hey Russ,
Nice review as usual!
I like the range and build quality of my new Zebra but if you also want more speed capability just install a Key Display model KD718.
The color display easily allows you to tune up or down bike performance settings.
The color display is just like the one on the Magicycle and allows the Zebra up to 30 mph when needed.
It also allows easy programming with no “p” codes or required passwords. Now my Zebra meets it’s true potential.
I also added an adjustable stem to take pressure off my hands and wrist for much more upright riding.
Also with the low seatpost I was able to install a Suntour NCX suspension seatpost with Selle Royal saddle.
Thanks!
Himiway Zebra. When I go to the local park, sometimes I hook up with a volunteer park ranger. He rides the Himiway. One can easily see the quality of this bike. Russ, thanks for parading an assortment of products. It stimulates competition (a good thing), plus educates your audience. Shalom.
Thanks. They are made very well.
The Himiway is a really nice looking bike. I love clean white bikes like it. Not many people do real world range tests without speeding the video up to get to the end of the test. Great content as always!
Thanks!
I don't usually watch range test videos because like you said it depends on lots of things. The way I ride is very conservative. I pedal all the time, throttle only to get moving and keep it at 15mph. And I only weigh 130lbs. So I can get 50-60 miles easily. Got 2 batteries so I can go over 100 miles. By the way it's a Himiway cruiser.
Hi Russ, I also purchased a Himiway Zebra this past summer. My real battery ride range test was on gravel roads and trails with hills. I pedal more than use the throttle. I got 42 miles on my first charge. I also added a bike stem riser and an adjustable MTB stem so I can sit upright. I love this bike! My husband inherited my step thru Himiway cruiser. He now rides with me. He originally did not want an ebike, but he is really enjoying it. Ride on.
How much do you weigh though?
@dftdbs1010 At the time of the review, I was around 268 lbs. Today I am at 238 lbs.
@@RussIsRightSo they definitely hold up with husky dudes, thats good. I just don’t understand why they claim people will get 60-80 miles on a charge. I watched another video of a super fit dude who probably weighed 190 and he only got 28 miles on a charge. So with people like us, it probably only gets 18-20 miles per charge.
@dftdbs1010 Usually to get the stated range, you must ride at pedal assist level 1, pedal the entire time, weigh a lot less than someone like me, and never use the throttle. For me, I got around 30 miles on the Zebra if I recall.
@@RussIsRight When you got that mileage were you mostly using throttle or practically all throttle?
I support this real world range test approach. It’s nice to get a sense of what you might actually get. Looping around the three mile path isn’t very representative of how most people are going to ride. There’s something to be said for a standard test, but I think riding around the same general area is close enough, it’s more interesting, and it gives a more realistic range for people who might be considering the bike.
Thanks. I agree. Getting better numbers under a more controlled path probably isn't really what people will really get. Still, the Himiway did rather well at 30 miles under these real world conditions with a heavier rider.
Hi Russ I like the way the Zebra looks It looks like a good solid Quality bike.👍
Yes, it's built very well.
I also put a 28- 11Tooth cassette on and that is the best upgrade I did to the bike because there is no ghost peddling so you can always help the bike and those are some bad miles you got even when I push the bike a lot in put it in the higher assist levels I get about 18 miles on the first bar you need to keep that thumb off the throttle big time or just turn it off because it would be better for your knee too!
Nice video and nice bike. Costs more than others (e.g. Ride1Up) but I guess you get more for your money? Thanks for the vid.
Hi Russ. I sure appreciate your Go Pro chest mount camera angle. I just saw another UA-cam video with a guy having the camera mounted on the handle bar and facing him at a weird angle. Yikes. Weird. Then he switched it to the front and we did not see the bike at all. Boy was that unpleasant. The worst is helmet mounted videos. They make me dizzy. I understand that Himiway is a good bike. I sure hope to get out and ride today. We have had a lot of cool rainy days. My son lives in ST Petersburg, Fl. They were fortunate that hurricane Ian did not hit them full on.
I decided early on that the chest mount was the best angle to show. You see a bit of the handlebars so that you know you are watching someone on a bike, but you get to see what I see in a forward facing view. There are some benefits to seeing the bike rider on the occasional shot, but considering the amount of videos I produce (typically one per day), it's just a bit easier for me to do it this way. Thanks for faithfully watching my videos!
Russ. 30 miles, congratulations!! That’s further than you thought. If you had a 2nd battery, then you could ALMOST use this bike to go to the Gardens. Almost, no extra mileage….Dan
Yup.
What is the normal ride for most people. I think that would cover most riders. Zebra On. Himiway I think you have a winner with this bike.
I think many would like to know the real world numbers compared to the published numbers.
I’d be surprised if most people go longer than 10 miles most rides. If people are just doing it for fun, 45 mins to an hour is probably about as long as they’d ride. They’d get a few days riding out of a charge on this bike. I mostly use my bike to go to stores and parks and stuff, so shorter than that generally.
You are probably right. Only crazy guys like me do 18-20 miles on the average daily ride... and often times even more!
You can use 3 in 1 oil on your brake disc and that will take away the squeal. Just use a paper towel and a couple of drops.
I got about 1500 miles on my Zebra Step-thru and I am a big guy and love it, I also try to only use my peddle assist and never the throttle because I need the exercise and I have been looking to buy a second battery to put in the rear rack bag and I have been looking at a 48V 30ah battery so I would have 50ah battery and I have bought the balancer I need and it fits easily in the crank housing all I need to do is buy the battery and I found one that uses the same cells that the Zebra uses 21700 3.7 5000mah also I have the adjustable stem and a stem riser and I seat straight up and I like it also I have a nice wide seat and also my average ride is about 20 miles and that's about when I lose my first bar because I always use the peddle assist and I have been ebiking for over ten years now and for some reason it bugs me when I see someone only using the throttle or mostly using it and I have to go by them because I don't like to see that but I got the step-thru because I have a bad knee bone on bone and I need to get one of those shots right now but the bike riding is by far the best exercise for the bad knee and for 62 year old fart like me, but here is the 30ah battery I am looking at also running a second battery thru a balancer will pro-long the stock battery life too and the range would be unbelievable www.aliexpress.us/item/2255800800721764.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US Also the weight of the second battery would not be a problem for this bike you would probably not even notice it 10 or 12 lbs!
Nice bike
Hey Russ, I took my Ocelot Pro out on its maiden voyage and it rides great but I have a problem. The power settings on the PAS are very aggressive and I was wondering if you might know the best percentages to smooth out the power in either 1-7 or 1-5 ?
Watch this one on the Cruiser. Same procedure for the Ocelot. ua-cam.com/video/rrhV-lNRCxc/v-deo.html
I enjoy your videos I'm new to ebikes just bought cheap one waiting on good weather to ride on monon trail need to watch your reviews buy better one in my price range
Thanks for watching!
How about getting an e bike with an optional rear seat and co-ride with Mrs Right to see if the bike does live up to its weight limits?
Nah… not worth the risk.
Nice range, 30 miles on a 48V 20ah battery. Accurate testing too, based on typical riding. Himiway offers an array of other style bikes. Wondering if Himiway has reached out to you offering your reviews of their other models like the "Big Dog."
Not yet. Maybe in the future. I think a lot of it depends on whether my viewers order bikes or not because of my videos.
@@RussIsRight You've sold a lot of Magicycles bc of your videos. You are an influencer👍👏
As your channel grows, would you ever consider taking longer car trips with the wife to far away areas in order to ride the folding bikes next season?
Possibly
@@RussIsRight Yes, cause I believe most YT watchers like to see people they follow ride in interesting places where they may not be able to go for whatever reason. I know I am one of those.
What bike mirror do you have on this bike? I like the look of it and would like to buy one for myself.
All of my accessories are listed in the description of the videos. But this is the one I have on the Himiway... Hafny Left Side Mirror (Teardrop shape): amzn.to/3A2MAvl
Is the display water proof?
No. Water resistant, maybe.
does thishave a torque cencor?
When the Zebra first came out, it was a cadence sensor only (this one I am riding on this video is a cadence sensor). Today, the Zebra is also known as the D5. The D5 has either a torque sensor or a cadence sensor. The current pricing of the D5 with a torque sensor is $1799. The cadence sensor version is $1599. Either way, you can get the D5 (Zebra) as a step thru or as a step over. Hope this helps.
