@@thedirtyworkshop ya the shop manual doesnt say by how much either it only says if it has to be done use the 60 degree cutte , if it was a car id just grind the end down lower to compensate but this book doesnt give me much about the amount I can take off.
@@thedirtyworkshop well on both heads I have the intake has the nice ring but the exhasut has none on either they both look completely worn out on the exhaust side its all throat and no seat. Doesn;t matter wany way I found a head on ebay that has 9k miles on it that looks good so I bought it.
You said that the valve tool was a P.O.S. but it seemed to do the job. What makes a good valve tool or why is that one no good? Maybe you said it but I didn't understand.
Quick one might be a dumb question and you probably won't reply on videos this old but why use a copper hammer to tap the valves? What's wrong with a steel one?
B B you would use a copper or nylon hammer so you don’t damage the valve end “mushrooming” the valve stems. Always use a knocking stick that is softer than the material your encouraging. It’s good working practice. In my experience.
+Bikers Quest this is an unknown bike to me, I don't know if there was clutch/gearbox issue or what hav ya. So the best way to find out is have a look. It also makes good video and the shape of things to come. Thanks for the comment - matt
+Bikers Quest if you watch the whole series from the start, you'll find out, it's a old rusty bike. standing for I think 10 years if I can remember right. But in any case great watching the videos so I knew what to do if mine goes wrong
Aaaahhhahaha! Love the opening - "What the fuck is wrong with this contraption?"
My answer - "I dunno. I was hoping you could tell me."
Once again great video and very very informative
Okay what i would like to know and can't seem to find out is if the vavle seating can be refurbished or not.
You mean can the valve seats be recut? Yes, but only so much

The minimum amount to clean the face. Why are the seats so bad? You make it sound like you wanna take off a lot.

How can I get spares
for Er5
God, taking the valves out of a Yamaha R1 with a Genesis engine must take a million years.
Are the KLE, GPZ and ER5 the same engines ?
Yes.
There were slight 'upgrades' to the later but the vast majority of the engine was the same
@@thedirtyworkshop Cheers for that, so would a GPZ generator fit with the KLE rotor ?

Is there a reason why you're tearing this engine down? Or is it just to show us the inner workings? Great vids btw
