The brown Alex caught at 16:45 is a proper brown! Looks like the ones we have here in northern scandinavia. I often see browns from NZ that have very few dots, like the one earlier in this vid. Beautiful none the less ofcourse but I do prefer a proper dotted brown 🥰
Hi Gareth, nothing like the first of the seasons good stretch of water, aye? You and Alex make a great team. See you on the Tongariro next month. Harera...
Churr, tuu-meke ano te hii- taraute fala's neha - both u guys fishing vids, awesome 👍- like the drone view - 'un-charted riv.' or un-fished awa! Awesome team work, have a new outlook at day fishin' now Thanks heaps - Kia ora ra
Another great video and nice drone work. Is this the place to mention that since mid August notifications aren't coming to my email, which I prefer. Notifications come to my phone, which is fine, but I watch the vids on my laptop and monitor.
Hi, these are wild steelheads (the rainbow’s ancestors came from the Russian River in California, the brown’s ancestors came from Scotland, I think). Harera...
@@pierevojzola9737 The Russian River origin story appears in quite a few older books, but modern research is that it was actually further south around Sonoma Creek or nearby in the Bay Area. And to answer the question, the 'rainbows' as we call them are not sea run. They are resident fish in those rivers, with some migration up and down for spawning, but not downstream into a lake or the sea. NZ has very few sea run trout, some brown trout in certain areas but I've never heard of the steelhead stock going out to sea as their ancestors would have.
OOOOHHHHH MY LORD THAT WAS A WONDERFUL BROWN YOU CAUGHT GUYS...CANT WAIT TILL C19 AND MY WIFE LET ME COME OVER FOR SOME TONGA, HUNYMI AND B-COUNTRY FLY ACTION....YOU ARE REALLY KILLING ME HERE IN MELBOURNE RIGHT NOW...DAN
God, do you guys ever catch a single little trout or even just an average trout. Im so jealous lol here and colorado the smallest one you catch there is like state record size out here lol. Keep up the content guys
Well done Gareth and Alex. Terrific day where the reward was worth the effort by the looks.
drone shots again were great and the term TANKER is a great term.

Can you say what equipment you are using?
Rod

Wow
Those fish are so healthy. Water is obviously cold, judging by the fact that they are big fish catching big air. Cool vid!
