@Katherine, we're sorry, at this time we do not have any video planned for the Artisan. We do not carry the Companion, can you point us to a source for more information on that product? What information can we give you on this Artisan Wood Burning Stove that would identify whether they are compatible?
The Artisan, as with most wood stoves, will get extremely hot to the touch when in use. Heartland recommends* using the included tool and heatproof glove when operating components of the stove when it is in use. (*per Artisan Owner's Manual on Heartland's website)
@Katherine, in regards to ease of use: that of course will depend on how familiar you are with using a wood stove. Operation of a wood stove will not be as easy as turning on a gas or electric range and has a steep learning curve. However this stove is designed to be more efficient to use than most wood stoves. The reviews that we do have on our website praise it highly.
The height of the Artisan is 35-1/2"H, you may want to compare that with the Companion as far as how it would look side by side. The clearances on the Artisan can be no less than 3" so the Companion would have to be placed at least as far away as that but we would recommend no closer than 12". We are not aware that there are any installations being done of a gas and a wood stove in the same space so we do not have exact details on that.
I guess I was wondering how well the Artisan worked and how easy it was to use. As for the Aga Companion, its a small modern range that can be added on to a traditional Aga cooker. I was curious if it could be placed side-by-side with the Artisan cookstove. Any information you could provide would be welcome.
The dimension of the cooking surface/hotplate as listed in the Artisan article on our website is approximately 21" x 10-1/2". The Details tab on that product mentions that up to 5 saucepans can be used on it. The Artisan article also shows that both the main and lower ovens have a width of 14". (Please view article for complete dimensions, on the Artisan product page on lehmans.com, it can be found under the Downloads tab)
and of course I forgot one more question.... when I read about traditional Aga's I understand they remain relatively cool to the touch. You want get burn
the heartland looks good and works well, the fire brick is fragile and costs a lot to replace. because my local dealer would not even stock the firebrick, i will not be buying another, the j a r,oby model from quebec will be investigated, it is more than $2000 less
Wow-this ones a nice model too- & they all use sustainable wood forrestry products for fuel that is renewable energy & not fossil fuel like gas that is non-renewable, unsustainable form of energy.
I have had this sweetheart for about 15 years and heat/cook in a 2800 sq ft log home and love it. The fire brick does break and go bad and the bell knob screws wear out but other than that I have had no problems and have burnt it alot.
Thank you very much for all your help. You've been very informative.
thank you - I have one of these but appreciated the tour
Such a beautiful stove!

Does it heat up a room really well I want to use it for cooking and heating my basement??
Yes it does well. I have had one in a 2800 sq ft log home for about 15 years and love it.
@soggybuilders, the thermostat you see on the oven door is fully functional.
Is that thermostat a working thermostat or is it for ornamental purposes ? I am referring to the one showing on the oven door .
Sir could you please let me know the price of this wood burnt stove thanks

@Mofila, the Heartland stoves have both cast iron and steel components.
Will it last a life time. If properly maintained. With out replacement parts

One more thing, how large is the cooking area on the Artisan? How many pans/pots could fit on it and would standard sized pans fit in the oven?
@Mofila, the firebox is cast iron with a brick lining.
Will you be doing a video of the Artisan Heartland cookstove? And is the Artisan compatible with the Aga Companion?

I have one and I agree the fire brick are no good. Other than that it's a great looking stove but I would never buy another one.
Tim H wait, I’m curious, why would you not buy one again?

How much are these worth?
