So glad you are reacting to this! You are correct, there is an underlying story beneath all the weirdness of the episodes. Be on the lookout for things like the change of perspective, "behind the scenes" stuff like we saw with the black and yellow dude actually being guys in costumes etc. A lot of it has to do with it being a parody of children shows, you got that one right, but there's more to it as well.
DHMIS is one of the most profound and intelligent works of media I've ever seen. It's also a major pioneer in the realm of indie animation on youtube. I think you'll resonate with it pretty strongly for its Englishness too.

The characters don't really have names,aside from "red guy", "yellow guy" and "duck". LOL... As for the title, Idk if it was ever explained but I really think its supposed to come across as nonsense but actually a bit of irony. As you'd think someone would want a hug when scared...? And then it's reflected in the series itself with it seemingly being harmless and childlike BUT ACTUALLY kinda dark and mature... Just my take o3o
i THINK red guys name being harry is canon? but the names Doi/Manny and Robin for the other two are the most used fanon names!! plus the rest of the teachers names but i wont list those until hes done
There were no more episodes in the past 6 years, Because the TV episodes were even more effort than each of the UA-cam videos. They are genuine full length episodes with so many resources put into small details people might not even notice.

The Channel 4 series is by the same people as the UA-cam series and is just as wierd and just as great. Its episodes are about 25 minutes each.
