Love all your goals. For a lot of them I was saying "me too!" to the screen 🤪. I'm making 2024 the year of the cardigan so will follow along with what ones you decide to make. I'm also knitting my husband a first jumper this year. I think I was settled on the Moby but will read the comments to see if anyone suggested any better options. Thanks for a great video.
Your goals are my goals! I have finally decided to knit a sweater for my husband (who is very knit worthy!) He picked the Stick Season sweater by Rebecca Clow. It's DK and a lovely constructions. I also try to challenge myself with something new. I think this year will be cables. I've done cabled hats, gloves, and the border of a shawl, but not a whole sweater. Spinning-I suggest a shawl quantity (maybe Andera Mowry's traveler shawl?) before a sweater. A sweater's quantity gets to be a bit of a slog. Pausing a long spin is tough too because your rhythm is different each time you start. Socks - watch the vlogs from The Crazy Sock Lady. She really inspires me to knit more socks! She typically knits plain vanilla in fantastic yarns. Happy knitting and happy holidays!
Love your channel . It is so inspiring. Let Mr Youngfolk search ravelry and pick out his own sweater. And let him choose the yarn/colour. Then you you a great chance of him wearing it lol
Photographer / video creator here and I soooo relate to your feelings about the camera on ME. I haven’t posted in months because of how much it stresses me out to set up! 😅
Kaci, you are NOT old, haha! I am 56 and I put all my projects on Ravelry. As you know recording digitally does have some advantages…you will never misplace a note, and it is all searchable. Love your podcast!
I have a recommendation for you regarding sweater patterns. I had never knit a sweater before but recently took an online class with Ann Budd which was based on her book: The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes and Gauges. The book helps you to get a customized fit to four basic sweater styles. You can use any yarn because you adjust the pattern to fit your gauge. You would be able to make sweaters for everyone in your family using the formulas in this book. Because you have knit sweaters before, you might be able to purchase the book and figure it out, but I really benefited from the zoom class experience. People asked questions I would never have thought of, and seeing what each person did with the same basic pattern was really inspiring. I am still working on the sleeves of my sweater, but the body fits me exactly the way I wanted and I am so happy with the results for my first sweater. I find the book has really fired my imagination and I keep seeing garments on tv and considering how I could accomplish something similar with my new knowledge. Ann is a great teacher and I highly recommend you check out her website. She has a monthly newsletter which lets you know what classes she is offering.
Hey Kaci😊 My husband loves the Audierne pullover that I knit him a few years back. I also loved knitting it. There is a lovely cable on the underarm and side along with a small cable section at the back so it has a little bit of cable though mostly stockinette. It was a really fun knit⭐ I highly recommend this pattern👍👍 Thank you for sharing such great videos, I love watching them!😍 Happy knitting 🧶💫
Love your ideas of goal setting. Hopefully you will get a Pair of Socks knit in 2024 since you are intentionally downsizing on the test knits. Something that has helped me look at my stash of Yarn and Fabric differently is this-- when I see all the Estate Sales with loads of yarn and fabric for sale for pennies, I look at my stash and wonder if that would be the fate of what I have if something were to happen to me tomorrow. I'm realizing I have great stuff that I purchased because I love it and wanted to use it, so WHY NOT NOW. There is will always be more to purchase in the future when I get my stash used up. So my main goal in 2024 is USE what I already have. Purchase only if needed to use WITH what I have on hand. And make the things I've been wanting too, without being on the FOMO train in 2024. I can look at and appreciate what comes about in 2024, but I don't have to purchase it.
I love when your podcast pops up on my feed. Your colors, projects and opinions are spot on. I'm 46 and you are not old. Otherwise I would have to change my above opinions, because I live vicariously through your pod cast. 😂
My handknits wardrobe is also lacking cardigans. And, like you, I really want to do a steeked project. The purling is likely the main reason I have hesitated knitting a cardigan. Maybe a steek knitalong?
"Old?" You are so cute. I'm 76 and while I now have physical restrictions, I am not "old." Old is when you are done looking for new experiences and meeting new people and looking at life/the world differently. BTW, great goals for the new year.
I was just going to tell you how much I enjoy your editing and the music you choose but then I saw some of the other comments about problems with hearing voices when music is playing. Do what’s best for your viewers. But I want to say I love your content a lot!!
Have same notebook. Love to write things down. Much more personal! I have the same test knit goals. I say now more and then I have 6. You are right it forces you to get things done. I make myself trade, yarn for something else becomes the test knit item. I have so much yarn that test knits accelerates the usage.....phew!
6:52 35 is not old. I'm older than Epcot and I rely on digital modes of recording things because I can't be trusted to write on paper and still keep track of said paper. I gave up on journals a long time ago.
I like your podcasts and your content. I can appreciate that paper notes taking is more satisfactory than digital however it is so useful when experienced knitters share notes of their projects in Ravelry so we can all benefit from it . Happy Holidays
I plan to buy one of the makers notebooks when I get Christmas money! I had to scour your videos recently to remember when you had talked about it before!
I knit the stag head pullover, by Norah Gaughan for my husband. It is worsted weight, but I felt like it was much lighter weight than I was expecting. It is highly cabled but super fun.
If you watch Laura Penrose you may have seen the Single Malt sweater by Jarrod Flood that she knit in 2021 for her husband. Very handsome with some texture at the top. I watch Ststches and Starlighht and her 10,000 yds or bust goal for this year really got me started on knitting from stash. In looking at my projects I was able to knit 70% from stash and want to keep to that kind of percentage so that I can buy special yarn I might 'need' for a project bbut with a focus on knitting from stash wherever possible. I hope your dad is continuing to recover.
I really appreciated your take on the 2023 retrospective. I too want to knit down my stash and frog some whips. I felt a wave of anxiety come over me when I thought of these two goals of yours. Let’s be tough and brave together!
Hi Kaci! Cutting back on test knits was the best thing I did in 2023. It gave me the opportunity to cast on whatever I wanted to without the looming deadlines of test knits heavy on my shoulders (obviously we do it to ourselves but applying for test knits but the pressure is real!). I decided I didn't want to feel that way or have any resentment towards myself for signing up for more than I wanted to handle and it has felt really good. Tin Can Knits and Moon & Turtle by Kiyomi & Sachiko Burgin have some great options for men's sweaters! I steeked the Academic Vest by Skeindeer and LOVE it. It's an all-over colorwork v-neck vest and you steek the armhole and neck. Cardigans are also on my list for 2024. I have at least 3 in mind...lol. We'll see if what happens!
Remember, age is relative and you are pretty young in my eyes. Always wondered why the podcast is called youngfolk knits! I'm also a paper and pencil person.
I've knit the So Basic sweater by Maxim Cyr twice for my husband. He said the same thing about heavier weight sweaters, but he wears these two and enjoys them. They are very smart looking too.
Instead of a complete Frog, finish or let it linger video, you could do a segment where you present 1-3 lingering projects and then potentially work them into your rotation and podcast if you decide to finish it or if you decide to frog it work in what you might do alternatively with the yarn : )
My husband has loved The Beauceron by Designs by Delz that I had made him. It was a simple color work, if I remember right it was slipped stitch as a colorwork and not a whole lot of floats. The other that he has loved the fit on is Justin's Flannel by Alicia Plummer. He has especially loved how it has fit over his shoulders as they are broader. Both of these are DK/worsted weight, we live in MN so usually lean towards the heavier weights. Good luck finding a pattern, it'll be fun to see what you decide on!
I did the Single Malt in worsted weight wool for my husband. Highly recommend Max’s patterns, especially for men. The fits are great and the patterns are easy to follow.
I want to see your stash! I'm pretty sure I could knit from my own tash every day of the rest of my life and not get through all of my yarn....that is, if I live to 100 from my 46th year 🎉😂. P.s. I love your music choices....
How about a KAL.... 2024 the year of the steek. You brought up a lot of good ideas. I promise to keep notes in Raverly. Especially the items I had problems with and did a lot of modifications, Not only will it help me if I remake it but it will help others.
I always look forward to having coffee ‘with you’ on Thursday mornings. You’re such a natural in front of the camera….able to be real! Hoping that your Dad is continuing to be on a steep recovery trajectory and that you’re all able to enjoy the holiday season together. The ‘husband’ sweater suggestions: One is DK and the other is Worsted. If you visit the ‘projects’ for each, you’ll find that they have both been done in fingering, as well: Wuthering Heights by Les Tricoteurs Volants, and Corcra by Carol Feller. Looking forward to the progress on the ‘husband’ knit……as I am for all your ‘rabbit hole’ projects! Love this podcast!!❤
Love your approach. steaking was fun and very liberating. I did not choose expensive yarn for my first one though, just in case. I try to learn something new with each pattern. You are a wonderful knitter/maker and I/we look forward to see what you create
Loved the Inspo more making in 2024! I DEFINITELY need to use stash yarn. There are so many yarns and many patterns I already have - so obviously I wanted to make them!! Scroll less, knit more! As for your husband, that’s on my list too! My favorites unfortunately all use Worsted, but you are so talented at tweaking, maybe you can make it work: Peaks by Jared Flood (and you’d get to do a mini steek!! It could be your steek practice go!!); Bregne by Fiber Tales and Jaiden by Isabell Kraemer. Can’t wait to see your handspun ❤. Have a joyful and restorative holiday season with your family.
I am so grateful that I discovered your podcast in 2023. Watching your videos is one of my favorite self-care tools. I love taking some time for myself by knitting and watching your latest podcast. You always seem to have the perfect blend of information, inspiration, beautiful aesthetics, and tidbits from your life. Thank you, Kaci! I look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
I just went through all the project bags I’ve set aside with yarn and pattern ideas, then I wrote them all on a little white board. Total is 13 projects!!! I think this will help me prioritize each time I’m ready to start something new, because I can check my list rather than just jump into what’s handy. I stored them all in one place in my studio. After doing that, I also felt like I won’t buy as much new yarn, because I have a sense of abundance (waaaay more than enough TBH!) and projects I’m already looking forward to. Fingers crossed for no new acquisitions, and completion of these ideal projects. 😂 Thanks for another lovely, fun and inspiring ramble, and happy new year to you!! Congrats on honing in on your personal sizing issues. And yay, Here’s to LESS test knits. I did a few and realized I just didn’t need the pressure. You go girl!! ❤ PS steeking is no biggie!! Exciting even. 😂😂😂
maybe start with knitting Mr. Youngfolk a vest? That's what I plan to do for my husband. He's more inclined to wear a vest than a sweater. Thank you for your podcast! I look forward to it always!
I started a knitting journal at the beginning of 2023 and am so glad I did! I have another ready to start for 2024. One of the first pages will be for wips carried over into the new year so I can check them off when I’m done, or they get frogged if necessary. Good luck with yours!
Hi Kaci, 2 things. First you wear you well. I'm glad to see someone is comfortable in their own skin. You are lovely. Second Rebecca from Ceabea(sorry if I've spelled that incorrectly) made her dad a stick season sweater that looked wonderful. Not over the top but with great shaping. I'm pretty sure it's DK weight. Thanks for your great work.
Im making my husband a Lanark from Creabea, and it is in a wool+cotton blend. The zip up seemed like a solid choice for him since he is more of a sweatshirt guy typically than a sweater guy. Hoping that the wool+cotton will make it more versatile to wear in different seasons.
I love the knit your stash goal. I’m going to make a conscious effort to do that. Also, I think we should make it a goal to go to at least one fiber festival together!
Would Mr. Youngfolk knits wear a cardigan? You could knit him a nice lightweight cardigan - even a handspun and steeked cardigan....so many birds with one stone there!
Great goals!! Hope you are able to achieve most of them. If it were me I would not let myself take on a test knit without first finishing one WIP. One test knit for one WIP! I am starting my first sweater for my husband and I chose the Stick Season Sweater by Rebecca Clow. She provides helpful tips for adjusting for a man's sweater. Using Berroco Arno, 57% cotton, 43% Merino. Nice and light since we live in a warm climate also. Good luck and Happy New Year!
My goodness you aren't old! Im 69 and use Knit Companion and Ravelry as well as other programs. Its comes down to a matter of preference and thats okay. You do what works for you, no excuses required.
I wonder if you could combine some goals and feel extra accomplished- like only do test knits for cardigans, etc. 😊 also have you checked out the Eureka Springs fiber festival in the spring? My goals this year include a Slipover and a cabled/textured sweater.
Have you ever heard of Finish it February? The idea being one works through as many as possible and then give yourself permission to put it away for another year.
I cannot lie, I squealed when I saw you on my feed again. I always feel so inspired and encouraged by you. Thank you for sharing your creativity and character and all of the effort you put into it! 💕
The Northland sweater by Petite Knit is worsted wt and The Storm sweater also by Petite Knit is DK wt. Maybe your husband would like one of those. Love your podcasts❤ Merry Christmas
My favorite men's graded sweater I have found is Gib by Andrea Mowry. It is worsted, but I think gauge can be obtained with DK. Also, Maxim Cyr has some great sweater patterns that also keep interest with stitch patterns. I also am on board with knitting more cardigans! I want to be in more test knits as I am currently in my first one, but I will take your story as a cautionary tale to make sure I am only committing to what I can complete while also choosing knits in my queue. Thank you for your time making thee videos! I love listening and being inspired by you :)
Thank you for another great video! Could you please share your shawl pattern that you're wearing and the yarn used? It is beautiful and seems very versatile!
I completely forgot to share what I’m wearing I’m going to add it in the description! It’s the baubles shawl by Andrea mowry and I made it with magpie fibers singles base!
Good morning Kaci!! I’m working on my knitting goals for 2024 too - and this is so helpful and timely. And I feel you on the keeping track of everything. It seems like I skip that part of my project because I am so ready for the next project!! 😂 one of my goals is to BUST MY STASH!! Girl, it is out of hand. I expect it to come to life and demand to be fed any day now!! And I want to make the knits in the books I purchased over that past 3 years 😊 I have another question for you! Is that a string of pearls plant beside you? If so, I would love to know your secret for caring for it. My daughter gave me one and I almost immediately tortured it to death. At least that’s what it looked like! Specifically how you water it? I apparently overwatered mine and all the little pearls kind of exploded! 😢 Finally, so proud of you for getting monetized!! Well deserved!!! And so glad your Dad is improving!! ❤ Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
Hello Kaci, I have never done a test knit. I work full time and my knitting time is so precious to me that I will only knit things which are on my personal knitting list.
I love this episode, so inspiring and I can relate to a lot of things here. For your husband pullover I recommend El Puntal de Belen Fernandez. Although, I'll knit the Moby sweater to my husband in 2024. One of my goals for 2024 is to try steeking too! but not a garment haha. But my highest priority is to finish my wips!!! (16 are to much wips?, sure they are....) Buying less yarn.... let me know if you get it, because ..... I'm failing sooo badly. Merry Christmas and happy new year!!! and Happy knitting!
KACI! You are a stunning person! Great on camera and a wonderful personality!! And I am 52 so you are young! (But I hear you about writing things down that is on my intention list too). Almost all of your intentions are so close to mine! My husband is a potter and I want to make him a sweater and he says he needs something cooler. Looking forward to seeing men’s sweater recommendations. Appreciate all of your thoughts. Also, one of my intentions for next year is to start making clay buttons so I’d love to see a podcast on notions and accessories in 2024.
Such a helpful video. Help me think about my priorities for the next year. I don't know if it gives you the same kind of helpful pressure as a test knit but maybe a WIP KAL with all of your community might be a way to get some done. Maybe take a month or two and get as many wips done as possible? Hope your dad's feeling better and that you guys have a wonderful holiday season.
Good morning Kacie. Love your videos, they’re my favorite and just perfect! I’m an advanced beginner and top of my 2024 goals is learning first to use the drop spindle and advanced, hopefully, to a my own wheel. Narrowed down my choices eventually to Kiwi, Ladybug or Lundrum Original, but I’m still open to other choices. Thank you! I’ve learned so much!
You've definitely inspired me to start thinking about my 2024 knitting goals! And make sure you set yourself up for success by being mindful of checking in on your goals - maybe set aside 15 minutes once a week to update your knitting notebook; and set small mini-goals, like pick one WIP to start with and try to finish it by the end of February, or pick one yarn from stash to cast on. Wishing you all the best in the new year!
Hi those are some good goals we always have good intentions and I could apply alot if them in my life especially the last one I'm sitting here looking at my stash and thinking I need to get some different yarn fir a project I have yarn for so your not alone. 😊 Have a Merry Christmas
You are a sweet breath of fresh air! Regarding knitting a sweater for your husband, I have never knit one for mine, but he is also warm blooded, and we live in a temperate climate. But he loves the sweater vests that I have made for him. They're perfect for his air conditioned office. Right now on my needles is the Amos Vest by Martin Storey.
Love all of the goals, Kaci! I too plan on buying less yarn in 2024, although I’m going a bit hardcore and doing a semi yarn ban for the year. I think this will help me accomplish my signing up for less test knits goals too since I will need to keep it to whatever works with my stash. 😅 let’s see how it all works out in the end. Hehe!
I am also gonna keep a making journal in 2024! Thanks for sharing your goals - I love that you have goals that incorporate the "thinking" or more cerebral part of making instead of just "'make xx item". It's definitely inspiring me to also think in that vein for my 2024 goals!
Fun video, Kaci. 😊 I'm a huge fan of Knitting Pure & Simple patterns. They are usually very clear, simple, well fitting patterns. I made my husband the "Neck Down Pullover for Men" (pattern #247V). It looks great on him, and your husband might like it as well. Hope your father is doing much better. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas! 🎄
I have a few suggestions for men's sweaters. There is a new Amirs/Brooklyn Tweed collaboration just out called Northern Lights. All the patterns are for men and women. Also, Anne Hanson (Knitspot) has some great men's sweaters. Hope you find the right pattern for your hubster.
I so enjoy your podcast! This episode is such an inspiration as we look forward to a new year! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season :)
Hi. Do you have a video showing your AM Baubles shawl? Id love to see it in full. Love watching your videos and find I'm waiting for the upload each week. ❤❤❤
I think I did back in episode two! I can’t remember if I did in another video hmm 🤔 I can’t believe I forgot to talk about it on this episode tho 😂 I will try to share about it on the next one! And I have lots of pics on my Ravelry project page!
Hi Kaci, I always love watching your videos! But I have a request to make them a bit more accessible, if you are open to considering that. For me it is very hard (to nearly impossible sometimes) to listen to someone talking while there is music at the same time. My brain is just not able to filter out the 'unimportant noise' from the 'this is interesting information I want to understand'. So it would help me very much if you would do the sit down and talk parts of your videos without background music. Then I would be able to enjoy your lovely and entertaining company while knitting :-)
Believe me, it is no joke if you suffer from hyperacusis, which it sounds like this very polite and constructive commenter may have. It’s not widely known about and at first seems puzzling to people who don’t have it, because the noise to them seems pleasant or not noticeable, so I’m not surprised that people are bemused when they are first told about it it, but honestly, it can be very debilitating for those who have to live with it x
Oh I thought it was just me who was like this! I too find it hard to focus on the spoken word while there’s background music. I’ve never mentioned it in a comments section before for fear that people thinking that I am being picky but I do find it much easier to follow when there’s just talking or just music. ❤
This is a great point! I always struggle with artistic creativity vs it being more functional. One thing I can do is cut most of the music down to the segways and have it fade out sooner. I will work on this. Thank you all for sticking around and your support!!! Couldn’t do it without you 😘 🥰 🤗
I knit the fort pullover by Jared Flood for both my fiance and my brother and they both love it! It is worsted weight, but I did one in brooklyn tweed shelter and so it's quite light.
Your goals reminded me for my goals for the next year which is pretty laughable. I need to knit sweater for myself instead of knitting sweaters for my husband, my kids, other people. I need to knit something for myself… I did’nt ! I know this is crazy, but I didn’t. I did half sweater, then a frog it so, I need to knit something for myself. And for the steeking part, I’m really interested in steeking and I would love to try seeking to because I think it’s easy way to get a sweater without purling so much, but the steeking part is so frightening and intimidating me. I would love to try that too.
Love your idea to try and get more expertise on different types of fiber, I’m playing with that too ! Also, what is the absolutely gorgeous shawl you’re wearing ?!
I just finished knitting my first sweater for my husband this week! I knitted the Fort sweater by Jared Flood and really enjoyed it. The only modification that I did was to exclude the elbow patches. I also liked the Whispers pattern by Les Garçons and think that will be my next one for him. ☺️
Love your goals, and I share many of them, except for that buy less yarn thing! Inspired me to at least think about my intentions for the year. I want to suggest The Knitters Dude by Andrea Rangel which would fit some of your goals. I made it for my son and it's steeked. Loved the pattern so much I made it for my daughter too. Another sweater I made for my husband that is just gorgeous is the Letho We by Natasha Hornsby. Finally, I'm knitting The Moby sweater by Petite Knit which comes in sizes for men as well. It looks quite cabled and complex but is not. Much simpler than it looks in terms of cables.
Totally feel you on sizing! I also have a large difference between my high and full bust and picking by my high bust gives me the best fit for sure. Learning about adding short row bust darts has been such a game changer as well, highly recommend trying that out if you haven't before.
Hey! I love your videos! Thank you so much for all your amazing content this year, it has been such an inspiration ❤ RE patterns for Mr youngfolk, the waffle sweater by Steven west is a great DK weight mens sweater pattern. I'm making it for my husband now 😊
Love all your goals.
All great tips and ideas!!! Thanks!
Love your channel . It is so inspiring.
Let Mr Youngfolk search ravelry and pick out his own sweater. And let him choose the yarn/colour. Then you you a great chance of him wearing it lol
Great idea!!
Photographer / video creator here and I soooo relate to your feelings about the camera on ME. I haven’t posted in months because of how much it stresses me out to set up! 😅
Exactly!!
Kaci, you are NOT old, haha! I am 56 and I put all my projects on Ravelry. As you know recording digitally does have some advantages…you will never misplace a note, and it is all searchable. Love your podcast!
So true! I’m aiming for putting them on both Ravelry and my notebook 😉
I have a recommendation for you regarding sweater patterns. I had never knit a sweater before but recently took an online class with Ann Budd which was based on her book: The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes and Gauges. Thank you so so much
Love your ideas of goal setting.

I knit Andrew Mowery's Kip sweater for my husband and he loves it!
The Gib sweater?
@@YoungfolkKnits yes, that’s what I meant. 😂😂
@@bjrudin that looks like a great pattern!
Great video Kaci! Would love to know which online spinning classes you found really helpful and educational. I would love to do an online class!
I chat about them with links in my beginner spinning video!
Hello from Swansea,Illinois!
Hello!
My handknits wardrobe is also lacking cardigans. And, like you, I really want to do a steeked project. The purling is likely the main reason I have hesitated knitting a cardigan. Maybe a steek knitalong?
Maybe we should haha! 😂
"Old?" You are so cute. I'm 76 and while I now have physical restrictions, I am not "old." Old is when you are done looking for new experiences and meeting new people and looking at life/the world differently. BTW, great goals for the new year.
Can’t wait to see Mr Youngfolkknits’ sweater 💙
Martin Storey has the best designs for men in both fingering & DK weights that I can't stop drooling over.
I will look!
I was just going to tell you how much I enjoy your editing and the music you choose but then I saw some of the other comments about problems with hearing voices when music is playing. Do what’s best for your viewers. But I want to say I love your content a lot!!

Haha! True!
6:52 35 is not old. I'm older than Epcot and I rely on digital modes of recording things because I can't be trusted to write on paper and still keep track of said paper. I gave up on journals a long time ago.
Haha! I love being able to go digital and analog!
You mentioned men's sweaters. I knit the Alpenglow by Andrea Mowery for my husband. An expensive sweater but he loves it.
Oh I bet that turned out beautifully
I like your podcasts and your content. I can appreciate that paper notes taking is more satisfactory than digital however it is so useful when experienced knitters share notes of their projects in Ravelry so we can all benefit from it . Happy Holidays
Fair enough! I should definitely use both!
I plan to buy one of the makers notebooks when I get Christmas money! I had to scour your videos recently to remember when you had talked about it before!
It’s worth it!
I knit the stag head pullover, by Norah Gaughan for my husband. It is worsted weight, but I felt like it was much lighter weight than I was expecting. It is highly cabled but super fun.
I will check this out!
This is a great idea!
I really appreciated your take on the 2023 retrospective. I too want to knit down my stash and frog some whips. I felt a wave of anxiety come over me when I thought of these two goals of yours. Let’s be tough and brave together!
We can do it’ 😂
Hello My Dear! I really need to follow your example! Also I love the academic vest! It’s gorgeous!!!! And thank you for the pattern recs!
Remember, age is relative and you are pretty young in my eyes. Always wondered why the podcast is called youngfolk knits! I'm also a paper and pencil person.
I kind of pulled the name from one of my favorite songs! Young Folks!
That’s a very good idea
I love your goals. You are so much like me. My WiPs are out of control. I keep seeing things I want to knit... LOL
Great suggestions thank you!
I did the Single Malt in worsted weight wool for my husband. Highly recommend Max’s patterns, especially for men. The fits are great and the patterns are easy to follow.
I have this pattern!!
I want to see your stash! I'm pretty sure I could knit from my own tash every day of the rest of my life and not get through all of my yarn....that is, if I live to 100 from my 46th year 🎉😂. P.s. I love your music choices....
I’m scared to flash my stash! 😅
How about a KAL.... 2024 the year of the steek.
You brought up a lot of good ideas. I promise to keep notes in Raverly. Especially the items I had problems with and did a lot of modifications, Not only will it help me if I remake it but it will help others.
So true!! And good idea ❤
These are re great suggestions! Thank you!
Many of your goals resonate with me. I plan to be better at using my stash, buying less yarn, writing things down and working on fit.
I hope we can do it!
Love your approach. steaking was fun and very liberating. I did not choose expensive yarn for my first one though, just in case. I try to learn something new with each pattern. You are a wonderful knitter/maker and I/we look forward to see what you create
Thank you so much! ❤❤
Great ideas!!!!
Love your goals and intentions. I made Gib II for my partner. Nice pattern, but you might want to change the neckline, as it comes up pretty high.
That's a great idea! And good tip!
Single malt! I have been thinking about several of Max's patterns. Happy New Year! And let's make some socks and cardigans!!
Wow, thank you!
Thanks for another lovely, fun and inspiring ramble, and happy new year to you!! Congrats on honing in on your personal sizing issues. And yay, Here’s to LESS test knits. I did a few and realized I just didn’t need the pressure. You go girl!! ❤
PS steeking is no biggie!! Exciting even. 😂😂😂
That’s a great idea for your wips!
maybe start with knitting Mr. Youngfolk a vest? That's what I plan to do for my husband. He's more inclined to wear a vest than a sweater. Thank you for your podcast! I look forward to it always!
That's a great idea!
I started a knitting journal at the beginning of 2023 and am so glad I did! I have another ready to start for 2024. One of the first pages will be for wips carried over into the new year so I can check them off when I’m done, or they get frogged if necessary. Good luck with yours!
Thanks!!
I keep forgetting I wanted to knit him this sweater! Thank you for reminding me!!!!
Im making my husband a Lanark from Creabea, and it is in a wool+cotton blend. The zip up seemed like a solid choice for him since he is more of a sweatshirt guy typically than a sweater guy. Hoping that the wool+cotton will make it more versatile to wear in different seasons.
Nice!!!!!
We have quite a few goals in common… one of them is knitting a sweater for my hubby and a matching one for my son. I chose one from Petite knit ❤
Love it!!
Love your podcast! I hope you have many blessings for you and your family in the year to come!
Thank you so much!
Have you thought about a cotton merino mix for your hubbies sweater? It'll be cooler
I hadn’t thought of that actually! Good idea!
I love the knit your stash goal. I’m going to make a conscious effort to do that. Also, I think we should make it a goal to go to at least one fiber festival together!
We can do it 💪
Would Mr. Youngfolk knits wear a cardigan? You could knit him a nice lightweight cardigan - even a handspun and steeked cardigan....so many birds with one stone there!
Oooooo I like how you think! 😂
Great ideas! I love this!
My goodness you aren't old! Im 69 and use Knit Companion and Ravelry as well as other programs. Its comes down to a matter of preference and thats okay. You do what works for you, no excuses required.
Hahaha! I just revert back to a notebook
I wonder if you could combine some goals and feel extra accomplished- like only do test knits for cardigans, etc. 😊 also have you checked out the Eureka Springs fiber festival in the spring? My goals this year include a Slipover and a cabled/textured sweater.
Good idea ❤
Have you ever heard of Finish it February? The idea being one works through as many as possible and then give yourself permission to put it away for another year.
That’s a great idea!
I cannot lie, I squealed when I saw you on my feed again. I always feel so inspired and encouraged by you. Thank you for sharing your creativity and character and all of the effort you put into it! 💕
Awww thank you!!!!!! ❤
So motivational. Thank you 😊
6:38 don't worry, im only 17 and i feel the same way lol. pen and paper all the way
The Northland sweater by Petite Knit is worsted wt and The Storm sweater also by Petite Knit is DK wt. Maybe your husband would like one of those. Love your podcasts❤ Merry Christmas
I think one of these might be what I end up with!
Oh, I see it on the previous episode, Plump It Up Shawl, if I'm not mistaken. Love it!
And I want to make the knits in the books I purchased over that past 3 years 😊
I have another question for you! Is that a string of pearls plant beside you? If so, I would love to know your secret for caring for it. My daughter gave me one and I almost immediately tortured it to death. At least that’s what it looked like! Specifically how you water it? I apparently overwatered mine and all the little pearls kind of exploded! 😢
Finally, so proud of you for getting monetized!! Well deserved!!! And so glad your Dad is improving!! ❤ Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
Thank you! And it is a string of turtles! I also have a string of pearls but I only water them once the soil is dry
Hello Kaci, I have never done a test knit. I work full time and my knitting time is so precious to me that I will only knit things which are on my personal knitting list.
That’s very smart! I’m trying to get back to that!
I’m glad these are universal problems haha
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Kaci! You should watch the patterns of Max the knitter from Les Garçons for your husband. He have some beautiful design.
Thanks for the tip!
That’s a good idea!
I think those are great options!
Great ideas!!!
Hi those are some good goals we always have good intentions and I could apply alot if them in my life especially the last one I'm sitting here looking at my stash and thinking I need to get some different yarn fir a project I have yarn for so your not alone. 😊 Have a Merry Christmas
Thanks for sharing!!
Love that you pursue new goals and dreams! Always keep growing in knowledge and adventure ❤
Always! 😘
Oooooo this is a good idea that hadn’t even entered my mind 🤔
Hey! I made the Gib II by Andrea Mowry for my husband and he loves it. It was also really fun to knit!
Perfect!!!
Hehe!
Good idea! Haha maybe it will help me too 😂
I am also gonna keep a making journal in 2024! Thanks for sharing your goals - I love that you have goals that incorporate the "thinking" or more cerebral part of making instead of just "'make xx item". It's definitely inspiring me to also think in that vein for my 2024 goals!
Thank you dear ❤❤❤❤❤
Great plane. Love your work - planning on writing a list for myself of knits to do as well as live stuff. Have fun.
Thank you! You too!
Wonderful!
Happy holidays Kaci!
I'll check it out!
These are all fantastic goals! It gave me some ideas for the next year too ☺️ Happy new year!! So happy to call you a friend!
Thank you my sweet friend!! ❤
I so enjoy your podcast! This episode is such an inspiration as we look forward to a new year! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season :)
Thank you so much!
Great goals Kaci 😊 it’s has been a delight to watch your videos this year you always bring a smile to my face 😊
Oh thank you so much!!!
Hi. I love max the knitter for my guys. His patterns are great. ❣️😊
I have the single malt!
And I have lots of pics on my Ravelry project page!
so many of my 2024 goals are exactly the same as yours ;D Like writing things down and more cardigans!!!
Yay!!!!❤❤❤❤
I love the rift by jared flood
Good one!
I made my husband Jane Richmond’s Mens Classic Raglan Sweater this past year. I used a woolen spun worsted weight yarn. It’s a great pattern.
Great pattern!!!!
You’re kidding, right?
I absolutely and totally agree, and you've worded it beautifully and "inoffensively". Please Kaci, love you! But this!🥰
This is a great point! I always struggle with artistic creativity vs it being more functional. One thing I can do is cut most of the music down to the segways and have it fade out sooner. I will work on this. Thank you all for sticking around and your support!!! Couldn’t do it without you 😘 🥰 🤗
I can recommend the Single Malt Pullover from Maxim Cyr for men ❤ it is an amazing pattern
I'll check it out!
My husband really likes the Jaiden sweater by Isabell Kraemer that I made him.
Ooooo nice!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family. Goals are great..... wishing you every success in 2024.
Thank you ❤
I knit the fort pullover by Jared Flood for both my fiance and my brother and they both love it! It is worsted weight, but I did one in brooklyn tweed shelter and so it's quite light.
Awesome thank you!
My plan is use what i have and try to stash down i have not bought yarn in more than a year but i do want to use what i have
I’m jealous of your success in a no buy!
Well it sounds like you are a very giving person! I wish I knit more things for others and less for myself!
Love your idea to try and get more expertise on different types of fiber, I’m playing with that too !
Also, what is the absolutely gorgeous shawl you’re wearing ?!
It’s the baubles shawl by Andrea mowry! I can’t believe i forgot to tell what I was wearing 😅
I just finished knitting my first sweater for my husband this week! I knitted the Fort sweater by Jared Flood and really enjoyed it. The only modification that I did was to exclude the elbow patches. I also liked the Whispers pattern by Les Garçons and think that will be my next one for him. ☺️
That is awesome!
Thank you so much for the suggestions!!! They are great
Totally feel you on sizing! I also have a large difference between my high and full bust and picking by my high bust gives me the best fit for sure. Learning about adding short row bust darts has been such a game changer as well, highly recommend trying that out if you haven't before.
Love that!
Hey! I love your videos! Thank you so much for all your amazing content this year, it has been such an inspiration ❤ RE patterns for Mr youngfolk, the waffle sweater by Steven west is a great DK weight mens sweater pattern. I'm making it for my husband now 😊
Thank you so much!!
I cannot remember seeing your purpurea knit from yeti finished.
It’s not done yet 😂😂😂😂
