- It's that wonderful time of year again - its time for another Chanel price increase!
But this time, we're not talking the usual 3 or 5%... because now, each classic bag has gone up by at LEAST 10%, with the highest at a whopping 17%!
As you can imagine, this news sent shockwaves across the luxury community... so of course we had to talk about it, while the news is hot!

I see it the same way. I'm glad that I've sold half of my CF collection. I no longer feel comfortable wearing them in everyday life like I used to. I still have enough, but I realize that I am no longer Chanel's target group. I'm completely at peace with that.
Overall, the prices for luxury handbags have risen incredibly. It was clear that Chanel would react in this way. Hermes has also just raised its prices considerably. I'm kind of turned off by that…
I have a small Chanel collection (5 bags, used to have 7), and I haven't bought a new one in years. My last flap was $4900 and I thought that was extortionate. I agree with you about safety concerns--I rarely wear them now and the only one I'll wear without worry is the Reissue. I don't plan on selling these but not sure what to do at this point.

As much as fomo is a thing I don't think it makes much sense to think of these bags as investments as you would an Hermes bag:
-the rise of super fakes
-the quality issues that they don't seem keen to fix
-more people trying to sell to take advantage of the prices flooding the market equals driving down prices
-indeed security would be an issue
The way to go is certainly second hand for quality details like the gold plating, but the prices atm are actually on a downward trend, this could change off course.

Never owned a Chanel and keep saving, but now they outpriced themselves so moving on to other brands who are not being greedy. My hard earned money can go somewhere else.
Every person with a CF is the target for sure. The fact they don’t know how much they cost means they only inflate the figure in their mind. In reality it’s the criminals job to know how much the CF costs because they still have to sell it and want to get top dollar. I never wear my Reissue walking around London. I’m a Londoner and that’s just pure insanity to me. I only wear them when I’m driving or with security.
Maybe when my Italian Mastiff grows up I’ll have no problem going for a walk around London with my Reissue. Something tells me the criminals won’t want anything on my person 🤣

It is a smart move for Chanel. There’s constantly a line outside Chanel, so why won’t they increase the price?
No price increase! It's February 5th now...
so if i buy right now a second hand chanel bag for the original price, i wait some time i could sell it for double the price?

The real price of a chanel bag is €250. It costs almost nothing to be made.
You are just paying the brand.
At least Hermes are handmade. Chanel are not.
Because gullible will still buy them.
