- When I first saw Lubadh on paper it reminded me of the Morphagene a bit, but after seeing a demo from designer Jason Lim (2 hours!) I just knew it was something completely different - and a perfect match for the music I love most. In Part 01 I'll start with something simple, a pretty little melody from Endorphin.es Godspeed that gets recorded, dubbed and degraded by Lubadh into an ambient bed of sound. Lubadh has a dedicated tape degradation and tape delay mode which are not used here because I wanted to keep the patching as simple as possible in part 01 of this series. In part 02 I will dive into all the features in a short reference guide. So in this video 'degradation' simply takes place by dubbing a recording with the tape saturation, compression and mild filtering from the module.

Sometime back, I listened to a great episode of Radiolab that discussed William Basinski's Disintegration Loops. They played a series of loops on a piece of tape that was literally shedding away with every repetition. It was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever heard. Lubadh kind of reminds me of this. Stunning.
Sorry for the late reply, but a big thanks for you comment!
Those are so nice. Luckily there are devices that replicate that in a such a beautiful way
I had a Morphagene for a some time, I honestly didn't care for it, this seems like more of what what I was hoping for. And it seems a little bit simpler to use.
The more I play with Lúbadh the more it plays with my tape loops :-) Thanks for demos
Thanks, yes it's an excellent machine. Very happy with it.
Beautiful sounds and great walkthrough! Liked the format.
Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome! Looking forward to Part 02!!
I hope you've found part two :)
Beautiful Instruo modules. Really interesting video.
Thank you Jerome!
Love this. Can’t wait to see more as there’s so little info or demos about this
Thank you! Part 02 coming soon!
I love it! I wonder what you would prefer: Lubadh or Arbhar in addition to Morphagene? Thanks for your advise.
That's difficult to tell. I think Lubadh is more like the Morphagene and Arbhar is more like Clouds. So in addition to the Morphagene i'd pick an Arbhar. Also, I managed to figure out the Morph but I am still learning Lubadh.
@@CinematicLaboratory ok, thanks. I am about to buy a MI Clouds. Should I rather go for an Arbhar?
@@pascaljaeggi7223 Mutable Instruments is planning a Clouds 2, it may be in stores very soon - probably weeks or months. I think I'd wait for that one. Compared to old Clouds I'd suggest Arbhar or a smarter clone with SuperParasites on it.
@@CinematicLaboratory I will pick up a Arbhar today. Thank you for your advise.
@@pascaljaeggi7223 Very cool! I think you'll love it!
I look forward to Instruo #Lubadh Part 2
I will start working on it tomorrow
@@CinematicLaboratory Thank you)
Gorgeous. What reverb are you using?
That's the Clouds factory reverb. The little 8HP module next to Lubadh happens to be a Clouds clone built by 'early' Instruo. Anyway, the reverb is simple, but really effective as end of chain space.
@@CinematicLaboratory ah nice. When I had Beads I was always surprised by how good the reverb on that sounded too. Thanks for the great videos!
Your videos are so great! I'm wondering, though, how you were able to dub both decks of Lubadh like that? I keep trying to do that with mine, just sample a melody, and then start recording with both loopers, but I keep running into a lot of feedback, even though I keep the inputs low. Any suggestions?
I used a very simple patch for this one, one input in deck 1, one output from deck 2. You may want to set the decks in to 'arm/record' mode so it only lets you hear the input during recording. You'll need to press both top buttons (above the reels) and then press the lower white record buttons until they're orange. Then you can use gates to arm/record and stop the recordings on individual decks (or linked). I am preparing a loop recording tutorial but it will take some time to plan & finish...
@@CinematicLaboratory I didn't think about using different arming modes, that's a good idea! Thanks so much for the info! I eagerly wait that tutorial, as well as whatever else you're working on!
Just got my Lubadh , this video was a great inspiration!
I really have to use it more, but I have seriously run out of space...
No space , new case!?
@@endless_arps No, it's become a matter of no room, bigger room.
Oh I see , that is a bit more complicated 🤔 You can always put one or two racks at my place 😂 I would not mind!
its cool how at 3:30 it goes from pretty to very menacing
El capistan all day. My favorite part of that pedal also the bluebird does it really well which I own and also is one of my favorite parts of the petal,This is a cool module though I need another case I guess Love your videos. You do such a great job.
thanks for the video!
You are very welcome!
suuuuper pissed at the noise from mine….i paid for something better than horrific digital interference stomping all over every single recording. My nautilus in the same case right next to it it practically silent by comparison
This sounds like a technical problem and Instruo service should look into it. I never had any noise issues with it. I have them both nearby so I'll check and compare. It's best to know for sure than to speculate.
@@CinematicLaboratorythanks, ok, it’s good to know this might be isolated to this unit in particular. There is a shrill repetitive noise that goes away when the usb stick is taken out, but other repetitive digital noises remain. It is not a pleasant background noise
