    Makes more sense to install the AVs beforehand as many viruses know how to hide once installed, especially if they got admin privileges. They can basically just hijack the OS and tell your AVs that it must've been the wind.

    • @MasterGoat595
      @MasterGoat595 2 роки тому +76

      Installing them beforehand wouldn’t change the ability of a virus to circumvent the antivirus software. If, for example, a virus is programmed to become dormant when antivirus software is detected the video wouldn’t be as funny Lol.

    No joke, in the real world, I have actually seen 1,000 viruses on someone's computer. Not anyone who deliberately sabotaged their computer, but a real, normal end-user. Norton (what they had) missed all of them. Malwarebytes at least cleaned all of them out after a few times. Took an 30 minutes to scan and then almost an hour to clean the first time. Then had to run the program again after a reboot to fully get rid of everything. They got on the phone with Norton while I was there and were not happy at all, lol. Don't know what happened after I left, but I advised them to reset all their passwords/pins/etc and get all new credit cards.

    • @nervsouly
      @nervsouly 2 роки тому +55

      I'm using Malewarebytes too. Back in the day I had Avira and sometimes stuff would slip past it and then I'd clean it with MWB back when it was just an executable. Nowadays I'm subscribed to their anti virus scanner instead of Avira and also use the browser extension. Never got any issues. I'm beginning to think the more a program is being advertised, and the more it tries to convince potential customers with all the fancy additional features you get for subbing, such as VPN, system boost and what not - the worse it actually defends you.

      I saw a similar one when I was cleaning up my co-worker's laptops. One guy's desktop shortcuts were so numerous they covered the screen and continued in a scrolled list from the taskbar. A very long, slow scroll.
      I was thinking "holy shit. This guy has clicked on everything that ever popped up on his screen!" I really wanted to tackle it but I was flying home in 3 days so I told him it was just too big a job to have done that fast and it'd be a good idea to at least tape his webcam until he can get someone to clean it. It seemed to run ok somehow. I guess everything was in balance, like Mr. Burns.

      It's possible that running all those av's at the same time could have caused interference when files are checked. It could've skipped files that were already being checked by another av. I'm just speculating though I don't really know how that works. At that point though, having that many viruses on the computer it would probably be better to just reimage the computer and hope no virus infected your wifi and gotten into any other devices connected to your wifi.

    Something to note about your scan: Typically, when a AntiVirus finds a virus, it will quarantine it. I'm going to guess that when a file is quarantined other scanners cannot find it or scan it, thus why some of them only found 1 or 2. That's still low af, but this could explain why it happened.

    • @MASAo7
      @MASAo7 2 роки тому +92

      Also when a file is quarantined by anti-virus software that can cause a second AV to think it's seeing virus-like behaviour so it quarantines the quarantined file, which in turn can trigger the first AV to quarantine that freshly quarantined file. And so on...
      I ended up with more virus detections than there were files on my computer before I figured out what was going on.

My father once managed to accidentally overclock his ventilator fans inside the casing of his pc so badly that they literrally overheated it to the point of starting to smoke from the friction. He could not turn them off anymore either. All he could do in the end was to emergency shut down his pc, open the casing, remove the smoldering remains of his fans, look for and repair any newly torn cables and molten bits, NOT install new fans, leave the casing open, turn the pc on in safe mode and see if he could figure out what he did to undo it before installing new fans, so they would not commit suicide on him. To be fair between him setting three separate pcs on fire in three very different ways and me managing to blue screen my OS on three separate pcs on seven different instances for seven completely different reasons, we have a bit of a bad track record. Videos like this should never be taken seriously. No antivirus is going to work properly with hundreds of active malware samples installed before hand. AV products are designed to prevent, removal is an afterthought for most AV vendors because once you bypass initial defenses like signatures, heuristics, and behavioral analysis, there's only so much that in-memory detection and remediation engines can do.
      Not to mention he had like 10 AV programs running at once, which often causes conflicts that can prevent AV programs from properly detecting and removing malware.

    That's funny, I had the almost exact same thing happen to me back in the late 90's. I had downloaded a bunch of files off of a newsroup and accidentally highlighted about 30 to 40 of them and then hit the enter key, opening all of them before I could see what they were. Sure enough one of them was an executable called Tweety.exe. It didn't seem to do anything and I figured I was screwed anyway so I didn't really worry about it.
    About 30 - 60 min later a notepad kept opening up on my desktop and I was like WTF? So I kept closing it until I saw someone typing on it. Long story short: They basically said the same thing to me, your guy said to you and he was really quite cool actually. And ended up sparking my interest in Cybersecurity which is what I've been doing for the last 15 years or so now.
