Ah, Latria, gotta love the creepy atmosphere! The minimalist sound design works really well here, though bumping up the light level in the settings is also highly recommended (both for viewers' and players' experiences). Later games let you use torches/lanterns, but not this one. It's definitely a confusing area to navigate. And I see you're getting acquainted with the omnipresent Fromsoft boss, gravity. :)
In order of some things you were pondering about through the video:
    - The Flamelurker shortcut often involves a lot of deaths figuring out the spots to drop. Since you're already past Flamelurker, don't worry about looking up a video of somebody doing it if it gets frustrating.
    - It is very important to repair your gear, your attack/defense power plummets if your gear's durability gets low enough to break. That said, you can normally go a decent while without repairing before most gear breaks.
    - Two-handing (2H) a weapon has a few notable properties. First, the attacks change. Sometimes not very much, like the spear attacks are very similar. Other weapons might have overhead or thrusting attacks when 2H instead of horizontal swings. Experimenting is encouraged here, you might like one attack set better than another. Second, when 2H, the game considers you to have 1.5x your strength stat for the purpose of being able to wield a weapon.
    - Don't worry about world tendency, assuming you aren't planning to 100% the game. It can have effects like making enemies stronger/weaker, blocking/opening paths to hidden areas and spawning new enemies, but it's a big pain to manage and there's no way to understand how to manage it without looking up a guide. It also is only a mechanic in this game, none of the later From games use it.
    - Certain upgrade paths give different special effects (under the stat bonuses on that screen) in addition to different stat scaling. Dragonstone, for example, gives fire damage to a weapon, while mercurystone enables poison buildup.
    - About the disappointing Estoc damage at the end, that's partly because the skeletons in 4-1 take more damage from fire and less from piercing attacks, and your stat spread also benefits the dragon sword more.

Gravity does seem to have it out for me. 😆
Thank you much for the tips! It's nice to know repairing equipment is not a time or currency waster.
I'll take your advice and try 2H on weapons.
And I'll definitely mess with brightening the game. I tried in a previous episode through the options in game but didn't see too much of an improvement. I'll take a closer look.

That opening area in shrine of storms is a nightmare to deal with because the boss is another gimmick boss, but not as closely as armor spider or dragon god, but he is blind and only acquires you by sound, so if you play it right its usually a win on the first try, but the one after him is not fun at all

Ah! Thanks for the heads up!
