Sean's style combined with Pereira training really helped the results here. Throw feints and look for an opening but also don't overly commit because this guy can KO you before finish blinking. This isn’t boxing. Those are 4 ounce gloves. His chin is wide open for a right hand. Theres a reason the Philly shell isn’t as popular in MMA as it is in boxing. 4 ounce gloves cut right through the gap, the shoulder isn’t good enough to consistent stop right hand counters when you drop your left hand. With 12 or 16 ounce gloves, yeah, it works because it deflects the shot and takes some of the power off it so that even if it does land, it doesn’t land clean. In MMA, an accurate right hand can go right over the shoulder and hit the chin clean. DJ knows exactly what he’s talking about.
@@TonecrafteLuthierybut Strickland has been using shoulder roll successfully for ages. As has Dustin poirier. I agree that it’s not as effective as in boxing but it’s still a valid defence.

GOAT, please, record a video with pov gopro on (head or chest) and please break down the first person POV you have of the void. When you break down distance and footwork its easy to see when you are in spectator mode but when you are in real time it feels much different. The void collapses fast + people who are on the edge of the void, how to close void with footwork and headmovement to ''force them to fight'. Appreciate the content as always. #3
Izzy did not let his hands go in this one. For being a counter puncher he barely countered Sean. Honestly Sean’s jab might be one of the best in the ufc. It’s good because he stays defensive and does damage without overexposing himself.
Im not a fighter. Definitely not the goat like DJ. But, what I noticed most was the quickness of Strickland's footwork during the fight. I couldn't keep track of the number of strikes Adesanya missed because Strickland just wasn't there anymore. Just an inch or two out of range.
This was one of the most surprising outcomes of a fight that i've ever seen. But i've come to understand how Strickland won this fight, because Adesanya likes to keep his distance against his opponents, so that's why Strickland's fighting style was ultimately his cryptonite.
I think a missed aspect of Sean’s game is that he rarely puts himself in a position to take a clean counter-strike. Even when he commits to a strike… he usually angles his body/head in a way that would make any counter attack get checked or a glancing blow at best. (Even when DJ is pointing out open counter strikes… Sean’s head is leaning away from Izzy’s fist.) Aside from the Pereira hook… I can’t think of any clean shots that landed on Sean in recent memory. And that wasn’t even a counter… it was just a sneaky left hook that knocked Sean out cold. His forward/backward movement is also second to none. He’s not as polished with lateral movement/strikes… but that’s why he stays just outside the effective range of lateral strikes. It’s simple… but it works.
This was Seans Masterclass. The way he took everything AWAY from Izzy. His leg kick, his jab, Izzy had nothing to even get into the fight, because Sean took all his weapons away.
He became world champion, so he's doing something right! Although there's always room for improvement! I'm pretty excited to see him agaisnt Paulo Costa!
I Would have appreciated a more in depth breakdown i know izzy your friend but your knowledge of the game is fun to watch. You casually breaking down professionally fighters styles and fights. Good on ya
And he's raising his legs because his boxing is so much better, he can out box Izzy on one leg. Strickland defends his head mostly and closes the distance to minimise the damage from body kicks which require space. A smart fighter like Pereira and Driucus will use body shots to create openings to Stricklands head as Strickland has to eventually address the body damage.
6:30 you are forgetting sean has the hand down like that so he can lift the shoulder and roll that right hand shot so he can counter right straight... if you are gonna do a biased breakdown its not gonna end well also izzy touches dogs
The cope from dj is hilarious. If it was so easy for izzy to knock him out why didn't he do it with a whole 25 minutes? Weak breakdown bro this was mostly you pointing out what izzy should have done to win

Sean i think is unique. He has trained a unique muscle memory when it comes to defending strikes. I feel its on the level of how domink cruz would move. Something he is both the best at and alone at.
13:40 Inches become a yard, a yard becomes... a foot?!?! LOL Good breakdown once again. I think Strickland zoned in on Izzy's rhythm after the 1st round. You can see him blocking as Izzy is starting his combos.
@@benhallo1553 Long-ish guard with pressure, poking, prodding and teeps. Just keep bopping jabs and 1-1s or 1-2s as they come up. @@AkilesVaestha i think he means more of the style of salvador sanchez... Which in heinsight hes correct, if sean adapted more mobility he'd be 10x better than he already is
@@antlmaooI don’t think he would I think that would leave him more open and it wouldn’t fit in well with his style especially his defensive style a little more slips would help but no ducking or weaving punches and especially no squaring up in that close distance to his opponents
@@AkilesVaestha I know he’s a walking 2x4 lol
That first example Sean probably would have tried to shoulder roll with it
Dj is wrong when Sean's left hand goes down his shoulder rolls towards his chin protecting from the right hand
Strickland Grappling it's very good too even if he doesn't Show a Complete fighter he's a Animal his Boxing are the best of UFC the way he make Adesanya Fall is Badass.
For anyone who want honest breakdown of Sean Strickland instead of this video where DJ makes it all about gynobender watch Stephen Thompson's breakdown. He has tried to make it with perfection.
I thought Strickland edged out ddp
Same
he probably could have won if he actually tried to go for a finish instead of jabbing
Something i think is crazy about sean against izzy is he is checking EVERY KICKS , and we know how izzy is good on that.
Strickland put his manhood to the test, guy ran the whole night.
Wow! Amazing breakdown
It didn't burn your eyes watching Izzy fight. His performance stank like fresh cut onions and that's where the burning sensation came from.
nah not a gopro bcs if you're doing anything with too much contact it can hurt pretty bad
better off using something like that tiny insta 360 cam
Can't wait for the Paulo Costa one unless he pulls out
The Izzy glazing in this video is insane
He shit on Izzy the whole time lol
someone didn’t watch at all
@@vidguru0062bro every two seconds he talking ab how much he loves Izzy fym

@@millenpotter576stop gassing it, they’re friends. god forbid he say some things to support his friend lmao
Izzy did not let his hands go in this one. For being a counter puncher he barely countered Sean. Honestly Sean’s jab might be one of the best in the ufc. It’s good because he stays defensive and does damage without overexposing himself.
I've been waiting for a breakdown video
the leg kicks being checked made the difference, Costa ate all Izzy's kicks
NO MAN THAT BEATS OFF TO CARTOONS WILL EVER BEAT ME!
Love Sean and I think he can get it done but costa is a tough style matchup for him. Should be interesting
Dude i'm greatfull to be able to watch your videos every evening/night !!
Here comes the pop on your UA-cam content keep it up
Dude just tell us how good izzy tastes..
I think a missed aspect of Sean’s game is that he rarely puts himself in a position to take a clean counter-strike.
Even when he commits to a strike… he usually angles his body/head in a way that would make any counter attack get checked or a glancing blow at best.
(Even when DJ is pointing out open counter strikes… Sean’s head is leaning away from Izzy’s fist.)
Aside from the Pereira hook… I can’t think of any clean shots that landed on Sean in recent memory.
If he sees a counter or a blitz coming he hops out of range like a rabbit, defends and resets.
Going forward with technique and no fear is a dangerous man.
I Would have appreciated a more in depth breakdown i know izzy your friend but your knowledge of the game is fun to watch. You casually breaking down professionally fighters styles and fights. Good on ya
Sean’s always slowly taking them inches
The difference between Strickland and Adesanya is blatantly clear.. and so simple. Fight IQ
Izzy has the capability to fight.
Sean KNOWS HOW to fight.
Imagine not understanding that the title is a hypothetical question. Tho i wouldnt expect Sean fans to understand what that means
Mike go watch your anime dog porn, you and your butt buddy izzy love that stuff like it’s meth
6:30 you are forgetting sean has the hand down like that so he can lift the shoulder and roll that right hand shot so he can counter right straight... if you are gonna do a biased breakdown its not gonna end well
also izzy touches dogs
Love the vids bro!!
The cope from dj is hilarious. If it was so easy for izzy to knock him out why didn't he do it with a whole 25 minutes? Weak breakdown bro this was mostly you pointing out what izzy should have done to win
rewatch the fight. Jack shit happened after round 1.
Im a caz MMA fan. new but love and mighty knowledge.. experience and you are ONE of them' (as we say now, its next level. You have to get tge proper pod.... thank you
I think mightys still getting over this one. "That was another right hand," as if it was so easy izzy, just couldn't do it. Let's not forget that izzy had a full camp, and sean didn't. But i like mighty a lot more than i thought i would. I like his videos
the void is a meme and reality at the same time; it's a meme cause it's funny and dj keeps saying it, but at the same it's a very real thing
Best intro edit ever
Sean’s wink at the end of the 1st is hilarious
Everytime you say look izzy could have caught him right here with a right. Sean could also crack izzy with a right izzys hands were down as well.
With all due respect you can break down the could have would have should have in any fight for any fighter including yourself
Sean is a horror movie villain who just walks you down
Sean i think is unique.
Passive aggressive fighting at its best.
Passive aggressively eating dirt three times in two years
@@6tiple6ix6afiahuh
This is one of my favorite fights ever!
I adopted Sean's approach over the course of the last few months in training. Gamechanger. The people I spar with get so frustrated.
What would you define as Sean’s style? What do you do specifically?
@@benhallo1553 Long-ish guard with pressure, poking, prodding and teeps. Just keep bopping jabs and 1-1s or 1-2s as they come up. One thing that irritates the hell out of me is Sean's refusal to go for uppercuts. He's in the perfect spot to throw them every time he get someone to shell up against the fence and could send their jaw to the ceiling but no, he just hammers through with hooks and straights.
THE VOID!!!
Realest comment here
Wonderboy: Sean isn't biting on any feints and it is messing Izzy up
MM: Sean is biting on everything, he's just too far away
I would love to see these legends do a breakdown together
This is the greatest MMA UA-cam channel on the platform. I remember when MMA UA-cam was at its infancy when the MMA UA-camrs at the time made predictions based on “momentum”. It’s crazy to see how far we’ve and now we get to have coach level MMA breakdowns that makes consuming the sport even better because we actually get to understand the intricacies of what’s happening in the cage. You’re like the modern Kakashi. Legendary ninja and now teaching everyone else the ways of the ninja.
If mighty opens his own dojo. His students will have a goated coach.
always so much bias for the black dudes 😂
Watching this on my break
Watching this on the clock hahhahah
Costa is gonna be swinging for the fences as he usually does. Should be an exciting fight. That being said i hope Sean gets the W.
i think that seans style of pawing at everything makes a lot of guys second guess themselves on when to throw a bomb that would connect. cause he stays at the edge of the void being primarily a boxer. issy could win this fight on leg kick alone if hes willing to play that game too.
Strickland checked literally every leg kick
@@benhallo1553 if one guy is at the edge, throwing leg kicks and the other guy is attempting to check the whole fight I promise the guy trying to check is losing on the scorecards.
He doesn't want to cover all the rounds because he doesn't want his boyfriend to get pickad apart, and give an actual breakdown. Lets stop when it gets admittedly uncomfortable for you.. just admit izzy got fucked up.
Strickland was doing the man dance them legs and hands were all over the place playing with Izzy it’s crazy
