Erick Nicksick is a genius. I am convinced that this man caught on every little bit of success any other opponent had against Izzy and formulated a perfect game plan accordingly. The only 'weakness' that wasn't exploited was wrestling (remember that Izzy has top takedown defense): -Rob had more success in the rematch with boxing, and sticking to the jab, but his striking defense was lacking and allowed Izzy to edge the fight. He ended up following Izzy and not cutting the cage. -Romero tried to ignore Izzy's movement and feints, to stop him from setting up and confuse him, and he saved his shots for power strikes. Granted it was boring asf, it did dismantle Izzy's game a bit. -Kelvin forced Izzy to fight in the pocket and pressured him backwards, but he ate too many shots in return (crazy chin tho wtf). -In their first UFC fight, Alex controlled the distance better than Israel did and his mental warfare games seemed like they did bother Izzy. -Jan countered the counter. He was almost overreacting to feints to draw out Izzy's offense. Beautiful leg kick checks as well, and wrestling later in the fight. Take everything that worked in every one of those fights except for wrestling, and you can see it applied by Strickland in their fight. Absolutely insane. Props to Sean and Xtreme Couture!
Don't forget the most important fight. Marvin Vettori vs izzy 2 fight to me was ironically the most important fight they took inspiration from. Look at that fight and you will see vettori only had success when izzy was against the cage trying to lure him in. Im sure coach Nicsick looked at that and said "what if we just keep him at our most advantages spot the whole fight?'. The difference is that Marvin didnt have the kick defence to actually make the rounds go his way. The fact that someone as mediocre as vettori had such success against izzy showed to me he is beatable with that game plan when someone like sean who is actually quite talented, does it.

That's actually an interesting question. Sean was a very good wrestler once until he got in that motorcycle accident a few years ago that completely tore up his knee. That's why he doesn't wrestle anymore. So he has good technique but the bigger question might be if the knee would hold up in that scenario.
Strickland himself called it.. he's one of the best strikes in the game, and definitely one of the best defenders.. but not getting the praise for it from others because it's not pretty or orthodox. I think he fights incredibly technically in his own way, and is incredibly skilled. Give him his dues, to completely dismantle a confident Izzy (after a perfect camp / no injuries etc) is a serious achievement.
His instincts are so finely tuned that he really does see everything. He said during the Alex fight that he was seeing everything. But that stiff jab to the body Alex was giving Sean actually hurt a lot because Alex hits like a truck so when Alex made that slight level change he thought it was going to be something even harder to the body.

Man imma be real I never really followed Ajlo, but every vid he puts out is nothing but class. Huge respect, hope he gets his title back
It wasn’t just the jab in the cross. It was that amazing defense that won that fight.
Yeah... It makes the other guy heart sink like in a dream when you throw the kitchen sink and it lands like on a pillow lol
Is this a new blueprint for Chito to beat O'malley? The most defensive bantamweight being more defensive!
Rip to that one guy who bet 220,000 on izzy 😭
LMAOOOOOOOOO 💀💀
He gets what he deserves. For that one 😂😂
Solid analysis. I learned here
I love this breakdown. You break it down so beautifully. I cannot wait to get that rematch or fight for the title again. One of your biggest fans! I want to try that bottle too :)
I didn’t realize I liked you until I saw you just sit and talk about fighting. Great stuff 👏
It was just a simple sparring session for strickland.
Great video, subscribed!
Great post.
Love the logical breakdown Champ
Under rated analyst 💯
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🥊 cant wait for you to get it back Aljo
Yeah definitely a combo of insane pressure, great vision, fast eyes & reaction time & great defense. He put it together beautifully. Sean is marketable. He's just a wild man. Think about him going to Sydney where it should've been Izzy support only (yes he's NZ, i know) but Australia loved Sean. He's a breath of fresh air & I urge u to watch nelk podcast with him. Was the most down to earth Sean so far. Refreshing. Hope u find your path Aljo that works for u whether its 135, 145 or whatever. Best wishes
Izzy literally verbalized “I’m good” to the ref while Sean was punching him
I do have to say, very good insight about the option of a stoppage from aljo!
When we gonna see you on the desk champ? Great voice, great breakdown.
I’m happy for this Sean not so much for the others
This fight was so crazy 😂😂 Strickland really Mayweathered Izzy 🤣🤣🤣
Henry humping the air 😂
Sean o malley 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maybe the Funkmaster has to learn that philly shell to beat Sean lol. Can’t wait to see you back champ!
You re a legend aljo
In the rematch with Omalley, Aljo about to come out in a Philly Shell and start throwing 1s and 1,2s straight down the pipe like DeSean Mayweather.
Great video
Aljo you're phenomenal
2023 ...
Year of the Seans !!!
🤯🤯🤯😱😱😱🤷
Wow I didn't even know you had a mma channel! Your one of the best to ever do it bro! I'm a big fan from the UK and fellow jamaican! Had to subscribe! Izzy took too long to adapt if u ask me he was trying to faint and bait Strickland in all night and Sean never went for it! Just stayed disciplined focused and Sharpe with Steady pressure . Izzy noticed the faints were not working so he tried to play possum and cover up against the cage and Sean knew what he was doing and unlike peirera, he didn't rush in . Izzy should have increased the work rate and output throwing calf kicks and thigh kicks to present different threats to open up the head shots! Shame! Congrats to Strickland
Aljo finally learning how to make quality content
Sterling always a class act! Great analysis.
