I did this hike in 2012 when I was 62 years old. Your video is a fun recap! Sadly, my partner, a dear Peruvian friend, passed in 2018. I thought of her watching this. I consider this trek to have changed my life- for the better ❤
I remember doing that in 2001. Our guide vanished after his first day, so we found our porters again everyday, but walked it alone!! I spend my 20th birthday at Machu Picchu : )
So many amazing things to see in this world for those willing to explore them - while you do most of your exploration in the mountains, I leave Denver to explore what lies below the ocean's surface - thanks for sharing this and all of your wonderful adventures & good to see you back on 31 in the mornings 😊
Yours is the best video of the Machu Picchu hike that I’ve seen. My wife and I did the Tour de Mont Blanc hike last year, and this is next on the bucket list.
You're going to love it! I used a 24L (any bigger and you have to check it at Machu Picchu) and found it worked great. I'll be doing a packing video but our guide gave us a list and I followed it pretty much exactly. Here's the pack I used: www.fjallraven.com/us/en-us/bags-gear/backpacks-bags/laptop-bags/high-coast-foldsack-24 Have so much fun!
Thank you! I went with Alpaca Expeditions (linked above) and would highly recommend - they were very responsive, the food was incredible and we felt safe the whole time
Thank you for your great video. Do you use headlamp every day ? How big portable charger (power bank) do you bring for this 4D3N ? Since there is no place to plug in while trekking and I need charge for phone, Garmin watch and headlamp everyday. I will do it in two weeks.
Yes, used a headlamp but only at night from tent to tent or bathroom, never had to charge. We brought a couple of smaller charging units between two of us (I don’t remember the size) and I kept my phone on airplane mode.
We were with guides the whole time on the Inca Trail and several of us had cameras, but none of us had major camera gear. I only really brought out my nice camera on the trail for a few pics, otherwise I kept it in the hotel room when we explored the cities. In general, I did feel safe the whole trip.
We brought portable chargers and I kept my phone on airplane mode the entire time. My camera I was very conservative with when I'd turn it on - it barely made it but it did!
I hear the indigenous people are struggling...why not put to use those agricultural structures to provide themselves with sustenance...just a random thought I wanted to share 😊

Great video. I did this exact trip back in September of this year (minus Huayna Picchu). I think I even had the same guides!
So COOL!! I've always wanted to go there! Great video!
Thank you! And definitely add it to your list - truly a bucket list experience!

Amazing, can't wait to be there... 5 months to go! :)
Great! I wish to visit it (MachuPicchu) this year, at October! ❤❤

This means a lot, thank you! Tour du Mont Blanc looks amazing - it's definitely on my bucket list.
@@approachableoutdoors8147 we used UTracks. They put together a really good hike. At the end, we were ready to go back and do it again.
Great video you have inspired me to go here

It really was amazing! We had a group from all over the world

Great video, thank you very much for sharing! At what time of the year did you go?
I was there in early October!
Great video Kylie, can you confirm the tour operator you booked with and how much would you recommend?
Thank you! I went with Alpaca Expeditions (linked above) and would highly recommend - they were very responsive, the food was incredible and we felt safe the whole time

The "porters" are called chasquis in Peru.
Is Peru safe overall to be travelling with camera gear?

What time of year did you go? We're thinking of doing this in December, but concerned about the rainy season.
We went early October which was the beginning of rainy season - it definitely does impact the views on the hike if it's raining
Have you ever thought about hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains?
@@kevinhaney9256 I would love to! It looks amazing
Is a trail running shoes enough for this trek? or do we really need hiking boots
I would definitely recommend hiking boots, it gets a little rainy and is pretty rocky.
What time is year did you go? I'm going in the last week of August and concerned about cold weather
Early October! And while it did get chilly at night we never felt too cold - I bet August will be great!
Wow you're amazing sister God bless you and bless your family ameen ❤
How do you charge your camera / phone while trekking?
We brought portable chargers and I kept my phone on airplane mode the entire time. My camera I was very conservative with when I'd turn it on - it barely made it but it did!
What month did you go?
Early Oct!
Thank You Sweethart Kylie Bearse''Smile>DDK''
I really wanted to see the trail, but got to see you instead. Sad 😢
Going in 2025. Thanks for sharing.
Can i still do it at 26miles in 4 days at 51 years old?? I hate physical conditioning..good on you ….x
