Because of what I’ve learned from Dr. Pitre’s books, it occurred to me that when Mary presents Jesus in the Temple, it’s the first time the ark of the covenant has been back in the temple in nearly 600 years since the Babylonians sacked Jerusalem. Only this time, it’s a new ark and a new covenant.
Thanks for that revelation!
God really likes to take his sweet a$$ time😂
WOW!
@@cuauhtemocmorisco3493 yeah, sure looks like it. But remember, HE is outside of time.
None of you know who God is, you all worship a false messiah as a god. Not God
I learn a lot here more power Dr. Brant Pitre
Amen! Love this!
Simeon saw in this Child the Servant Isaiah spoke about, the Messiah who is the Servant King! But he also saw the Passion in advance (Isaiah 53) and inspired by the Spirit, even predicted how Mary will be deeply affected by the mission of her Son who will be the sign of contradiction.
Also, Jesus followed the Law He Himself wrote so did His family in Nazareth!
I appreciate the Joyful Mysteries all the more. Kudos Dr. Pitre! May God bless you!
Pitre is a gift, and his books are phenomenal. I will say, though, that I see some confirmation bias in his point about priests being firstborn sons. Because some of them might be from smaller families, have a lot of sisters, etc. If you're in any room of men and ask them to raise their hand if they're firstborn sons, the majority will raise their hand regardless of vocation.
This and the circumcision is good for refuting Protestant error when they say a child must wait until he's old enough to make his own decision ..Did Mary and Joseph ask Jesus would he like to decide if he wanted circumcision? No They took authority over him as do Catholics in the same tradition..
Great observation. Had never thought of that - you don’t wait until you’re a grown-up to receive the sign of the covenant.
Congratulations we have a beautiful everylasting life. amen
Amen🙏I’ve gained in knowledge of this ritual rite.
Great work Dr. Pitre as always...God Bless
What a striking detail. Calling back to Lev 12 that their offering of the two turtle doves tells the reader that they were not well off. Whats even more striking is that the two turtle doves is offered because they could afford a lamb, but there they are presenting THE Lamb!
amen
What did the Holy Family do the the gold, frankincense and myrrh- which would have been worth a lot?
Probably gave it away to the poor since jesus didn't even have a home when he began preaching
Joseph used it for his traval purposes and making a shelter in Egypt....
Nobody knows. It isn't in the texts.
What should they have done with it in your estimation?!
You surmise that the Magi had already come. However, that might have happened much later than 30 days. A hint that this might be true is that Herod ordered the killing of every baby up to two years.
@@cuauhtemocmorisco3493 One would assume these were used to pay for the rapid travel to Egypt and set up there to live
I wish you could talk on the Catholic translation of Luke 2:35..its relation to the Catholic translation of Genesis 3:15..please🙏🙏🙏
This is also the first time Jesus sheds His Blood while on Earth (circumcision). The next is during His Passion starting with the Agony in the Garden, the Purging, and then the Cross.
This is the presentation, not the circumcision.
(The circumcision would have been done 8 days after birth. It is no longer celebrated in the current Latin right [replaced by celebrating Mary Mother of God January 1] but is still celebrated in the eastern right churches on the 8th day of Christmas)
@@roryclarkrorykiernanp.clar9065 So right; my mistake. I knew circumcision was the 8th day. The purification and presentation 40 days later. Thanks for pointing that out. Learned something new today; it's a good day.
i immediately thought despite not being able to afford a lamb for sacrifice when Jesus was an infant.. the Holy family did ultimately provide a lamb for sacrifice, that being the Lord himself.
There are only 2 choices so 50 50. So half being first born and the other not is expected not surprising.
I think what is overlooked is that XC a perfect pure man is destined to be killed because he is good and only G-d is good ....the world could not contain Him. This recognition that we All ,all are sinners frees us redeems us humbly before G-d. Redemption has already happens with the Incarnation. His death hasn’t redeemed us his Life has.
I like Luke do not believe in vicarious atonement . He has made us free men .

Vicarious atonement is the basis of Christianity. If you miss that you miss everything.

I thought Jesus had older brothers… 🤨
Special pleading, no OT prophecies that Jesus is the atonement for sin 😮😮😮😮
Genesis 22:12; Exodus 12: 3-13
Isaiah 53 if you wanna debate about that you gonna get schooled
@@Alvarezsnwl 😂 Isaiah 53 is a past tense narrative, suffering servant/offspring of Abraham is House of Israel personified due to Zechariah’s rebellion 😮😮😮😮😮
@@chosenskeptic5319 you really wanna get schooled now and to prove you that its about the messiah whos God comes in flesh?
@@Alvarezsnwl you can’t historically prove a theological conclusion 😮😮😮😮
