In 1 Corinthians, Paul tells us that the body is made for the Lord. What does this mean? And how does this affect what we should do with our bodies?
Check out this video with Dr. Brant Pitre to learn more about this topic from St. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians.

Great lecture Dr Pitre. Amazing that this aspect of St Paul's teaching still needs to be highlighted in the 21st century. What would St Paul think?

Aldous Huxley's book, "Brave New World" reminds me of this. Orwell talked about a dystopian society with Overlords but Huxley talks about how we will surrender due to our numbing through hedonistic desires and consumption. I need to re-read it but it all boils down to morality. Huxley was an agnostic but so many of these intellectual writers and philosophers co-opt Christianity but refuse to acknowledge so.

These writers may not realize that they are using Christian elements in their writings and hence why they don’t acknowledge them. Kinda like how many agnostic and atheists agree with “love your neighbor as you love yourself” but don’t recognize that this is teaching came from Christianity.

They should read the full text at this time there’s so much confusion and your discussions are very enlightening I think omitting important pieces town now the church is divided and they’re also divided politically there are many bishops that are OK with not talking about the evils of abortion. Or with the media being divided And not talking about sexual sin which is a distraction to our nations I’m from Godzilla and as far as the divisions in the church and in the media and social media please research Maximilian Colby

The Holy Spirit (God) dwelling in each one of us that have been baptized and confirmed, must be the reason when Jesus said to love one another, forgiving those who trespass against us. Because when we do wrong to others or don't take care of others, we do it to God.

This means we should detach in the tradition of the ancient Catholic mystics, seek His Face. Once we are able to see it, you will know it. Then we should preach the Truth and Our Lord will perform His miracles as He sees fit.

That is the question: to engage in PORNEIA or to shun from it? In The Teleology of the BODY lies the answer: "Your body (The body of the believer who was baptized) was made for the Lord, because the Lord is for (paid a ransom for you with His body) you living in the body." - goes Paul. I'm thinking of the hormonal attractions of bodies - well, according to Paul's gospel, the cause of the life of the christian believer should be the kingdom of God, in communion with Christ. And that means the overcoming of the instant, of the hormonal attraction in porneia, and the nurturing of a deeper love or feeling which drives me to see God's image in the beauty of the body I'm attracted for. It all sounds like a "platonic" attitude to the body - or, at least getting very near to that, except for the fact that the christian faithful acknowledges the reality and solidity of the body, of passions, of feelings and wants to raise them to another level, more real, not more ethereal. Hard for all to realize, but feasible.

I never heard this taught in the pulpit, nor by any bishop of the Catholic Church (unless I missed something)! I see this omission of certain words in the Lectionary a common place especially on certain teachings of the Church that are very important! Who decided to remove them? Who is in charge of the publication of these texts? Are these the wolves in charge and nobody is raising the red flag????

Anothet lost catholic with no clue of The Word of God, because catholics are absent the Holy Spirit. There is no way to glorify God with your body. The body is flesh. No flesh can glorify God. Pitre has no spiritual understanding. God is Spirit His bride must be filled with the Holy Spirit. The catholic church does not fulfill the requirement for they are not baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and therefore, as both Paul and Peter taught, you must be born again of The Spirit. Paul never said one word about the catholic " trinity ."

You should make a video about how many catholics are idolators, I mean they worship idols like saints. I am also catholic and I'm sad that many catholics praise and pray to saints like they should be doing only to the one and only God

    • @paulmiller3469

Are you really Catholic? One reason I ask is that if you equate all prayer to worship, well, I would guess you may not have paid very close attention when preparing for confirmation.
What do you do at Mass when the priest asks for the intercession of saints?

@@paulmiller3469 When I'm talking about Catholic things it's a denomination 'cause it differs from protestantism and other denominations. In the book of Revelations it speaks of the Church Thyatira. It was one of the Churches who were sent letters. That is the Catholic church and it says that it deals with idolatry. John Kostik in his video Revelation 2 & 3 explains it really good. Timestamp 57:00 - here he talks about Thyatira. It's all from the Bible.
