Every time we fly, we spend at least a few hours in the airport, so it’s always a pleasant surprise when the airport is comfortable and it’s an added bonus if it is architecturally interesting and beautiful as well.
Here are 10 of the most beautiful airports in the world…both functional and complex works of art and architecture, just looking at them can relieve all the stress of travelers passing through their doors.

Good to see that Singapore's Changi Airport is actually on the list on the #5 spot, but IMO it should have been ranked higher. I may be a Singaporean, but everytime I go to this Changi Airport, the infrastructure and the interior never fails to awe me, especially the newly built Terminal 4 with its stunningly modernized and bright interior while managing to bring nature into this urbanized terminal. However, with the 2 upcoming huge projects, the JEWEL and Terminal 5, which area will be larger than all four current terminals combined, I can sense that this beautiful airport in the little red dot shall be placed higher on the spot. Sneak peek: JEWEL features the world's biggest indoor waterfall, so do check it out when it is due to open in about 1-2 years time!
I could live forever at Changi-Singapore Airport! Very lovely airport complete with a Butterfly Garden. Who can beat that?

How can an airport be in the Top 10 most beautiful based solely on ONE terminal at that airport? Heathrow for example might have the magnificent Terminal 5 but the rest of the airport is pure crappiness of the highest order
As a frequent long haul flyer I've travelled through at least 5-6 of these airports and ALL airports are a travellers nightmare because of the sheer size of them, lack of information especially when on connecting flights. How anyone can find London Heathrow beautiful is beyond me! for people in the UK it's the most hated airport ever, whether it's trying to reenter the country through immigration - even if your a UK citizen there doesn't appear to be a desk available to only UK passport holders, this is the norm for other countries. The lack of appropriate sign posts between terminals is a nightmare. Another airport that wasn't on this list is Dubai international it's between two separate buildings A & B, depending where your travelling you sometimes have to take a train between the two to get to your gate, as for trying to find which Emirates Business lounge in either building forget it there seems to be two lounges in each building and trying to find the one nearest your gat is a nightmare and once in trying to find a toilet is near impossible, you get the feeling it's not encouraged and would you please wait until you've left our country? The best airport I've ever been through is Schiphol Amsterdam.

Though I am an Indian I don't think mumbai airport deserves the second place. Instead Changi should have been either in 1st or in the second place. I had recently visited Singapore. I think Changi is not only an airport, it's something more than an airport to me like a shopping mall and a five star hotel. It is really a fantastic airport and one of the busiest airport. It was such a wonderful experience I can't explain with words. Even the transit passengers can spend more than a day without any difficulty.

Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for me the best , I 've been in Dubai , qatar , paris , Geneva , Auckland New Zealand, london ,Barcelona , but kuala Lumpur Airoport is realy special & the staf very friendly during the transit.

Mumbai is very good, but it is so hard to pass through. I was heading from Chennai- Newark, and had to pass through there, when we landed it took a long time to get to the terminal, then we had to do another security check for some reason, I barely made it to my flight to Newark.
I,live in The City of Indianapolis, Indiana USA ! We,have a new Mid-Field Terminal ! That,is just really "Beautiful ",with everything anyone,could want ,when departing,and or changing Planes ! Love,to visit there!!

T2 at Mumbai is, perhaps, the most beautiful terminal I've seen. Singapore is always fantastic. Abu Dhabi right now is rubbish.
Fully agree. I fly a lot and was utterly taken by surprise on how much I loved Mumbai T2 airport. Airy, check in area flooded by golden afternoon sun, great food, loved the shops, particularly the one with tribal art, beautiful sitting/eating area with fantastic view. Unfortunately, I used a lounge in the basement, which was dreary. Should have stayed upstairs and paid for my food. But I will return!
