  • In this video I will review these popular Global Arts pencil cases.
    These cases come in canvas and leather and are well made with the caveat that the loops don't always hold as many pencils as intended. They come in cases that hold 24 to 120 pencils and a variety of pencil case colors in canvas or leather.
    I purchased this on Amazon for about $15 but prices range from $12 for the canvas pencil case that holds 24 colored pencils to $40+ to the leather pencil case that holds 120 colored pencils.
    Product Category:

    Pencil cases for canvas come in cases for 24, 48, and 120 and a variety of colors.
    Leather pencil cases come in 24, 48, 72, 96, 120 in black or saddle brown.

    I just got one of these. You are right, only 3 pencils per loop quite easily with no stretching. Very nice neat little case though, I was surprised how small it was and seems well made too. Great for me as I just want graphite and charcoal pencils. Got everything in I needed to. Put in Derwent retractable pen style eraser. Takes up less room than a roll-up.

    The cases I purchased on Amazon all have individual slots for each pencil. For me that makes it easier to keep track of the pencils. They even have one that will hold all 150 of the prismacolor pencils for those who purchased those. The one I have for Derwent pencils has room for a sharpener and blender pencil as well as a pocket that holds color charts. Another great review Karia.

      +Janet O'Dell wow. I don't think I have seen one that fits 150 do you mind sharing? I did see the a few Derwent ones that I want to check out.

    Hi, I purchased this product, I can easily fit 4 faber Castell Polychromos per loop

  • @terilew1

    I have two of those cases, one holds 120 pencils at 3 in a slot and the other holds 24 with 4 in each slot, just like the one you were showing. I have prismacolor pencils and I do have 4 in each slot with no trouble. I don't have any problems with fitting in the pencils, it's not too tight at all.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria  7 років тому

      +terilew1 yeah the prismacolor are considerable thinner than polychromos who are thinner than the Luminance. I think for those thicker pencils these are definitely a risk but it is much easier for thinner pencils like the prismacolor.

    • @terilew1
      @terilew1 7 років тому

      yeah, I think the Prismacolors are 7mm and Derwent and some others may be around 8mm. I'm gonna test that case out with some other pencils I have that are larger to see how many it will hold.

      terilew1 my Polychromos fit just fine in the 120, too. I've also got about 80 Prismas in the 48 case. I guess I just like to jam them in. I've also thought about snipping the stitches on the elastic.

      @mrsearlgrey 7 років тому +1

      You can get 3 polys in those slots for the 120 cases but they were so tight that it wasn't worth it to me. I do have hand problems. Some of the Chinese cases have fairly loose elastic (a bit looser than I like).

      I have 72 Derwent Coloursoft. witch case do I have? I thought the 72 case, but after this video I would be to small? could you help me?

    Bella is really pretty. I think she wanted attentions. I buy my cases at Amazon and the BKSTY. These are okay cases. Yes, they are extremely tight. Great review.

      +Grace Fonseca thank you! Yes it's true. But let me know if you would like for me to review another case!

    I've had a basic rollup style pencil wraps with the rope like tie for over a year. I just thought that would be fine until I could afford to invest in one of these fancier book-style pencil cases. But after watching some videos about these, I'm starting to think my pencil wrap case is better than anything else out there. At least, it does what it said it would do. It holds 150 color pencils like it said it would do, and has a little extra zipper pouch to put a few small items. It is really long, but it's got a separating zipper in the middle of it.

      +Dee Dee oh yeah I could totally do that. I'll add that to the list. Might have to wait till the summer cause that way I can do field pieces with me actually being out and about with them :) that's a great idea.

    I actually thought that was a 36 pencil case but I guess you are right. You can get 4 more normal or smaller pencils in a slot. I just did it. I got bit by Global when I bought a leather "120" one for my set of Polychromos and then had to buy another one. Oh, you can jam them in there, but it's not worth it. On the plus side, they are are well-made case and Blick often has the canvas ones at a good price.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria  7 років тому

      +mrsearlgrey yeah I did too but I went to the website and they don't make a 36 slot one. :( but I getting these to store extra pencils so it's not a deal breaker but annoying.
      I was thinking about getting it for my polychromos but if they don't hold all 120 in one thing I would rather just have them in the tin they came in.

    • @mrsearlgrey
      @mrsearlgrey 7 років тому +1

      I can't work out of the tins. Anything that holds 120 pencils is kind of an awkward size and heavy but then I have hand problems. If you are already ordering from Blick and getting a discount, they usually give the discount on the canvas ones (but you still need two of the things, imo). There are a couple brands that hold 120 - I have a black Soucolor which is the size of a big book. There are a lot of other ones that look a lot alike but do look at the pictures because some are a little different. I had a 150 one that was too big for my shelf.

    Nice review Karia. I bought the 120 case, as I planned to put my 120 fb polychromos in there. Anyway it was so tight it would have been impractical, it was just too hard getting them in and out. I ended up using it for a set of 72 Derwent Coloursoft pencils. The cases are very good quality and well made though.

      +dragonborn dawn I'm glad you were able to make it work. That's likely what I'll do get more but use them for smaller sets.

    I have the exact one in your video. It will actually hold 4 per slot you just have to insert them and let them loosen up.

    The barrels have to be pretty thin to hold the advertised amount. 48 prismacolors fit but there is no space at all between the pencils.

  • @EveBolt
    @EveBolt 7 років тому +1

    I considered buying one of these on and off again (didn't do it because of the price) but after watching your review, I'm glad I didn't! I'd have bought it for the number they say it can hold, so I'd have been so disappointed XD

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria  7 років тому

      +Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault basically. Some people say that if you squeeze the pencils in you can fit 4 polychromos. In each loop. But I don't want to damage my pencils trying to squeeze them into loops.
      Now if you have like Crayola which aren't expensive at all and very thin so they likely would fit just fine or only a little squeezed. But the pencils I use are expensive and thicker so it's less good.

    • @sugarcandy243
      @sugarcandy243 7 років тому +2

      Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault I got the Derwent carry all bag instead of the global art case. Just watch the price on Amazon, it falls to about $15-$18 quite often. It can easily fit 132 pencils with the included leaves plus you can buy more leaves to add to the bag. So I have 1 bag for my Polychromos, 1 for my Prismacolor and 1 bag with extra leaves for my Albrecht Durer and Inktense. it's very convenient and much cheaper than the global art case.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria  7 років тому

      +Shilpa J that's a great idea. I will have to buy one for review.

    • @sugarcandy243

      ColoringKaria That's a really nice bag, hope you like it. Like I said above, just watch the price for a couple of weeks. I bought my bags at around $20 and the extra leaves for about $15. 3 bags plus 2 leaves hold all my 444 pencils and I still have room for about 50 more! And it cost me just $75. That's a good deal. Luckily my Derwent artist pencils came in a wood case which is really high quality, so I don't need a new case for those.

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt 7 років тому +1

      @Shilpa J Good to hear! I was considering getting that bag too, it's nice to have a first-hand account! I love how it could fit my whole box of Prismacolor :) Thank you!

  • @DD-d6d3
    @DD-d6d3 7 років тому +2

    I checked out the 120 at Blick and it only held 60 Polychromos. 2 per slot was all I could manage.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria  7 років тому

      +Dee Dee that's what I use so that's what I mainly tested. I was able to get 3 in each slot but it was TIGHT I actually felt like doing so would be a danger to the pencils. Maybe I would feel ok doing 3 - 2 - 3 - 2 repeat till it's filled. But that's the most.

    • @mrsearlgrey
      @mrsearlgrey 7 років тому +1

      The 120 case holds 80 Polychromos comfortably 2/slot. There are 40 elastic slots in a case and you could squeeze 3 in there. I have two of the books with Polys in front of me right now.
