Hey guys what's up? I'm Matt, and in this video we're gonna make your website completely cookie compliant so you never have to worry about that again. Very useful and we're starting with a free plan, so let's dive in right now.
If you want to help me out I'll be you forever grateful. Go to wpressdoctor.com/cookie/ and press enter. Now here we are at the CookieYes plugin page. And they also have a completely free plan, for blogs and personal websites. Why I advise you to use CookieYes? Its because they rescan your website once in a while to make sure it's compliant with all the registrations and laws in different kind of countries all around the world. So it's really important that we have such a system in place. Because a lot of these laws every time changes. If you're just starting out with your website or your blog we can go with the free version. It will scan 100 pages per scan and it's up to 25 000 page views each single month. If you have a bigger website and you have more pages than 100, and you have definitely more page views, you should go with a basic plan, a pro plan or ultimate plan. In this tutorial we will be installing the free version but if you need another tier, it's exactly the same process so I'm gonna guide you through it right now. The first thing we're going to do is we're gonna press 'Get started' over here. Then we need to create a free account, so fill in our email address. Then you need to fill in your exact domain name without and without www. If you have more websites, no problem you can later fill them all in over there. Then we're going to use a really strong password, accept the terms and conditions and we're gonna press on 'Get started'. Here we can customize our layout for the banner. You want the white background, the black background, or the auto generated template which is by default the white template. We're going to use this one here you can even customize or reject all cookies or accept all cookies - which is by a law very important. Then you can also go with a banner like this, or you can go with a box. They are compliant with the local laws, so you can choose whatever you want. In our case we're going to use a classic banner over there, with the white background. If your visitors are from another country and they speak another language, just change over here your default language, and we press 'Next step'. Now we need to install the banner to our WordPress website. Log into your WordPress website. If you're still logging in using /wp-admin/... that's not a very safe way so please watch my security tutorials, as you do not want to get hacked. On your dashboard we go to 'Plugins' and press 'Add new'. Then type in over here CookieYes and press enter. And we're gonna press 'Install now'. On a GDPR Cookie Consent from CookieYes with 1 million active installs. That's a lot. And then we press 'Activate'. Then from here we go to 'Settings' over there. From here we're gonna click on this banner; 'Connect your existing account'. And then we see this screen. As we are already logged in with CookieYes, we only need to press on 'Connect sites to CookieYes'....

Hello Matt! Thanks for this video. I have a question that maybe you can answer: the consent template for US Laws is usefull for all the states or only the mentioned ones, it says "The selected template (opt-out banner) supports CCPA/CPRA (California), VCDPA (Virginia), CPA (Colorado), CTDPA (Connecticut), & UCPA (Utah)". Thanks in advanced.
Hi Alejandro! Thanks for the question. Well it depends on your target audience, but I would use the template for all states! As this is way more easier to manage as some of your visitors will come from outside those specific states?
Hi, great video!! Question is there a trick to hide the cookie banner once you accept all? We noticed once you accept and then goto the contact page and then page to the home page the banner shows once again. We have the free version. Thank you!

Well it does not change anything to the functionality unfortunately. So yeah it’s way faster, but that’s all there is….

Yeah it will come, but as far as I understand it they will put this in Divi 6…
Hi! I was wondering if there is a way to allow UA-cam video play prior consent with this plugging and how can we activate it? Once I set it all up UA-cam videos in my web don’t play if I don’t accept cookies. Thanks!

I ve just made my ecommerce and installed “Cookiesyes” following youur tutorial. I would like to ask you if it is normal that some functions depends on client’s cookieyes acceptance. For example, if im on the mobile version of the website (this not happen on desktop mode), the price of the total changing the shipping method, is updated only when cookies are accepted. If not, the cart won t update.
Is it normal in your opinion?
Hi Romolo Remo! Thanks for your question. Well in matter of fact it is, because this shipping method might be stored using cookies. You can also disable this from withing CookieYes so your visitors don't have any problems with this!

A cookie plugin is required if you store personal data on servers like Google Analytics or other measurement or data saving tools. If you have a simple brochure website and using Google Analytics purely for stats, you can collect data without using IP addresses, that a setting in Analytics. Then you won’t need a cookie consent 😀👍🏻

From your answer I definitely need a cookie plugin. This cookie world is so complicated for me. I'm planning to set up email lists. What if a person subscribes to my list and declines the cookie consent? Does that mean it would be illegal to send emails to that person?

What exactlly is the cookie manager for when you "Add Cookie"? Is it fine to leave it blank? Have no idea what needs to go in there.
Hi there! Thanks for the question. Yeah you could leave it empty, if I’m not mistaking it’s mostly for adding manually cookies to your system. But it will add all of them automatically. So you should be good 😀👍🏻

Hi there! Thanks for the question. Actually I pressed the “icon” button on my keyboard 😁. That way I can insert all kind of emoticons hehe. If you don’t have those, you can copy and paste it from WhatsApp for example.
Have you to use a different email within your free account if you setup CookieYes on a second or third website?

Hi Matt, thanks for the easy to follow video tutorial. Could you or someone guide me towards my hurdle: once cookieyes performed scan it showed there are some cookies on my website, however I'm not able to categorize them due in the tutorial on 11:11 there are some meaningful ID-s like 'cookieyes-consent' while I'm getting IDs like a964ba913b60f8bda5e8676d6395f7c2 moreover, they all come from my website domain and their duration is 'less than a minute'... I'm quite puzzled.
any guidance on this issue?

No idea, tbh since it is one of the themes from a quite well known marketplace. Wrote to theme author as well. Anyway, I've experimented by installing another plugin and it recognized everything (hopefully). The downside, in order to block some cookies this plugin requires purchase.
But the issue with CY and theme installed on my site: CY is unfortunately not capable to 'recognize' cookies on the theme I'm using.
Anyway, since nothing required tuning on sites you demonstrated on the video tutorial - then right now CY is not for me.

Hello man i have an issue i have make all the setting same as the video but my cookies pop up is not showing on my website and also my images not loading in website when i deactivate the plugin than the images start loading directly. So drop a helpful comment which helps me in the pop showing as will as images reloading issue.

Hi Matt, I installed the CookieYes plugin on an e-commerce website and when visitors do not accept the cookies they are not able to add products to the cart. Do you have an advice on this issue?
Hi Stephen, thanks for the good question! That's a big problem and not suppose to happen. It seems that CookieYes need to ignore the WooCOmmerce functional cookies, as they are necessary to make the webshop even work. If you remove the scripts from the blocking list, the components will work. However, please check if this is compliant with your region. Let me know if that works!

Hi Matt, it seems the only way to be worldwide compliant, both gdpr and ccpa, on cookie yes, is to pay minimum $100 a year? 😢do you know of any other plugins that covers just the bare minimum to be legally compliant without that huge cost? You can also just use a simple pop-up which says “we are using cookies and if you visit our website you agree” but in most cases that’s not enough. However… what is the chance that you get sued? Choices… choices…

It's important for me that it works because I want to sign with an agency that will put ads on my site. Yesterday more than half of them (600) people rejected it. Do you have a tutorial where you present something that is less likely to be rejected?
Aha I see. Well what you could do is anonymize the entire working of Google Analytics, so no IP saving for example. Then you don’t need to ask permissions for those cookies, just place it 😀👍🏻
