The keyboard player is Sir Joost Van Den Broek. He’s been knighted. He was the keyboard player in Floor Jansen’s first band After Forever and he has his own recording studio where he’s produced material for Power Wolf and Epica. He was also the unseen pianist in Floor’s cover of Alone 😉

Joost is pretty much the most important person in the Dutch metal scene.
He produces everyone.
Joost van den Broek is a Dutch keyboard player, composer, arranger, record producer, sound engineer and musical events manager. He was born in 1982 and studied at the Conservatory "keyboards and music production". His first steps as a performer were with the Dutch prog rock band Sun Caged, but his breakthrough arrived on 2002 when he was selected by Arjen Lucassen as keyboard player for a short tour supporting the album "Space Metal". The two men became friends and Joost have been involved in most of Arjen's projects since then. In that first tour Joost met Floor Jansen and was soon invited in her band After Forever to replace the departing keyboard player. Joost composed and arranged a lot of music for After Forever and, when the band dissolved, he produced and played in the Floor's first Revamp album. He was also the organizer of the live Metal Christmas events in the Netherlands, which involved many musicians who later participated in the Ayreon live shows. Following the disbanding of After Forever, he dedicated most of his time to music production at Sandlane Studios in Rijen, The Netherlands. He recorded there albums of Stream of Passion, Epica, Xandria, Powerwolf, Blind Guardian and the drum tracks for Ayreon. Lucassen sought Joost's help to set up the Ayreon Universe events and it became for a few years a full-time job, involving him both as a manager, as a producer and a musician. He is always ready to help his friends and can be seen playing piano for Floor, in the live performance of her single "Fire" at Dutch radio last week.

That first Stream of Passion album is one of my all-time favourites.

Most of the modern day crap on the radio these days have a team of writers working on one song. Most of the lyrics are an insult to the intelligence of a 7 year old child - but because of the content are restricted to 18+

The keyboardist is Sir Joost Van Aden Broek. He was in After Forever with Floor and they have stayed good friends. He has had a long career as a keyboardist and producer for bands like Epica. На счёт текстов не соглашусь, у Арьена строки пишет его внутренний подросток лет 14-16, местами очень простые и примитивные как по рифме, так и по смыслу. Особо заковыристых метафор и богатства языка не наблюдается, но имхо это вынужденная для него мера, потому что очень много слоев ложится на музыку и для сюжета остаётся нарративный минимум. Плюс когда 100500 персонажей, каждому надо дать по куплету спеть, особо негде развернуться. Зато когда песня строится под одного вокалиста, там Арьен намного взрослее выдает лирику, например в проектах Guilt Machine или Star One. Ну или когда он упарывается в космоэпики типа "Into the Black Hole" с вокалом Брюса Дикинсона. Если особо не придираться, обе части "Universal Migrator" хороший пример красивых текстов.
If you want something great, Sir Joost Van Den Broek would help you. He is the most talented man on keyboards that I've ever seen. And I assume that as a producer he is great too because his catalog is also amazing. Actually, he is the co-producer of this Universe show which is out of this world.

Maggy Luyten (ex -Nightmare):
Magali Luyten, also known as Maggy Luyten, is a Belgian female rock singer. She is also a vocal coach and voice teacher at MYRIAD VOIC.
2008 - She performed guest vocals for different projects, including Ayreon's 01011001. Arjen Lucassen told about her: "I kept bumping into Magali’s name in different bands, and I was so impressed with her voice every time I heard her. I knew I’d like to work with her one day… she is just amazing". She performed live acoustically the song "Ride the Comet" at the Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht, Netherlands for Ayreon's release party in January 2008 with Floor Jansen (ex-After Forever, ex-ReVamp, Nightwish) and Robert Soeterboek.

The red haired girl is Marcela Bovio. You need to check out her Band "Stream of Passion". It is very dark melancholy progressive metal. I think you would love it and never forget her name afterwards. The band was put together by Arjen Anthony Lucassen. See link for the opening song from their Memento show. There is a couple of minutes at the beginning of backstage footage leading up to the show opener. Trust me, you will enjoy it.

Glad you are back to Ayreon. Definitely check out more about Sir Joost - yes he has been knighted for his contribution to music in the Netherlands. He not only plays keyboards, but composers & mixes. He mixed the latest Blind Guardian track 'American Gods' and he also helps Arjen a lot, getting album tracks into a format where they can be reproduced on stage - he is so talented and looks like a great, fun guy. He has worked with Floor's past bands and with Epica
I love how, right when you paused the video to talk about how everyone on stage is so happy to play music, the rhythm guitarist is making an O face....lmao. Another great song for faces (and a sweet guitar solo) is Star of Sirrah...can't recall if you've seen it or not. Will check.
Great song! It really shows how thoughtful of a composer Arjen is, having a low bass voice to start, interspersed with the high harmonies, and then Maggie pulling the harmonies along with her. It's almost like that uniting of her voice with the harmonies is the "riding of the comet" that the song speaks of.
Irene backs up "your future wife" adding volume to her parts.

the song depicts the Forever (a race) sending their genes inside some extremophiles (organisms that can basically endure any conditions) to try to recreate their life on another planet (earth), and live vicariously through them.

Maggy has such attitude and swagger on stage. You see her in the documentary on the DVD and she is so sweet and smiley.

If you like the redhead (Marcela Bovio), try some Stream of Passion, another of Arjen's projects. "Out in the Real World" live is amazing.
That whole concert DVD is amazing. I particularly like their 'When the Levee breaks' cover. It's a hard song to improve on but I think they succeeded.
Reason why American Pop and Rock are so "infantile": the large recordcompanies and media industries have figured out what the parameters are to maximize their sales and profits, and everything must be squeezed into that format.. If you want to know more about this you should look at Rick Beato's streams. This is a very experienced American Producer who know a LOT about these things (and rants about them)
And for the lyrics, I'm guessing that non-native English speaking songwriters pay more attention to writing them, and double-checking it, for the exact reason they are not fluent in it. I'm sure many of them have dictionairies at hand while writing, and ask friends for proof-reading before publishing it.
@@PatrickVanDijk_NL Arjen is a fluent English speaker regardless, but he does also have a native speaker of (American) English in the form of his wife and manager and collaborator, Lori Linstruth.
@@TranScripting Yes, Lori does the proof-reading for him. I'm not sure if I would call Arjen a fluent speaker though. A lot of Dutchies are more fluent than he is.

Anastasia my dear, you should really hear Irene speak English. She sound more British than most brits. Look up Ayreon - The two gates (Universe) where Irene introduce the band in the middle of the song. Oh, and I don't like that you're out to get MY future wife!! 😉
Irene Jansen speaks in a very distinct 'BBC English' dialect and accent.
It's not really a natural way of speaking for anyone born and raised in the UK - and it's far less common even on the BBC these days - but it's a privileged sociolect that denotes a certain type of education and (professional/class) status.
It may be more accurate to say that she sounds more stereotypically White English Professional than most people native to the UK.
