  • Chair making video. This video shows the making of a set of Chairs that are reproduced from an original Queen Anne Chair attributed to William Savery of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania around 1750. www.doucetteandwolfefurniture.com These Chairs are handmade and shaped using a variety of hand tools similar to how the originals would have been made. The seat is a hand twisted, natural cat tail rush seat that is made and weaved as they originally were. The chairs are made of solid maple with very light figure to match the original.
    At Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers we make fine custom and reproduction furniture to order with a focus on quality and a meticulous attention to detail. We combine those attributes with the finest hardwoods available today on each and every piece of furniture we make. Visit our website for more information.

    Very impressive! Even making one reproduction chair looks hard, but so many and so consistently? That’s real craftsmanship! Very well done! 👍🏻

      was there a plastic insert in the spoke shave used about 5 minutes in? If so, was that part of the tool or a shop addition and what was its purpose?

    Beautiful work. And these chairs will mean so much more to the future owner than the mass-produced junk made today (at least they should). I know they certainly would for me.

    • @solidsnake9332
      @solidsnake9332 4 роки тому

      Would you rather wait half a year for a set of chairs or have them delivered to your door in a day?

    • @christocr
      @christocr 4 роки тому

      @@solidsnake9332 That depends on your priorities and what you want. If you want junk, buy junk. That's your choice.
      I have an original Victorian settee in my living room. Hand made. I wouldn't trade it for a shipload of Walmart furniture. Personally, when I'm ready to buy furniture, I'll save up money and wait/look for a meaningful, quality piece, rather than hitting Walmart. But to each his or her own. Buy what you like. I don't mind the wait.

    • @solidsnake9332
      @solidsnake9332 4 роки тому

      @@christocr you didnt get it? Okay. . . I was just painting the picture of modern consumers for you. Im all for heirloom and classic furniture. They were truly works of art. Now youre quick to judge and placed me in such a category as the modernist consumer, but everyones quick to judge, especially on the internet.
