Man if you signiture that furniture you make one day it would be worth millions. You people are truly artist an your furniture is the canvas. An you have the perfect name to go with it. The very rich is gonna take notice. Mark my words.
Watching your videos always keeps me in check, and reminds me of how much I still can learn and develop my skills. Thanks for the post, and much respect Matthew.
My mind was blown many times over throughout this video. I admire hand carving skills and dream of having abilities like these someday. The part where you hand carved the mouldings at 15 minutes in was especially inspirational. I am new to woodworking and was planning on investing in some hollow and round moulding planes to make trim pieces in my house, but after seeing this maybe I should get some gouges instead! I don't care if it is more difficult to learn. I am inspired to give it a try.
Definitely a better way to do cabriole legs. With the dovetailed case you get so much more stability. Prior to watching this, I was going to do it this way for my next set as opposed to the leg with the post that defines the corner of the case. I wish you guys were still making videos.
That is gorgeous! You are true artists. My mom had a modern reproduction of that very same highboy and I loved it. It stood around six feet tall and my mom was barely five feet tall. She had to use a stool to see in the top drawer. 😁
That is incredibly beautiful! I hope that one day I will have the skills to do half that quality. Please keep up these videos they are so inspirational!
I have a lot of ornate hand-carved furniture and watching this makes me appreciate all the hard work that goes into a piece of quality furniture, well done guys.
Absolutely SUPERIOR work! I have yet to see anyone who has the hand tool skills that you have developed. I will be very much looking forward to your next video.
Absolutely mesmerizing piece of work, both the actual piece and the methods. I was watching this video as an educational background/company during my lunch and I literally forgot to eat. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I have at home a Baroque-style table with VERY intricate legs - I've always wondered how they were made and now I know. Thanks for the video!
What a beautiful piece. A+ on the craftsmanship. My dad used to make furniture before he retired and he would create the most beautiful furniture pieces out of walnut or mahogany wood. I really appreciate the amount of hard work and precision that goes into your work. Well done.
hand tools look like an f*ing workout. my arm gets tired using a paintbrush for too long, hahaha. This is incredible craftsmanship, a pleasure to see in action!
I ran out of descriptions of how I feel watching your build process. I could repeat what others say, but that doesn't do it for me. I'm a premium subscriber for another woodworker. I won't name drop because that would be unfair to both of you. I will say this though, although I'm perfectly happy watching your videos, wishing I could work as confidently and beautifully as you work. But I would be even more thrilled to be able to learn, just a little of how you do what you do. I can only imagine what little free time you have to yourself when you're not working on these fabulous commissions, but I would happily pay for premium content should you ever decide to open up your shop to any online training classes. Until then, i'll just continue to stare blankly at the screen while you work your magic, wishing still that I hadn't waited so late in life to pick up a chisel.
+Silent- Hill dont stare at the screen. cut some wood. ;-) no one gets good at this by taking a class. you get good by trial and error. simple as that.
The camera angles are getting better. I feel like I am learning a lot by seeing you cut those dove tails so close up. And that carving... wow! What are you not able to create with wood? Very inspirational, thank you for sharing.
This video should be watched by all people who order custom furniture. I build custom/ reproduction furniture and customers are always asking why it takes 4-6mos for a bedroom set. This video is sped up. It took this guy several weeks to compleat this piece.
Your work is always amazing to me, Matthew. Thanks for posting such a wonderful video displaying not only a beautiful piece, but also beautiful craftsmanship.
So much good tips in this video, it came out great in the end. I like how you stacked the draw sides like steps to cut the tails. Now I feel like practicing my woodworking skills.
Truly a piece of Art and amazing craftsmanship! It is wonderful to watch you build this beautiful Highboy. Talent I can appreciate and only dream of every having. Thank you very much for your video, Inspiring!
I've watched almost all of your videos multiple times and love the content. However every time I watch them I have the same thought, the carpet on the shop floor would likely drive my allergies nuts! Keep up the great videos.
Man if you signiture that furniture you make one day it would be worth millions. You people are truly artist an your furniture is the canvas. An you have the perfect name to go with it. The very rich is gonna take notice. Mark my words.
WTF man !
This carving is unreal, completely out of this world !
Hats off to you, sir !
Thanks!

Sharp design. Sharp execution. Sharp tools. I'd volunteer to come in at the end of the day to sweep up the shavings.

Thee best craftsman I've seen on the web!
Totally Agree!!!!!!!
I am in absolute awe of the skill and dexterity shown by this fine craftsman.
that molding finished by hand is just speechless!! now, that's a proof of skills of his own.
Walnut/mahogany are such great species to work with. Crisp and brittle which makes it a wisp for carving and other work
This is not only the furniture, this is a solid piece of art.
I have a lot of ornate hand-carved furniture and watching this makes me appreciate all the hard work that goes into a piece of quality furniture, well done guys.
A lovely dresser turned out. Works of art. What hard work You have done. Like!
this, Sir, was pure joy to watch. you are making art. it's not a piece of furniture, it's magic.
You aren't just a "furniture maker." You're a sculptor and artist.
Du beau travail à l'ancienne... L'assemblage en queues d'arondes est superbement bien exécuté... Superbe pièce, au final! Bravo!
This is what separates the Craftsman's from the woodworkers. Amazing talent and artistic ability. Thanks for the inspiration.

Man, you carve the best ball-and-claw feet, period!
Absolutely SUPERIOR work! I have yet to see anyone who has the hand tool skills that you have developed. I will be very much looking forward to your next video.
