  • 97757, this is the Pittsburgh Harbor Freight plastic Automotive Riveter. It is a very well priced it is a surprisingly well made tool with a lifetime warranty and is also resold by Mac RG-75 Quick-Set and POP 60930, it is true it is the same tool sold by Mac and pop rivets. it is a Billet and sheet steel tool. Is used to drive those plastic heavy duty rivets that are found on cars but can be used in many different situations. . .

      @@CatusMaximus :). I went against your advice and bought the kit of plastic refill rivets at HF, and like you said, they fall short on quality. I've tried looking for the Delrin ones you suggest, but I'm not having much luck. Would you know of any links to compatible rivets of the same quality as the one in this kit?

    The matco and mac ones are just re-branded Huck units, so when ordering rivets get jet them from Huck.

    Excellent review, yuup a Jeep owner and plastic rivets for the fender molding. Ordered the Performance Tool brand from Amazon Canada the only place I could find the similar construction.

    I really like the POM rivets, wish they had bigger/different sizes than standard kit.

      The tool has an extra large tip on it seemingly to be able to take much larger rivets up to 3/16 stem

    Read that from time to time the stem gets stuck and impossible to remove. Have you had that issue and if so, how did you remove the stem?

      Hi! I was here for that same problem too. *Catus* kind of glanced over our "stuck" problem by mentioning the cheap china pom (looks like china porn when you read it fast doesn't it) rivet kit at HF is pure crap. He's right. those plastic stems broke off inside my Pittsburg Pom Rivet Gun. I was able to unscrew the well threaded top cap off the gun, then I saw my busted plastic stem sticking out about 1/16" of an inch and stuck between those two pesky internal pinchers. Used my sewing tweezers to "hold" the protruding plastic while simultaneously "pushing down" the internal pinchers with a pair of needle nose pliers. _ *Voila!* _ this action released the broken plastic stem!

    Why every time I use my Revit gun it cuts them straight off instead of pulling them first??

    There really ARE some good things at HF. Unfortunately after my experience with the tool cart they lost me forever. I spent $170+ on the Snap On truck last week on Knipex tools. That would amount to 2 pliers.

    It would work great if the rivet mandrel (pin) did not get stuck in the
    tool. Once it's stuck in the hole in the tool, the mandrel (pin) cannot
    be removed thus making the tool worthless after that.

    Is there a reason why you can't just use a regular rivet gun with plastic rivets?

    • @xephael3485
      @xephael3485 5 років тому

      Should be able to if you have right size adapter. It has a long pull/shaft.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 років тому +1

      You can but only with large riveters because the stem is extra thick on the plastic ones it does not fit on the standard l-type riveters with the replaceable tips even the largest tip isn't big enough you need a big old quarter inch Riveter

      If you want to use an cheapo riveter and cheapo rivets, go for it. It is none of your business if others do something else. As such, your comments are a waste of time.

    • @mlacher100
      @mlacher100 3 місяці тому

      @SicarioDistrepo , I have the same question: Why can't you use a regular rivet gun with these because mine keeps ripping the stem of the plastic rivets apart. No one is says not to use cheap riveter with cheap rivets?? Your comment makes zero sense??

  • @cesarswc13
    @cesarswc13 Рік тому +1

    Yeah the rivet shaft is stuck on the gun? It will not release it this product is crap

  • @cesarswc13
    @cesarswc13 Рік тому +2

    Waste of my 35 dollars, this thing won't release the rivet shaft leaving it stuck in there and you can't use it any more
