This video I show how some projects can be experimental...and still somewhat work of the first try.

Aren't you worried about all that water causing mould and mildew etc? If I did that in mine I'd get farmers lung for sure. Love the softwood door. Don't waste your time repairing those stringers, I've done it and it took so much effort it was not worth it. They won't last the constant abuse going up and down will cause them to fail. It took a whole lot of effort and in the end I had to replace them. Either way it's all a learning experience. Don't know till you try.I do appreciate your willingness to experiment, reminds me of myself. Keep it up!

@JimRimS4S I did make the walls so I wouldn't have to worry about the water. The walls are only held up by the heads of tapcons, and the lower half is dura-rocked. The area that does mainly get wet has good airflow, and 95% of the wood won't get wet even if I get up to 3" of water and that wood is pressure treated. It only gets wet when I paint, and I spray down the floor with water, which only occurs maybe 2-3 times a month. I did repair the stringers, and they are just fine. The stairs are very solid. I've been a carpenter for 30 years, and the experiments I do keep it fresh, and I love it when they work as well. This particular project was completed 6 months ago, and it all works as I intended. Thanks for the comment!

@@zwingsworkshop300 I was definitely not criticizing your work, sounds like you know more than me, I was just passing on my experience. I do like the tap con risers. Its the dampness I was worried about but it looks like You eliminated the potential for moisture wicking up the walls. I live on the wet coast of Canada so moisture is always one of my main worries.

@JimRimS4S No worries, I did not think you were criticizing me at all. Things can get funky when you're dealing with water and walls for sure. I learned long ago that when it comes to water, if it has a way to dry itself out, there shouldn't be any issues. I'm more worried that the tap cons will eventually rust out, but I have access to remove and replace them if they do fail in the future.
