These video's are so helpful when it comes to learning new bows. Changing strings and tuning different bows can be challenging since finding the correct way online is almost impossible. Finding one source or video with all the details on this is priceless, it saves some much time searching every forum or UA-cam. Thanks again
I absolutely love the more in depth videos over the fast forward how to bow set up videos. I’m pretty stoked to watch the cam tuning videos coming up and would love seeing some more in depth string, sights, cam, arrow videos!!!
Really good information. The little pro tips that seem minute are really helpful. I can't wait for the tuning videos! It would be helpful to know how much paper tear correction you get from each tophat in the kit. I'm really glad you are doing these videos! Nothing beats learning from a pro!
Great video, breaks it down to not be so tedious and gives some good pointers along the way, definitely makes me feel a lot more comfortable to change mine myself instead of having to go to the shop, wouldn’t get this level of content anywhere else, excited for the next segment of this
This is great and well received by us DIY people that are learning to do this. I would vote for a video of how to shim a cam (not mathews) and the process involved. Very little on UA-cam with this subject.
I wanna say thank you! This really gave me the courage to dive in and start learning how to work on my own bow. I bought a press last week (from you of course) and today I just finished my first string and cable replacement on my new V3X. It look me a bit, but this video helped a ton! Got it all timed, and I'm gonna build a paper tuner tomorrow and hopefully be sighting it in tomorrow afternoon. Really awesome!!
Great video a lot of quality information that most pro shops won't tell you I appreciate that. Not sure if grating better focus on things such as the cams is possible but may help some folks. You have a wealth of knowledge and glad you are willing to share. Keep laying the content down. May God bless you
Step 1: go to the draw board and measure exactly the draw lenght. Step 2: go to the press, replace ONLY one cable and its yoke. Step 3: go to the draw board and synch the cams adjusting the lenght of the new cable you have just installed. Step 4: go to the press and replace the other cable and its yoke. Step 5: go to the draw board and synch the cams adjusting the lenght of the last cable you have installed. Step 6: go to the press and replace the string. Step 7: go to the draw board and measure the draw lenght, adjust it until it is the same exact lenght as you measured in the beginning. Done: no more adjusting required, you can install accessories, D loop and go tuning. This is how I replace strings at home, best method I've found.
Thanks for your video I just got a phase 4 33 so I was glad to see how the strings were changed looking forward to seeing how the timing video is keep doing the videos
Plus one on the magnet tray. I put two on top of my press. One holds my Allen wrenches, razor blade and a spare axle I use to push the axle out. The other I put my parts into.
These are great for the diy guy that isn’t close to a shop, so they can do their own work. I like that you reference the timing holes. I for one am not familiar with all makes of bows and where the timing holes or reference marks are on a cam. That helps a lot with synchronization and timing, thanks!
Really appreciate your sharing this kind of thing. The little things that might go unnoticed like inserting the cable ends through the yoke plastic piece from the underside. Something that might be done wrong by the inexperienced. Looking forward to the future vids. Even simple (yeah right) things like peep/d loop alignment done by a "master" would be appreciated. Thanks Josh.
Even though I don’t own this bow, super helpful for the process. If I ever did buy a bow like this, awesome reference to go by! Feedback like you requested. 1. Better lighting would help a ton. 2. Better shots of the cams and posts. Maybe add some still shots while editing. Thanks a bunch MFJJ! Maybe the Bowtech Solution SS next? 😉
That was an easy to follow. Only thing I would say is work on getting the bow completely in the frame, and making sure the focus is locked. Other than that, looking forward to seeing more of the tinker/"bow building basics" always good even for people that already do it.
Man you didn't choose an easy topic to du a solo video! It was really nice. The top ca was awsome. You forgot to edit when you pulled off bolts and bits to yrhow in the magnet tray of the first cam removal. 😊 man it was really cool! Liked it alot! Keep up the good stuff man! 👌👍👊
I had a set of Gas strings put on my V3X and I swear it now has a twang when the shot goes off and I can not remember ever having that before with the stock strings.
Where's Tim??? He's got camera skills! Just kidding. Setting up to do our own bow/arrow work at home. Great seeing "how to" videos and hearing "tips". Looking forward to seeing more videos. Thanks for answering emails.
Great video! Definitely want to see a video on top hat tuning and timing the newer Mathew’s bows. Also, how many twists and what direction to get the cables to lineup in the hole? Also would like to see a string change and toming vid on bowtech ss34! Thanks man!
Great video!!!! Nothing against my home town bow dude. But I just feel sometimes they are trying to get you good enough and out the door. I have purchased my own bow press and need to set up shop and start doing my own tuning
Found this a really good overview & to be honest feel comfortable doing it. Would also be good to see the same procedure done on bows other than Mathews. When it comes to tuning I would also like to see how to tune some of the different types of rests (eg cable drop away as opposed to limb activated).
How about a video with some different ways to tune a phase 4/ V3x now. This was a great help in learning to change my own strings, but now I'm ready for the next step.
Thanks for the video. Not too bad, can follow what you’re doing easy. Fix your angles a little and you’re good. I like “common sense” and you got it !! Put more vids out.
First time I did mine I did not check my pictures to see if they were in focus so when it comes to reinstalling strings, I had three blurry pictures that were useless. Take the time to check your photos to make sure they are clear.
Thanks for the excellent video. If you could add something in how to deal with peep twists and rotation issues to your project list it would be greatly appreciated.
Great video as always. Not sure if its the lens on the camera that doesnt seem to focus to well on the close up shots or the lighting. May some still frames for the important close ups ?
Lots of good information in the installation process. Looking forward to other brand installs. Keep up the great work. Maybe a couple splices of close ups of cams and string routing around the cams would be helpful in future videos.
It would be nice to see you do some videos on tuning target bows. I know a majority are hunters on the channel but a lot of us do both and i think a lot can be learned from both categories to make a more well rounded shooter
Nice job very informative definitely needed for those of us learning to work on our own equipment only issue I saw is a couple things did not focus in like for example cable on the cam peg. One thing you could do here is add a few pictures of the important stuff like that to the end of each video. Just a suggestion not something that’s absolutely necessary.
I just put a set of Gas strings on my Granite V3X 29. In flo orange wt gun metal servings. And the Total peep tech grip for mathews. The best grip on the market for mathews bows.
Some of the close ups were blurred, but you will get there. Good info and keep up the good work and slow down just abit. I get it, time is money it seems and we do have a pause function available.
Great video! I'm curious if the ATA was correct with these strings. I had a set of Gas installed on my phase 4 33, and they were too long resulting in an ATA of 1/8" over spec. They has to add twists to the cables, and string to get the ATA back in spec. Maybe the shop just ordered their sets too long.
Think might be a better perspective from your View, so we see what you are seeing.....maybe not but it's a thought but I understand that its kind of a hard shot to get and stay out of the line of sight. Great Video
MFJJ will you show putting strings and cables on a Hoyt RX7Ultra? Last year I had a serving pop and start to unravel so I went to the shop where I bought it and he spliced down the broken string and it held all season and shoots fine but I want to get a new string and maybe do it myself.
Look at you go ol’ son!! Solo filming a project. I’m proud of ya 💪✊
The camera angle from above was extremely helpful. Look forward to more videos and the sequence used to install cable and strings.
Awesome, great timing. I’m putting Gas Strings on my V3X 33 for the first time. I’d love to see a video on timing.

This video made the install look alot easier than some other videos I have watched, thanks MFJJ! Look forward to the timing videos.

Thank you for posting this! Just ordered some Gas strings from you and this was the perfect walkthrough to install them.
Great Video. Simple, straight forward and to the point.
I wanna say thank you! This really gave me the courage to dive in and start learning how to work on my own bow. Great VID and thank you for doing this. I have a press I brought from you and this is a great tool for us new bees
Look forward to the follow video. The that gets into the nitty gritty of twisting cables and one would have too........Good Stuff man!
I know this is an old video, and all but it helped so much. Thank you.
Great video a lot of quality information that most pro shops won't tell you I appreciate that. Not sure if grating better focus on things such as the cams is possible but may help some folks. You have a wealth of knowledge and glad you are willing to share. Keep laying the content down. May God bless you
Hell yea man! I’m stoked for future lessons with master MFJJ!
Thank you please keep them coming! Really love all the insight.
Awesome content and can say enough how awesome it is that you are willing to share this info.
Never knew strings come pre twisted to spec! Great work as usual Josh! Thank you!
Hugely helpful - thanks Josh! Can’t wait to see the timing video!
Would love to see you hook up with Tim, build a dedicated film studio around a bow press and pump out more content like this👍
Great info! Seems like you’re the only one doing this. Can’t wait to see a detailed tuning video!
Step 1: go to the draw board and measure exactly the draw lenght.
Step 2: go to the press, replace ONLY one cable and its yoke.
Step 3: go to the draw board and synch the cams adjusting the lenght of the new cable you have just installed.

1st off, that was easy to read, 2nd thanks for these videos, really helps us newbies out
Absolutely awsome. Looking forward to the next video
Master Tech sharing his skills and knowledge thank you
Ordered a bow press from you after watching this video. Looking forward to the timing and tuning videos.
Thanks for your video I just got a phase 4 33 so I was glad to see how the strings were changed looking forward to seeing how the timing video is keep doing the videos

Great video, broke it down very simple. Here’s to many more videos.

I'm running Gas Ghost XV camo strings on my V3X 33 ... huge upgrade over zebras and they are solid!
Great video. Would like to see you build a set of strings and cables step by step and then install on a bow.
Great video Josh, definitely videos I would be very interested in seeing and I think u did a good job doing it solo 👌
The lower camera seemed hazy. I love the video. My brother and I have been making our strings and installing them. It's been a big learning curve.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Great video would definitely like to see more stuff like this.
Get job on the solo video Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of information
I like it keep them coming. Great job
Thank you for all the great information!
I think you should have the top camera zoomed onto a cam. That way we can see details. Be sure it's in focus please
Amazing job Josh , great content. Keep it coming brother!!!
will be watching for more bow mechanic work , enjoyed

Great video. I've been looking for something just like this.
Glad I could help

Awesome, great video, can’t wait for the RX7 ultra

Would love to see a review of a APA bow
Always great videos!!!👍
Appreciate al your knowledge and experience ❤❤👍🤘🤙👊 thank you 🙏
You are a lot quicker than me. When I changed my strings, it took me a while because I done one cable at a time.... LOL
Like it keep ‘em coming.
Great job for the first time doing something like this. Maybe some better looks at the cams. Keep up the great work.
I’m looking forward to seeing a video on the timing and all that. My phase 4 shoots like hot garbage.
Great video.

Great information MFJJ
Great video, do have a recommendation for a budget bow press. Most of them are $$$$$
Great job!
I just put a set of Gas strings on my Granite V3X 29. In flo orange wt gun metal servings. And the Total peep tech grip for mathews. The best grip on the market for mathews bows.
Great info. Thanks
great video - this makes it easer when I change my strings. also what color was that ?
You the man brother

They has to add twists to the cables, and string to get the ATA back in spec. Maybe the shop just ordered their sets too long.
Fantastic!
Thanks for the videos! Any tips for knuckle heads like me that had a cable untwist while working and not sure how many turns to put back? Thanks
Looking forward to the timing video
Think might be a better perspective from your View, so we see what you are seeing.....maybe not but it's a thought but I understand that its kind of a hard shot to get and stay out of the line of sight. Great Video
Awesome video is there gonna be a ss34 one

can you do some older bows like an old pse bowmadness if you can find one its a single cam bow
Great video man only questions i have are how tight do you get the cam screws ? Second how do the gas ghost camo strings look on ambush green?
Hey great stuff. Could you do one on a single cam bow. If there is any difference! Thanks!
awesome thanks man
would love to see a LH bow done
Can you do a video a qad timing? And paper tuning?
How do you add twiats to the control cables? Do you roll the loop end or just twist the cable?
