Hi, thanks for finding this video, I think you came via my TikTok? For the app 'eDrawings' by the developer 'SolidWorks', the method I show you in this video could be helpful as it's one of those apps that you can find on the Google PlayStore on an Android phone, but not on a Chromebook. To get hold of the APK itself for the app I think you'd have to either: 1.) Search for it online, there are various sites hosting APKs, but you need to be careful and ensure you trust. OR 2.) You can investigate ways to extract the APK from your your Android phone's install. Keeping all this in mind it won't guarantee the app will run well on a Chromebook, as there may be a reason the developer doesn't provide it in the first place, such as it not scaling, but hopefully worth checking out.
@@MergeDroid hmph, indeed. I feared as much, since an apk is not a filetype I'd expect to be updated via adb w/ the apt command. Thanks - newly subscribed.

Ah, you won't see it if you're on the Dev channel. This method is to avoid needing to do that.
Thanks man!!!....you are best...TBH...🙂↕
Ahh, too kind! Please do check out some more of the Chornebook content on the channel and consider that all important sub if it looks good 😎
hello i did all the of the steps but after it had said error: no devices/emulators found is there anyway to fix this?
Hi, did the message on the login screen I show show up for you OK?
Thx It Worked
Brilliant, glad it worked for you. Thanks for commenting. Hope you'll check out some more of the Chromebook content on the channel and please consider a sub if it looks good 👍
Magic, thanks!

That's why I want to be able to install apk files cuz I can't get play store:(
Guessing sadly it either means your Chromebook is quite old (before the Play Store was supported), so wouldn't run apps well anyway or perhaps you have ChromeOS Flex installed, so again no Play Store support. Sorry. Any chance of upgrading/replacing your Chromebook in the near future if there was a good deal?
Bro sudo apt-get uptade not working
You have a typo above, 'uptade', double check you're not using that?
thanks man
You're welcome 😎 Enjoy your app(s) and do check out more of the Chromebook and ChromeOS content on the channel if it looks good to you 👍
Did bro really said easily?
Bro did. What's up?
sooo i love you
🤯 😂
no working!!!1!
OK, but why comment just that? Would you like help? You need to let us know what stage you're at, the error you're seeing and ideally your Chromebook model and processor if you would like help to try and troubleshoot. Please also review the other comments for similar scenarios.
@@MergeDroid yes i would like help.
@@imjustgrayson No problem, can you confirm any of the points mentioned? E.g. At what stage are you hitting an issue and do you get an error message?
@@MergeDroid i hitted a issue after the "adb install file name.apk"
@@imjustgrayson OK, so you're quite far. Is there a particular error message? Please be aware/remember that Linux is cAsE sEnSiTiVe, perhaps do as I did in the video, rename your APK to something very short, and perhaps make it lowercase for ease.
sudo apt-get update
I replied to your other comment, I think this is a duplicate.
@@MergeDroid it wont work btw
@ConstantinPadurariu-pg4mc what Chromebook and processor?
@@MergeDroid chrome book from Asus and I don't know what processor
@@ConstantinPadurariu-pg4mc Fairly modern, you already have the Google Play Store right? If it's too old and doesn't have it I'm afraid you can't install apps.
develop for android apps dont apper im in stable chanle
What processor do you have in your Chromebook?

@Domorobloxplays does that model have the Play Store? Think it's too old?
how do i repair my toilet?
That's a good question.....and probably not answered in this video, sorry!
@@MergeDroid wait serious question now, i entered the file name, and it said success. But it didn't pull up a seperate window like yours did. what do i do?
i'm trying to install geometry dash full version but when it said success, i clicked on the search at the bottom left and it didn't show up. it only came up with an app called: "vim"
Just seen this reply. Is Vim new? What is it?
@@MergeDroid i don't know
it's logo has a green background with the silver letters that spell Vim
when i was trying to download an apk, it says this. “failed to install [name].apk: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE: Downgrade detected: Update version code 1710 is older than current 1726]
It's an app you already have installed?
@@MergeDroid yeah just figured it out a while ago! you were right lol, sorry!
@cobaltsmemes2627 no worries, glad you're sorted 👍
adb install hitman.apk

Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

i get this error message, please what to do
Hi, thanks for posting. Did you try the command it suggests, "db kill-server" ? Also, can you confirm your Chromebook model and processor if possible?
The sudobaptget update said bash sudo command not found
Can you try it again and double check it's typed 100 percent correctly? I can't see why that wouldn't work really.
I cannot find Develop Android apps on my Acer Chromebook R13 (Mediatek) 🥲
ChromeOS Version 126.0.6478.256 btw
Hi, what version of ChromeOS are you running and does that Chromebook have the Google Play Store? I think it's an older model right?
@@MergeDroid it’s running Chrome OS version 126 and have the Google Play Store
@HarryHauVo thanks. Related, can you update to ChromeOS 129? Is your account the only one on the Chromebook and therefore the 'owner'?
@@MergeDroid I have only one account on that and the Chrome OS 126 is the latest update 😓. Thank you btw
@HarryHauVo no worries. In some of the other comments Chromebooks with AMD/MediaTek processors have run into some issues. I think your Chromebook has hit the end of its update life too, shouldn't really be the problem here but may not help things unfortunately. Your other solution may be having to move it to the Dev channel.
For me it said -bash: abd: command not found
Did the steps before work successfully? What model Chromebook and processor if you know?
its coming up with bash adb command not found
After which command?
@@MergeDroid 'adb install .apk'
It's case sensitive so check the lower and upper cases you use match the file name. Easy tip, rename the file to something easy like a.apk
sudo apt-get update
Having a problem with it?
