Whaaaat.... do you know how many times I've messed up a project because i had to take the mat out? You're a genius. I've watched millions of cricut vids over the years and not once did anyone ever do anything in this video.
Correct, big black box is not needed. That is why I made this video.... I needed a way to make more professional products to sell than what Design space and the Cricut would allow. When I made the investiment I was very unhappy with the size restrictions and the face that Design space would turn my art into a printed low-quality mess. I developed this method to circumvent that entire issue. Now I get full quality prints on glossy paper where I can laminate and make look more professional looking. I also now use the full page. This is important as one of my biggest sellers is Die Cut magnets and I hated wasting half a sheet of magnet paper every time I used Design space to print and cut. Now i print from photoshop and use design space to only cut.
Vanessa Aguilera you have didn't machine names in your description. Which one are you using in this video and which one is best. Also what is the name and use of the last machine in your video that you look like your using to flatten or gloss the stickers with?
Ok. That was awesome! Finally a way to use almost the whole sheet of paper! For your mat.. I did some research and found a great way to get my mat to be nice and sticky over and over again! I washed my mats in warm soap water and scraped off paper bits and etc. Air dried. Then if you don't have a steady hand, use painters tape and tape off the outside edges that are not supposed to be sticky. Now using this glue I bought from Walmart, (I paid under 10 dollars for 2 bottles), called tack it over and over, and a sponge brush, I "painted" in thin layers on the space that is supposed to be sticky. Letting it dry between layers, ( I found that most of the time I only needed to use 1 coat), test with your hand it's stickiness ability. If your mat stays attached to your hand after placing your hand down on the mat then lifting, then you're good, but if not, add another layer of tack it glue. This works incredibly and I even have some of the first circuit mats that had lost their stickiness years back and work beautifully! I have to say this was not my idea. I got it from a young lady who did a video on this and I honestly do not remember who she was but she deserves full credit. I tried it, it works and just wanted to share what I learned from her! I will be looking forward to more of your videos! Consider me subscribed! 😊

Thank you so much for the guidance, I’m starting a business and it’s so disheartening to buy such a expensive machine and continuously failing lol I appreciate it so much, keep doing what you do!
This is fantastic, bit all you have to do is wait h the paper size in the upper left hand corner before you print and it will fill up the entire Paige without all these steps
Awesome tutorial! I’m an original Cricut user (remember the cartridge days?) and you just proved that one can always learn a trick or two from geniuses like you! Thanks Eric!
I realize this is an older video, but thought I'd make a note for anyone else struggling like I was. My printer automatically adds a margin. Unlike this video, the software won't let me dismiss the fact that my image is larger than the print dimensions. When I'd print, my registration marks would never be perfectly in the corner, but they were still the same 1/4" size I set them to. (I made sure "Center Image" was turned on, but it didn't make a difference.) That meant that when I set the image position in cricut to 0,0 the alignment was off, even after cutting the tape and setting the page into place on the mat. I fixed the cut alignment by changing that positioning. I still cut the tape rectangle with the position set to 0,0 but when cutting the image I left the dimensions at 8.5 x 11, but changed the position to the width of the automatic printer margin. (In my case that's 1/8" so I input .125,.125 for the position.) It still wasn't perfect (I think reloading the mat shifted it a little) but it's the closest I could get it, and the only usable cut I had after tinkering with settings for quite some time. If your image has enough bleed around it, this will be the ticket. Happy crafting!
Greatly appreciate the input. What printer do you have? Maybe this will help more people. I find most issues we run into is the Printer not the cricut.
@@kristenroma7833 if you go into your advanced printer settings you can select "print boarderless" and it goes right to the edge (as much as it can) hope it helps!
I've done this the hard way. I printed, laminated and cut LOL doll images for my daughters bday party, before they came out with the party favors. I'm trying this with my new cricut! Thanks.
I was going to ask WHEN the real video started, but looked at the comments. It looks like you impressed a lot of folks so I'll gratefully watch the full video. Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant. I make a lot of stickers and labels. Had to believe there was a way to save all the wasted paper. Found this and it showed me way more than just what I needed to know. You showed me things I needed to know that I didn't even know I needed to know. Thank you, Sir!
Thank you so much for this! I just got myself a Cricut today and was getting a little frustrated that I couldn't get it to cut what I needed from what I printed. I had the right idea, but was missing just a little. Thank you so much for this!
This tutorial is FANTASTIC! I ran into a few problems due to my equipment and I'd like to share my solutions if ANYONE is having the same issues I was! I am using Clip Studio Paint, Hp Envy 4520 printer, and I have an Explorer Air 2. And the material I'm using is a matte sticker sheet and the self laminate. First, don't forget page markers (those little squares in the corners of the page) CSP does not have a specific setting for markers unless you are doing storyboards for comics, so just add 4 squares yourself and save that 8.5" x 11" page as a preset for all your full page sticker needs. Now that's all fine and dandy, but my cuts were reaaally offset after setting up everything here correctly shown in the video. I found out my printer does not support borderless printing on letter-size pages, so the prints were coming out with a 1/8 of an inch border on all 4 sides. The way I tackled this was testing out the image size and positioning in Cricut. For some reason setting x= 0 and y= .125 and keeping the image size 8.5" by 11" works PERFECTLY! I thought since the boarder was there each side had to be reduced by .125" and the image had to shrink down by .25" on each side. To my amazement, all I had to change was the Y-axis. And with the laminate and sticker sheet, I made a custom material and set it to 325 pressure. 300 was almost on the mark, but 325 works perfectly. Other than all that, my printer stopped printing color for a bit, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver countless times. Don't ask me how I fixed that I don't even know. I hope this helps someone having similar issues!!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Sometimes it takes a lot to work with what you have. I run into so many different issues with these devices and printers are the worst sometimes.
Thank you! I think I may be having this exact problem but I don't understand your solution at all, could you clarify? When you said "For some reason setting x= 0 and y= .125 and keeping the image size 8.5" by 11" works PERFECTLY!" did you set this measurement on your printer, in CSP, or on DesignSpace?
@@amberseber6839 The 8.5" by 11" Was the measurement made in CSP first, and the x= 0 y= .125 were the measurements in design space when setting up the cuts!
I spent all last afternoon getting mad at my Cricut because I couldn't figure out why it wasn't cutting accurately- was having a really hard time finding anything by googling (Googlefu weak?) and your tape trick worked like a charm, thank you so much for uploading!
Dude you’re the video I’ve been looking for!! My explore 3 kept on shrinking my print under 5x10 making it useless for my product. Saving this and trying tonight.!!
This video saved me. Thank you for showing me this method of cutting decent size stickers without wasting so much sticker paper. I was getting fed up using the print and cut method.
Thanks for the reply. I started using this to make larger vinyl decals for cars too. Still works great and I even just got the Maker and it works just as good on that machine.
Thank you!! I don't have Photoshop but I have had success using your steps on Windows Publisher. First I just started with "calibrating" my printer and machine by only using the four squares and reg copy paper (so I wouldn't waste ink) after gaining a sucessful cut then throw my design on the page and did the next steps on the video. The main thing is to figure out your printer. 😃
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU .... i've been looking for a solution with my cricut for 1 month now and you just solved it ... i test it with 8.5x11 with 12x12 and with 12x24 and it WORK so THANKKKKK YOUUUUUU :)
How did you set up the 12x12? When I try to do the blue painter's tape it does not allow me to cut a 12x12 shape. The biggest I can cut would be 11.5 x 23.5? I'm so confused..TIA
For the 12x24 (and 12x12) didn't use tape just the mat and plain white 12x12 paper (2 glue together for the 12x24) then in photoshop i set it to 11.5x11.5 or 11.5x23.5 when you print you center it on the page so instead of placing it a x:0 y:0 in DS i put in in x:0.25 y:0.25 you have center your image :) that is what i did :) hope it helps
LoVelyFr THANK YOU! I just found a way to save my Design Space image as a png and open it in Photoshop and I feel I've got the jackpot. I was staring to recreate everything in PS. So if I'm trying to do this all on 12x12 do I even need to use tape? Wouldn't I line up my paper on the 12x12 mat and leave a 0.25 margin in Photoshop and then set up the x and y in DS at 0.25? The tape is throwing me off! I'm so appreciative of your help... I'm working on this right now and on a time crunch :/
no tape for the 12x12 ... use a 12x12 paper ... BUT in photoshop set your canvas (base background how ever you want to call it) at 11.5x11.5 ... put your registration mark at 0.25 like in the video same thing in four corner .... print it on a 12x12 paper CENTER IT (use the printer or program option for that) ... then in DS size your image a 11.5x11.5 but instead of placing it a 0x0 place it at 0.25x0.25 so ds accept your cut cause its 11.5 and it should work (work for me) can i ask what is the method you use to save your ds image in png ??? please
This vid helped me so much, now i could print more stickers without wasting paper and cut just enough on one page just in time for artist alley! Dont let the cricut company find out about this video 😂
Thank you so much for making this video. I've been tearing my hair out for the last 3 days because print then cut is such complete garbage. Using your method fixed my issue with inaccurate cuts when using glossy paper.
Awesome, I had some tricks similar to this but the use of the tape really makes it much more accurate. Great video, thanks for sharing I will be using this trick.
This actually works & Microsoft word can be used as one of the software programs but it's a few work arounds such as converting to png image to upload to design space. Hopefully this helps someone else.
@@EricMBoyd I am having alignment issues and also my images are coming out big and small when i printed how you did it. They seem like inconsistently coming out the same. So how would go about fixing this problem. Same method as you and having problems for days now.
Man, you are awesome, where have you been all my Cricut life! I love it. thank you sooooo much for sharing. Now I just have to get Photoshop for my Mac and I'll be all set. Thanks again.
I've done print to cut, and yeah, it's a huge waste of paper, and it's a major pain to calibrate it every fricking time. So glad I found your video. I've never liked the print to cut feature of Cricut. I had to turn the lights off and do it in the dark every time. Even daylight would mess it up. Now I can do it any time. Thank you for this video!
Thank you! This is just what I was looking for. I print and cut shrinky paper, which is not cheap. This will help me make use of every last bit of paper!
I watched this because I was trying to help someone else with a Cricut. This is why I don't own a Cricut. Other machines will cut a full-page print and cut without tricks. I don't understand why the limitation on Cricut! Genius workaround though. But my Zing does it without all these tricks. I think the Silhouette does too.
yea I'm pissed. I bought a cricut in december, just opened it up last week to start using it (was very slow in clearing a space for it) and now I realize it can't do the most importnat thing. I really want to return it now and get a silhouette or something without this illogical limitation.
Eric, your tutorial and method worked like a charm for my full page size, extra large one image iron on. I've never used Adobe Photoshop but you made it easy enough. I used HP inkjet to print on Jolee's Easy Boutique Image for Dark Fabrics first. My Cricut Explore Air 2 did the cutting. The off-set white background worked beautifully. I made a few adjustments, like welding a lot of empty spots, but ultimately, the project turned out perfectly. Thanks!!!!
Comments like this are why I posted the video. You are welcome and I am always grateful to see how people are using this to so many other things than stickers!
Very intricate process just for the set up. I am going to save this for latter when I get a little further along. I use Photo shop very well but not ready for this.
Hey all It's 4/6/20 and this hack still works. I have a new Cricut Explore Air 2 and the latest version of Design Space. You're amazing for figuring this out Eric - thank you!!! 🙏🙏🙏
This is great, I didn't even see him impport anything into the design space. That's an even better hack then sending everything to the printer from the design space..
THANK YOU for this! Saved me so much time and money. I've had my cricut for years and it's barely been touched since it caused so many frustrations! I could never find a tutorial or way to cut stickers like this.
Welcome, I had the same issue when I got my machine and frustrated me for while until one day I just thought I will not let this machine get the better of me. Once I realized part of the issue was design space not keeping my images the way I created them I had my ahhh haa moment.
I'm having a hard time lining the paper up correctly to where it's cutting by a lot. Tried re-positioning the paper placement a couple times but it's not working for me
@@EricMBoyd Are the registration squares supposed to be on the corners of the paper? My printer seems to be adding padding to the paper. I have an Epson as well, did you print using the setting US letter (borderless)?
Found your video after reading a post on Facebook about how much it helped her. I had to watch it a couple of times but I finally understand and really appreciate you making it. I haven't used print and cut in a while because of the waste. THANK YOU for sharing.
Most advanced video on using a Cricket. Always thought Adobe Photoshop works with more software involved. I use Adobe Illustrator to cut vector on a more commercial level. We do 20’ signs and vehicles. We use Roland’s and Graphtec cutters but principles are basically same Great vid
Why haven’t I seen this video before now!! Thank you I have an explorer air 2 and have lately had problems with print and cut for cake toppers and other things I will give this a try before throwing my machine out the dang window.
Can I use this method to print on A4 paper or do I need to specifically buy papers of Letter size? I understand the print size for Letter and A4 are different. When I cut the 8.5x11" guide on the painters tap, then put my printed A4 paper within this guideline, it didnt fit. What is the workaround please? (Im from the UK so have never printed on the Letter print size)
You can use all the same techniques with UK A4 paper just need to change the Cut on the painter's tape to match your size paper. UK A4 is 8.27x11.69 in the US we use 8.5x11, so change your cut and you should be good.
Thank you so much! I know you made this video a while ago but it has really helped me along with the ink scape tutorial. These were super helpful. Definitely the best video and most helpful!
Awesome work Professor, from start to finish your tips and tricks answered a lot of my question I had prior about using a Ciruit product. Great work👍👍👍
yeah.. it works! :) I used CorelDraw to prepare the registration marks. However I did find watching how he did it in 'inkscape' to be helpful as well. For instance, he gives the size of the registration marks that he uses.. mine were way too big until seeing his. In my 'trials' I used a pen in place of the blade which I was glad of because to start with I didnt use the registration marks at all !! Couldnt see a use for them. Stupid me.. Cricut uses them to size the page instead sizing to whatever was in the middle of the page. I learn the hard way. To make the mat last longer I dont have the blade in during the cutting of the registration marks or I can see that cutting repeatedly in the same place would wear out the mat in that spot. Now all I have to do is fathom out why on earth Cricut actually cuts 'twice' when only supposed to be once. But thats another issue. So grateful to Eric for giving his time to video and let us have how he does this 'work'. Bless yer heart honey, great stuff, thanks again.
This was a refreshing to read... I really appreciate it. Your Pen trick is a really good Idea! I never thought to use a pen for testing. If you don't mind I may have to add that to a new video. I am working on a new video series and will be breaking everything down into smaller videos . Again thank you, this makes me want to share more videos!
is there a video on how to do the same thing on inkscape? I haven't ventured into photoshop yet...and as I was watching I was lost on how he actually got the registration marks on there
Hi Eric. Thank so much! I hope cricut make a change so you can print and cut full pages, but until then this is great. Just wondering if the update to design space that just occurred changes any of your instructions. Registration marks used to be just corners, but now it’s a full black box. Will this technique still work? Thanks!
I have tried to do this but it does not work, the print is always off when cutting, also for this to work you need a borderless printer, a lot of the cheaper printers will not print borderless, which will put your registration marks off the page, automatically. I have been trying to do this for weeks with no luck and a lot of wasted materials, I will just wait and print the old way until cricut allows us to print larger than it allows.
Yep. Been using the same mat for a year. I use the Awesome cleaner from Dollar Tree every so often to clean it along with their scraper. And then spray a little adhesive. It does great.
I prefer embroidery spray adhesive. I use KK100. I have watched this so many times. It's the best way to Print and Cut on Cricut. Thanks!
Thank you.
Thank you for this. I was so frustrated trying to figure this out that I was almost brought to tears! hahaha You saved the day.

Thanks. Good luck on your business.
Wow, wow, wow.... I am a newbie to Cricut & you just opened a world of possibilities for my "Creatively Bent Personality"
Thanks, if you have any questions I will try and answer them. Hope you have fun with the cricut.

@@EricMBoyd is using Photoshop the only way to make the registration Mark can these marks be made in design space?
@@barbra429 no because we don't want to use Design space to print.

Just completed a successful full-page sticker print with your awesome tutorial! Thanks for the help - you the man!
I know you've had hundreds of comments but I have to say this is one of the best tutorials I've seen on this machine. Thank you!

@@EricMBoyd I have an HP OfficeJet 4650
So did you leave the tap on the cutting mat like it was for position 0,0 or did you redo that too?
@@kacieo777 i have hp office jet 5600 series & its very frustrating because it always leaves a margin too.

Great tutorial. Also, loved the tip about taking the blade out, and putting it back in. That was a good tip as well.
Julie Little I'm confused about how to print and cut here ??

I've done this the hard way. I printed, laminated and cut LOL doll images for my daughters bday party, before they came out with the party favors. I'm trying this with my new cricut! Thanks.

Absolutely brilliant. I make a lot of stickers and labels. Had to believe there was a way to save all the wasted paper. Found this and it showed me way more than just what I needed to know. You showed me things I needed to know that I didn't even know I needed to know. Thank you, Sir!
Thank You. Glad I could show you those things you didn't know you needed to know... LOL
Thank you so much for this! I just got myself a Cricut today and was getting a little frustrated that I couldn't get it to cut what I needed from what I printed. I had the right idea, but was missing just a little. Thank you so much for this!
YOU ROCK. I just got a Cricut and the misalignment issue has driven me crazy ---- for HOURS. Thank you for sharing your process. Really --- THANK YOU!
As photoshop user, this convinced me to switch to cricut. It has stronger cutting force than silhouette. This hack is really great to all cricut.
Huzzah! You, sir, are a genius! Thank you for being so thorough with this awesome tutorial
thanks!
I spent all last afternoon getting mad at my Cricut because I couldn't figure out why it wasn't cutting accurately- was having a really hard time finding anything by googling (Googlefu weak?) and your tape trick worked like a charm, thank you so much for uploading!
Thanks, glad it worked for you.
Excellent tutorial my friend! You are the REAL MVP! This is fantastic!
Dude you’re the video I’ve been looking for!!

This all seems so simple, yet it never crossed my mind. Thank you for sharing such helpful tips. I can't wait to put them to good use.
I ordered the Cricut Maker yesterday. I will try to do this from Illustrator :D Thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU .... i've been looking for a solution with my cricut for 1 month now and you just solved it ... i test it with 8.5x11 with 12x12 and with 12x24 and it WORK so THANKKKKK YOUUUUUU :)
Welcome, glad I could help!
BUT in photoshop set your canvas (base background how ever you want to call it) at 11.5x11.5 ... put your registration mark at 0.25 like in the video same thing in four corner .... print it on a 12x12 paper CENTER IT (use the printer or program option for that) ... then in DS size your image a 11.5x11.5 but instead of placing it a 0x0 place it at 0.25x0.25 so ds accept your cut cause its 11.5 and it should work (work for me)
can i ask what is the method you use to save your ds image in png ??? please

Brilliant! Thank u didn't think about just using the cut feature full sized. That's been my biggest hang up between Cricut vs Silhouette
Thank you! This is just what I was looking for. I print and cut shrinky paper, which is not cheap. This will help me make use of every last bit of paper!
That's great I have done that a few times too. What do you make?

You are welcome and I am always grateful to see how people are using this to so many other things than stickers!

witch tab you touch to disperse the registration mark?
THANK YOU for this! Saved me so much time and money. I've had my cricut for years and it's barely been touched since it caused so many frustrations! I could never find a tutorial or way to cut stickers like this.
Welcome, I had the same issue when I got my machine and frustrated me for while until one day I just thought I will not let this machine get the better of me. Once I realized part of the issue was design space not keeping my images the way I created them I had my ahhh haa moment.
I'm having a hard time lining the paper up correctly to where it's cutting by a lot. Tried re-positioning the paper placement a couple times but it's not working for me
Angel K are the registration squares cutting correctly with the tape?
@@EricMBoyd Are the registration squares supposed to be on the corners of the paper? My printer seems to be adding padding to the paper. I have an Epson as well, did you print using the setting US letter (borderless)?

The registration marks are such a smart idea to make sure your cricut isnt about to waste a whole page on ya!!! Love this and will use in the future!
aaahh.. so thats what they are for! Not for Cricut to scan them, but to make sure Cricut has it right.. thanks for that :)
Thank you so much for the reply. So glad I stumbled across your videos.

Fantastic! You're awesome, thanks for this! So much great stuff in this video alone. I can't wait to see more from you!
Brilliant. I have been working on this...but it was the centering on the printing step that I missed.
yeah..
Again thank you, this makes me want to share more videos!
the score tool might be even better than the pen for testing.. just an idea :) I look forward to your other videos.
another good idea. No waste. Save the Pens ink.
is there a video on how to do the same thing on inkscape?
Martyn Tranter i really hope they do. It’s such a waste of time and materials.
It works in the latest version I just needed to do this the other day, I never use the Cricut Print and Cut options.
Would this still be the same process since design space has updated, the print then it has a whole square now and not just the corners ?
yes, he said so to me in his reply to a similar question. Do not use 'print and cut' just use the cut. :)
He used Photoshop to print from. Me, I will be using CorelDraw.
my man!!! hats off to you, Eric. This was propa good!
