I just want to say thank you so much CantaPerMe for this video! I finally beat the masters test following your guide to the tee. Although I cleared it in 30 minutes due to making a few mistakes and just not being as skillful as you are... I'm happy to have made it through the most difficult offline quest.
I just did it at second try, in 10 min or so! X3 I had some issues like missing Seregios mount before it gets Apex or carting once cuz Deviljho's slam, but this guide works reeeeally well, even though I have Bounding Dalamadur, which has a lot less blast element, it doesn't seem to matter too much, they tripped like good boys, so thanks Canta! That's my first time completing aaaall offline quests in a MH. Ever. Once I was close, on MHF2... but double Rajang smashed my dreams, as usually =D
I commented on your first video on this and directly after watching I beat the master's test for the first time. I messed up on the jho part and i had little resistance from sergios and diablos. But i mistimed my wystones so i had to wait for them to recharge. After that I had a perfect run. I used: Hellruin glaive omen-x2 bombardier jewel1 Star Knight helm-x3 tenderizer jewel1 Star Knight mail-x1 bombardier jewel1 Star Knight vambraces-x1 artisan jwl3 Star Knight coil-x1 bombardier jewel1 Star Knight greaves-x2 tenderizer jwl1,x1 bombardier jwl1 Creator tali-+3handicraft,+5tenderizer OOO I know star knight is in high demand right now so i you can't get star knight gear,just use one of the sets shown in the videos. My star knight set was modeled after his "speedrun" set. Remember always: It is possible and jho is one pickly d***

As soon as I had my Crimson Fatalis Insect Glaive fully upgraded, I did the Master's quest... It was tough... It didn't help that the Jho spawned exactly when I killed the Diablos, but I managed to prevail.
There's some things that I found by finishing this quest after a huge number of tries. These can help you if you have trouble: If Seregios is some ledges under you right at the beginning of the quest, I found that was easier to just get the red juice rapidly from it's head instead of going down to take it from it's legs, you'll still have time to walk toward his leg and make it trip. Try to anticipate your mounts as much as possible instead of hitting the monsters untill the very very end when they're down. A good mount ensures enough damages to kill Seregios and Diablos without having to use your wystones, or fighting too much when they're turned apex. And finally, be careful when you want to make Seregios or Diablos to trip, you have to attack only the leg, and it's harder to do it for Diablos. (it's belly is lower than the Seregios one, or it's legs are too close each others I guess ?) So hit it right from the side, it's better. Be careful cause the left leg will kick you when a monster starts roaring, making you unable to make them trip as fast as you want. Well, I hope I haven't told any nonsense, and I wish my english wasn't so bad ! Have fun beating th... Oh well it ain't much fun untill you manage to beat it for the first time I guess... Happy Hunting !
Hey Canta :) Thanks for the video! I'd have one question: I am new to Monster Hunter and I struggle a lot with the camera controls, how do you manage to keep them so smooth without getting lost? Do you you the ZL and ZR keys, are the C-Nub (if its called like that)?
Your guide is amaizing! I was planning to craft every single weapon in this awesome game and of course hone them so I will need tons of zenith gems. Currently with my evade set I'm able to clear TMT under 20 minutes, but your guide opened my eyes and showed me that charge blade isn't best choice... Thanks Lord I have charm Hearing+5 OOO so I can add Tremor Res along with other skills. Jho will suffer!

Do you think it's enough to complete the quest in less than 8 min (even though I'm not a god of hunt like you :P)?
CantaPerMe The only one that I've seen is a CB player (his name is Chris) ^^ I've seen some IG player but you're WAYYYY more precise in your attacks and dodges :P
Many thanks for the tips, I used to do this with a similar set that had rodeo god and razor sharp, but Challenger+2 makes the big difference and I can do this better thanks to your armor set (I have trouble evading everything without any evasion skill but well... I need to train). Atm I can beat it in like 15 min, I hope i'll improve this cause it's such a great way to farm large Zenith! Thanks alot for your guide!
I was doing this tactic perfectly, my set had challenger +2, razor sharp. honed blade and hg earplugs. I was so confident that it was going to go well until I got to the point where it was time to mount the Seregios. Somehow the Diablos had made its way over to me and I ended up mounting him instead. This resulted in both the Seregios and Diablos going apex at the same time leading to a failed run. It gave me a good laugh overall
And i always thought i'd be a good 8/10 with the Glaive...i stand corrected and, btw: I need that crimson Fatty glaive! Now! also: Keep up that amazing work (aka hast ein Abo mehr :D)

Well, This quest is being more prickly then an angry pine cone *Seregios* I get the angry pine cone down and then the diablos. But then the deviljoh comes to me and says * I rekt all you skrubs and shall fuck your shit up.* So any tips for the jho besides drugged meat and a pitfall trap?
I've tried this atleast 15 time by now but i keep having to abandon during the first 15 seconds due to my bg missing/phucking ledges/the monster's starting position is undesireable or i just plainly fail on my own accord.
Ugh I've only ever played with the switch axe and despite hours of practice I just can't figure out the insect glaive... I've tried to follow this video but I keep messing up and it's driving me mad :(

I have this set now, I have hg earplugs, challenger 2, sharpness 1, and attack up (M). This is what I used, easier to get to. 2x spirit jewel 2, 3x earplug jewel 1, 1x artisan jewel 3, 1x attak jewel 2, 1x attack jewel 1, and a talisman with spirit 3 one slot, or spirit 3 and attack 1+ good set?
If I have atk +14 charm, should i use atk up XL instead of challenger +2? If I can also get fortify is that good or is it bad because they'll turn apex? Hope you answer, amazing video!
pietari218 Why not both? (or Challenger +2 and Attack Up M/L, dunno what's possible with this kind of charm). You can use Fortify if you want, but I don't see any benefit in using it since carting twice on purpose takes quite some time and it's not like the monsters in this quest take that much damage to begin with.
Any tips for a GS user? I already finished it but I feel it could have gone better. Took me over half of the allotted time. I wasn't using any attack boosts skills or items though. So other than those, any tips?
+Numa Pompilius Dunno, you're free to try it out yourself. I don't think that the difference between those weapons is so big that it wouldn't be possible with the Daora IG though.
I made seregios fall down maybe 5 times and mounted it until it was dead, with the same weapon, but complete Auroros set and not your set. That's crazy. Diablos the same. And deviljo is a killer machine. 😞 And I had the attack buff seed and mega demon drug. And the charms and claws for the inventory that give attack and defense buff too 🤔 Edit : I think I know now what the reasons are, I made the life honing and not the attack honing and maybe the challenger skill give a lot more damage buff as I thinked.

I DID IT! I had full Kushala armor with the True Fatalis Dyaus honed with attack. Skills were Evasion +3, Mind's Eye, Weakness Exploit and Elemental Crit! Talisman was Tenderizer +5 Fencing +7 with two slots
I'm using: Star knight armor Challenger +2, hg earplugs, rodeo God, sharpness+1, steady hand 738def,883atk,520 dragon dmg (fatalis glaive, for three slots as two were not enough) I'm still really having trouble!!!! Is the small attack boost really that important?
Yes, Bounding Dalamadur is actually better and easier to build around because of its innate high white sharpness. The reason I recommended Hellruin Glaive in this guide is because the G-rank Dalamadur event quest wasn't available yet when I made the guide so there was no way to get Bounding Dalamadur.
I can't get it right at all... Steve spawns in a different position every time and when he went apex I just bounced off... Guess I gotta find another way :/
danathann Keep trying. Seregios's spawn position RNG can be frustrating, but once you get the position you want you're golden. It just requires some practice so you can position yourself correctly. Early on I had a bit of difficulty with hitting the legs while Seregios roared (bad positioning) and I eventually got it right. Also, getting the right behaviour out of Deviljho ca be tricky because of sleep meat, but don't try and lure him over. Continue fighting aggressively and if he doesn't go for the meat it's no big deal as he should be close to dead anyways. I made the mistake of trying to lure him and it cost me more than 5 minutes, resulting in a 15 minute run.
Cyra Wolfire Nah, the Caravaneer's Challenge does (Zinogre + Furious Rajang + Shagaru Magala). From what I've heard, you can also get the rainbow colours from this quest if you haven't beaten Caravaneer's Challenger yet, I can't confirm that though.

Nothing ever goes to plan :C Either both see me at the same time at the start, I take too long dodging Seregios attacks and Diablos sees me before I can throw a smoke bomb, or I'm too late in mounting Seregios.
Dangozaki I don't think it's that big of a deal if it doesn't completely go according to plan as long as you manage to deal a shitload of damage to them before they can do anything. For instance, if you can't mount Seregios in time, maybe skip the "trip it a 2nd time" part and mount it directly as soon as it enters rage mode (that's what I also did in my other Master's Test video)
I managed to pull it off. Seregios and Diablos died according to plan, but Jho didn't go for any of my sleep meat, so he ended up entering Apex again. ): After that, I had to play patiently until I could knock it out of Apex again, and not long after the Jho died. I managed to salvage the run for a sub-15, too :3
how did u have 100% mounting chance for every jump attemps u did?... usually it takes me around 2-3 successful vertical slash jump with glaive...then mount the monsters >.>
+CantaPerMe Hey Canta, i watched this on my new 3DS, and when you slow down the speed, the music in the beggining actually begins to sound creepy. I'm not lying, try it! Also, I'm having trouble on apex regios because i keep on bouncing due to how long the ig is. Do i HAVE to wait until jho to use drive, or can i use drive on seregios? It seems i dont have to use drive on jho, because his legs are so long. Which brings me to my(2cnd-to-last)last question: How do you not bounce off that regios when he was apex? whats the combo? +matthew vang Nah, you can use drive on Diablos if you want to, but it works completely fine without it for me. Also, you don't bounce off Seregios' legs even when it's apex. Dalamadur Glaive is completely fine btw.
im talking about when i hit the other parts of the body, like the wings, because the smoke bomb kinda hinders my vision, so sometimes i hit other apex parts of regios like the wings. But thanks for the answer!

I'm running full star knight (not fully lvld up) dropped sharpness 1 for HG earplugs and tremor resist with max lightbreak press and my dumbass still cant do this. clearly not a master :(
+Keeslar Stover If you're dropping sharpness +1, I'd definitely recommend to use the Bounding Dalamadur. It has blast element, very high raw and a shitton of white sharpness, making sharpness +1 negligible.
+CantaPerMe honestly though this quest has made me a better player already. I just coasted through the village part of the game from getting g rank with my friends before I ever really touched it. While steam rolling everything online I never truly learned how to insect glaive like a pro.
+Southtexascopilot Felyne Weakener and Defense Up M-L is Hairy Tuna and Mega Bagel. What this does is makes the monsters do less damage, and take more damage.
Guillermo Martinez I'm the same. I can kill the seregios at the same speed he does, but it feels like my diablos has more health! It just keeps on going!

Neither, I use the d-pad on the touchscreen and the lock-on camera, mainly the d-pad though.

I see the benefits of smoke bombs, but it also apears that you can use the fence switches. Which he doesn't ever seem to mention.

pietari218 Why not both? (or Challenger +2 and Attack Up M/L, dunno what's possible with this kind of charm).
You can use Fortify if you want, but I don't see any benefit in using it since carting twice on purpose takes quite some time and it's not like the monsters in this quest take that much damage to begin with.

+Numa Pompilius Dunno, you're free to try it out yourself. I don't think that the difference between those weapons is so big that it wouldn't be possible with the Daora IG though.

I made seregios fall down maybe 5 times and mounted it until it was dead, with the same weapon, but complete Auroros set and not your set. That's crazy.
Diablos the same.
And deviljo is a killer machine. 😞
And I had the attack buff seed and mega demon drug. And the charms and claws for the inventory that give attack and defense buff too 🤔
Edit : I think I know now what the reasons are, I made the life honing and not the attack honing and maybe the challenger skill give a lot more damage buff as I thinked.

I think I used a set with Evasion +2 on my Gunlance run of this quest, I'd recommend to check that out, the set is usually shown at the end of my runs

I DID IT! I had full Kushala armor with the True Fatalis Dyaus honed with attack. Skills were Evasion +3, Mind's Eye, Weakness Exploit and Elemental Crit! Talisman was Tenderizer +5 Fencing +7 with two slots

+Mary Gilbert no, but you're missing a lot of damage by using dragon element instead of blast.

Yes, Bounding Dalamadur is actually better and easier to build around because of its innate high white sharpness. The reason I recommended Hellruin Glaive in this guide is because the G-rank Dalamadur event quest wasn't available yet when I made the guide so there was no way to get Bounding Dalamadur.

I can't get it right at all... Steve spawns in a different position every time and when he went apex I just bounced off... Guess I gotta find another way :/
danathann Keep trying. Seregios's spawn position RNG can be frustrating, but once you get the position you want you're golden. It just requires some practice so you can position yourself correctly. Early on I had a bit of difficulty with hitting the legs while Seregios roared (bad positioning) and I eventually got it right. Also, getting the right behaviour out of Deviljho ca be tricky because of sleep meat, but don't try and lure him over. Continue fighting aggressively and if he doesn't go for the meat it's no big deal as he should be close to dead anyways. I made the mistake of trying to lure him and it cost me more than 5 minutes, resulting in a 15 minute run.
danathann The spawning position doesn't really matter at all, its roar is long enough to give you enough time to position yourself properly

Cyra Wolfire Nah, the Caravaneer's Challenge does (Zinogre + Furious Rajang + Shagaru Magala). From what I've heard, you can also get the rainbow colours from this quest if you haven't beaten Caravaneer's Challenger yet, I can't confirm that though.

Nothing ever goes to plan :C Either both see me at the same time at the start, I take too long dodging Seregios attacks and Diablos sees me before I can throw a smoke bomb, or I'm too late in mounting Seregios.
Dangozaki I don't think it's that big of a deal if it doesn't completely go according to plan as long as you manage to deal a shitload of damage to them before they can do anything. For instance, if you can't mount Seregios in time, maybe skip the "trip it a 2nd time" part and mount it directly as soon as it enters rage mode (that's what I also did in my other Master's Test video)
I managed to pull it off. Seregios and Diablos died according to plan, but Jho didn't go for any of my sleep meat, so he ended up entering Apex again. ): After that, I had to play patiently until I could knock it out of Apex again, and not long after the Jho died. I managed to salvage the run for a sub-15, too :3
how did u have 100% mounting chance for every jump attemps u did?... usually it takes me around 2-3 successful vertical slash jump with glaive...then mount the monsters >.>

Also, I'm having trouble on apex regios because i keep on bouncing due to how long the ig is. Do i HAVE to wait until jho to use drive, or can i use drive on seregios? It seems i dont have to use drive on jho, because his legs are so long. Which brings me to my(2cnd-to-last)last question: How do you not bounce off that regios when he was apex? whats the combo?

+matthew vang Nah, you can use drive on Diablos if you want to, but it works completely fine without it for me. Also, you don't bounce off Seregios' legs even when it's apex. Dalamadur Glaive is completely fine btw.
im talking about when i hit the other parts of the body, like the wings, because the smoke bomb kinda hinders my vision, so sometimes i hit other apex parts of regios like the wings. But thanks for the answer!

I'm running full star knight (not fully lvld up) dropped sharpness 1 for HG earplugs and tremor resist with max lightbreak press and my dumbass still cant do this. clearly not a master :(
+Keeslar Stover If you're dropping sharpness +1, I'd definitely recommend to use the Bounding Dalamadur. It has blast element, very high raw and a shitton of white sharpness, making sharpness +1 negligible.

+CantaPerMe honestly though this quest has made me a better player already. I just coasted through the village part of the game from getting g rank with my friends before I ever really touched it. While steam rolling everything online I never truly learned how to insect glaive like a pro.

+Southtexascopilot doesn't make much of a difference, but Pyro is something you could go for.
+Southtexascopilot Felyne Weakener and Defense Up M-L is Hairy Tuna and Mega Bagel. What this does is makes the monsters do less damage, and take more damage.
