    I bought an olive that was discontinued to £10.00. I got it for £5.00. I followed your tips and I’m glad to see leaf buds growing on the tree. Thank you for your informative videos.

    I only just came across your channel a few weeks ago and your Aldi olive tree rescue was one of the first I watched. I do hope it makes it! Poor thing!

    Hi Mark, did the tree show any signs of life?
    Got 2 more olive trees from my sister in law that she was going to throw away, followed your steps from your previous olive tree care videos and they are recovering well. Cheers for the great advice.

    Hi Mark
    Thanks for the video and I followed the process to the letter. It’s been 2 months now but still no signs of new life. How long should it be before new shoots emerge and should I water with added plant feed in?
    Thanks
    David

    My dogs pulled off my olive tree out of my pot and did some significant root damage still some on it but the length reduced. What do you think about it Mark?

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  5 місяців тому +2

      I think it will grow back, just follow the basic principles explained in my olive videos and it should survive, water it a little extra but not too much as it gets re-eastablished. Mark

    I know this didn’t turn out so well, but you inspired me to invest in a bigger olive tree - about over 5ft tall Morrisons, £35 (which I think is very reasonable!)
    The poor thing was dried out, potbound and seemed to have been potted in clay… soaked the root in water and sprayed it with the hose to get rid of as much of it as possible and gave it a new pot with lots of perlite. Current issue is it seems to have been wrapped up or confined to a small space for a long time, the foliage is very compact and the branches have grown ‘inside itself’ for want of a better phrase. Hopefully concerted pruning year after year will give it a more natural shape. Right now I’m happy for it to settle in a bit.

      Thanks beedle. What is curious about this rescue is that it did well after repotting but failed during the winter. I feel I may have performed the operation too late in the year. I'm still hoping for growth at the base. Good luck with yours. Mark

    I’m wondering about the bigger one. Was the trunk that wide when you purchased it. If not, are you maintaining it in the same pot by trimming the roots and pruning?

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  5 місяців тому

      Hi Liz. It's basically exactly how it was when I bought it but just with a lot more foliage. The trunk hasn't widened yet. It's been in that pot only one year. This year (2024) it will be planted into the ground permanently. Mark

    It's a shame that it's died back so much, Mark. Hopefully, it comes back from the roots 🤞

    I have an olive tree that has black spots on its leaves, especially the older leaves, after winter. Have any of your olives had that issue and if so, how did they do?

    Hello there! I am looking for some help: my olive tree in a pot in 2 days went dry, all leafs went from green to brown, tree inside is alive - still green. Shall I prun all of it? Limitate watering? Thank you

    • @MarksHouseandGardenUK
      @MarksHouseandGardenUK  22 дні тому +1

      I think prune a little. And yes limit watering. And finally be patient because they can go backwards before springing into life. Mark

      Hi Alison, thank you, and before you completely lop the top off can I suggest that you snip through a few of the branches at the top to check if there's any signs of 'upper' life...you never know 🙂 good luck with it. Mark

    Try watering with banana skin water, that should help revive it. Just soak some skins in a bottle of water and water it in. 👍🫡

      @@tonymulreid6347 it might sound daft but I’ve had plants dying or wilting from being transplanted and within a day there as good as new and maybe need to apply a few days later but it’s worked for me. 😂🫡
