Happy to find your channel , Mark.
My little olive is doing well; the only issue is : it’s cold in winter , here in eastern Canada.
End of November , I put it inside the attached , unheated garage ( there’s a window, with good light ). I never have the courage to leave it there long enough to induce flowering, though, since it can get down to -10,or -12 for a few weeks , even in there .
Would you think it should be fine , anyway ?
    Many thanks
    Ed

So glad I found your channel. I have an Olive tree that I bought at least 4 years ago honestly don't remember when exactly, its flowered and had olives every year so far, but the last few weeks its leaves are yellowing and going into clumps and look like they might drop (We have had insects gluing them in the past but I cant see what is wrong this time) I was getting ready to cut it down but after seeing this video, hoping I am not too late to replant...

May need some fertilizer. Wouldn’t do much but just a little slow release. Unless you’ve fertilized it then you may have done too much. Seems it could use some extra nutrition. ♥️

The tree it's in a big plastic pot 100 cm diameter,we always used olive feeder for growth but now we are panicking as we don't want to lose if.
The foliage it's very pale and some yellow leaves and marks on them, and they drop easy if touched.

Hi mark firstly thank you for your great and informative videos. I need your advice please, I have have two olive trees from small and now much larger, I’ve noticed (and now understand from your videos ) that I’m over watering. We are now in June would I be able to give them an overhall like you have … trim, drainage etc now or do I need to wait until March ? I’m just over the border in wales not far from you so our climate is similar. Appreciate your advice many thanks Alison 🌿😊

Hi Alison. If they were mine I would definitely do it now. I feel there is plenty of growing season left to refresh themselves. I would prune a third of the foliage off. And because there will be tender new leaves and branches I would consider wrapping in horticultural fleece in winter.

Hi Mark, this is exactly the advice I was looking for. I have a similar sized olive tree which I have tried to rescue. ( The leaves were all dry a crusty when I got it, as the person who owned it had it indoors and it wasnt well watered in a large plastic pot). I have trimmed off all the dead wood, dried twigs and repotted as instructed. Its been over 2 months, the bark is solid and green when i scratched the surface to check...but no new leaves!! Is there anything I can do? Grateful for any advice! 🙏

I am so happy I came across your channel. It's so informative. I would be grateful if I could maybe pick your brain about repotting my first olive tree. Or maybe I could get some advice from your subscribers:)
It's about 10-15 years old, around 2 metres high. I am already in love with it. My husband bought it for me along with a terracota pot. Unfortunately, he did not listen when I mentioned that it should be substantially bigger that the 50 cm plastic one the tree is in. And as a result, it is only slightly bigger than the plastic one, maybe 2-4 cm wider...I obviously tried to get a bigger one and I visited most of the garden centres in my tiny country (Luxembourg), but found no teracotta pot big enough for the tree.Yes , there are plastic ones that are big enough for my tree, but I feel like plastic is not an ideal solution for any plant, especially not for an olive tree.I checked the internet and it appears the terracota pots in the size I need cost around 200 euro plus. Now, I would be happy to spend this money , If I knew my olive tree survives, but since I am just starting my journey, I am hesitant about it. But I have to make the decision as I think now is the high time I repotted my tree.
So I am left with four options:
    1. To buy the expensive huge terracota pot, repot, and hope for the best.
    2. To buy a huge plastic one with big drainage holes and see how the tree is doing in it over the next year. If it survives , replace it with the terracota one.
    3. To switch the original plastic pot with the terracota one my husband bought and wait until next year. I know it won't give the tree more space to grow, but at least it's going to be healthier for it.
    4. To leave it as it is until the next spring , as some of my friends suggest.
The climate here is somewhat similar to the UK when it comes to rain . However, my south-west facing terrace , where the tree is supposed to live can be very hot in summer.
Thanks to everyone for any suggestions.

Hi there. Congratulations on your Olive Tree and thanks for your lovely comments. I've been thinking about your question about pots and here are my thoughts. You only need to worry about the pot when the olive shows signs of stress. And when it is time to repot, it doesn't need to go into a significantly larger pot. I had olives in plastic pots for several years and they did absolutely fine - although my ideal preference is terra cotta. I have an early olive video where my olives went into plastic and thrives - but the drainage was enhanced very much. Why not wait a little while. See how your olive does. Then at the start of the growing season report into a slightly larger pot made from terra cotta? Add grit or perlite for drainage. Don't over water. Would that be reasonable? Mark

Thank you so much for such a detailed answer. You've helped me a lot. I am truly grateful.
Now I feel tempted to check whether there is enough drainage in the present pot:) It's been raining for ages here.
May I ask what you mean by the start of the growing season? Do you mean late April?
      Thank you:)

Hi. I see from one of the other comments that somethone has had vine weevils in with their Olive tree. I have too. About a month ago I repotted my Olive hopefully getting rid of the weevils and treating the compost. I then hard pruned the Oliver. As yet there is no sign of new growth, 😢 so I will be very interested to see how your hard pruned tree comes along.
