gorgeous and you got more than 15 years of possibilities out of it also.
Yes, gorgeous. I had other plans for it but I am happy with the out come.
Why are the fingers so red? What happened to them?
Wow! That is absolutely stunning. The depth of the red is phenomenal. The holographic effect is really strong with this opal. Like looking into
another dimension . It's just spectacular, for a piece that big it's amazing how much it has going on..................Be well and be safe
Thanks for your feed back. It was nice to be able to share the process after sitting on it for so long.
Wow...it reminds me of the color of the Virgin Rainbow! Beautiful.
Thank you for your feed back.
That’s beautiful gemmy color
Nice polish
Thank you for your feed back.
Great Video , Beautiful Opal , do you think the diamond paste is better than cerium oxide , I have only ever used cerium oxide but the finish you get looks maybe better ?
Thank you for your comments. Its difficult to say. What I think is important is your pre polish stage.
Providing your diamond paste or cerium are quality items, you can use either. I prefer powder when polishing cabs or large flatter surfaces on a leather buff but if I am working on uneven surfaces I prefer to use diamond paste on a felt bob. Mainly due to reduced throw off.
Cheese Louise! That is some lovely colour. I bet that was a very good day finding that underneath the clay. 😁😆 Possibly once in a lifetime occurrence for part timers like me. Thank you so much for sharing. 👌
Thanks for your feed back. Yes, it could have been a fail but it turned out in my favour. I love the variety of opal from Andamooka.
Cheers, Robert! Living your channel, bud. Thanks again!
Question for ya, have you ever inserted a drop pendant post into the iron stone of a boulder opal piece? Curious as to whether the ironstone is stable enough to drill a hole, glue in a drop pendant post, and hold for years.
Thanks for your feedback and question. You may have mixed results in drilling ironstone. It will depend on the ironstone and you wont find out how stable it is until you drill it. If you have managed to drill it without it breaking, I think you can be confident it will survive a few years after gluing. My answer may not be that helpful and you may already know these things but I don't think there is a clear answer to your question other than take your time when drilling, drill under water, try to select a diamond drill that is running true with minimum vibration. Hope it all goes well. 🙂
hi mate iv just started buying the odd bit of opal and just bought myself a dremal but am finding it hard to find the right bits for both cutting and polishing where do you get your bits
