This is a song that pretty much says that they are stuck in this town and wish they could leave, I may be just messing with myself when i think this but I think that Casey wrote this song, and in the end he wasn't able to actually leave even though he wanted to.

This has been my headcanon since my second playthrough. It fits too well, and it makes the song hit you even harder in the feels.

it's worth mentioning that Scott Benson answered that on his Curious Cat page bc someone asked the same thing and he said "nah casey wasn't a writer." It does make you wonder which of the group did though! My bet is Gregg and Mae wrote it together, they seem the type.
@@jamieeverett5313 My bet is it was Bea, she states in the game multiple times that she has always wanted to leave the place and go to college (the reason she doesn't like Mae at the start).

@@blixerthememer5465 Based on what source? In-game, it is heavily implied through dialogue that this is Bea’s song. A variation of it is also included in the Finding Bea scene. Most of the songs are ambiguous enough that the player can decide who they think wrote them.

This is my personal favorite cover of the song, since it has that authentic Garage Pop Rock sound, especially with the production style. Sounds like it was recorded on an old computer or cassette tape. Good shit overall.

This is probably the best cover I've seen, shame it doesn't have more views.
Well, I liked it, perhaps mainly for that it gets a small part of the text right that a lot others misses, namely that the word first in each line of the chorus actually belong to the verses just before, in the end: one verse is often interpreted as "if only I could die anywhere else", but in the game, that verse is clearly shown as "only I could die anywhere else - so".
its been like 4 years or smth and this still slaps. most ....faithful vibes to the game's vers, imo. thank you for your marvellous work. i especially love the build up at the start as all the parts trickle in, and how the first verse is mostly just vocals and bass to show off that fantastic bassline. wonderful orchestration!!

This game manages to perfectly capture the bizarre mix of emotions that come with moving back to your home town. It's one of the few games where i truly felt an emotional connection to the characters. Thanks for doing this song justice.

Vocals are indeed on point, the sentences are in several others' versions sung together, but the game clearly shows them cut up, like you do "only I could die anywhere else - so" while too many goes "if only I could die anywhere else"..... However, I have yet to find a version where the text is *growled* , as it is "sung" by Angus, and it is noted that Angus *growls.* ^_^
I finally got around to playing this game after wanting to do so desperately for so long. Somehow, despite having only partly-watched let's plays years ago, the game makes me feel nostalgic for experiences I've never even had before. The game is just so touching and moving, it's a shame that Alec couldn't be around now to see everyone's appreciation for his work. Awesome job on this man, everything about this is just awesome.

I played this game a week ago, I was really late lol, but this game moved me hard. Love this game and this song is exactly how I imagined this with vocals. You did a phenomenal job! Hopefully we get a sequel to this game.

This is almost exactly how I imagined the song with a singer... I was a little bit disappointed to find only female singers singing this way too "seriously" on you tube... and that (for me) didn't fit with the not so serious music contrasting with the serious meaning
Love this song. A perfect rendition of the song in the game that captures the nostalgic (and sad) lyrics perfectly. Makes fall last all year long for me. I know you made this 4 years ago, but did you have any inspiration from other artists on this song? I would love to listen to more music that has this same vibe to it.
