I appreciate your tone, positivity, and the thorough ways that you present the content here. Your response to the feedback from the "Boston ED physician" at the end was tasteful and not off-putting. I appreciated this video, per usual, Jonathan.
I work at a generally inundated ER in Boston and, although we get a lot of visits from patients who would be better served by Urgent Care or Outpatient treatment, I’ve never seen anyone come in with emergent low testosterone as the reason for their visit.
How many of them had insurance though? Not every urgent care will see someone that doesn’t have insurance. The ER can’t turn people away because they’re not insured.
That ER doctor who sent the email was just a grumpy hater that thinks everything on the internet is bad. At worst he had a couple people ask if whatever they have might be linked to testosterone levels because they saw a video talking about it. Also, that's not the only channel to discuss this matter. It's actually a pretty trendy subject. He seems to project everything he heard online about the subject on that one channel (because there is a lot of misinformation crap out there, put on by other people).
I thought the the response to the email was fine and very reasonable. I thought you drawing the estrogen graph was one of the funniest things I've seen in days, so thank you for that! :D
Awww his response to the unmerited email was very kind and professional. We are not out here to offend or scare anybody however it does require discipline and self-awareness with plenty of potential to comprehend to mentally digest these facts via the videos herein. Also keep in mind we can only share what we resourced as fact or experienced during our performance of duties
I had to cease TRT due to elevated liver enzymes. My blood labs returned to ‘normal’ within 90 days. My libido is non existent but my insides are safer.
I remember reading about HRT treatment for menopausal women causing very high rates of cancer? I was hoping the doc would talk about it, but I looked it up and yes a womans cancer risk goes up with HRT. Its not recommended at all for women who have had any kind of cancer. And not recommended to take for long as it increases risks of dementia. If these drugs are so risky for the right sex, how could they possibly be safe for people with the wrong sex?
I enjoy the feedback from the email. It gives a different take on how other people view your content and it doesn't take away from the learning aspect it provides dialogue
Regarding the ER doc concerned about young guys presenting at the ER with low testosterone concerns. Lots of young people, especially with lower incomes do not have a GP nor do the understand how medical services are provided. If as youngsters they where taken to the ER for every condition they don’t understand that a “doc in a box” let alone a GP is an appropriate more cost effective option. Is there some way we could educate people as to the appropriate point of service? Love your videos!
no complaints here - "informed awareness," probably the most important combination of words when learning about something that hopefully results in one's judgment and decision-making
I think answering to this one email will make a chain of other people making emails just to be on a video. I wouldn’t recommend it but it’s definitely good to answer them. I just don’t like the way people can exploit this, but you guys do whatever you want!. I absolutely love you guy’s videos!
Yes please make clarification points in videos. So many people just read a comment and roll with it regardless of the qualifications of the person who made it. Just because it gets posted on the internet doesn’t make it fact. Thank you for your vids. Education made enjoyable.
Awesome video, especially for males. Such a mighty hormone! And no, you haven't told anyone that ''Low T'' is a ''bad thing'' but rather explained the benefits for men (AND) women, even though these effects don't impact women as much. Male or female, both parties should understand their hormones.PS: Very nice addition to answer critique, it is very common and also very interesting to hear you respond.
The response at the end was completely fine and in line with your educational mindset. I'm not sure if this is related, but another feedback I'd give is that I get the impression that you are too harsh on yourself when it comes to the content in your videos. At the end of day, the channel is yours and you should have the freedom to do what you want, without worrying so much about what people think, imo.
We appreciate you explaining the response to the ER doctor that had his own criticism to say. It we handled well by Jonathan and please keep doing what your doing :) these IOA videos are educational and backed by science and statistics.
You guys do an excellent job. Excellent job of relating good solid information. I’m an ICU nurse retired and you make things very clear. And responding to criticism I would only do it if you felt you were being totally misunderstood. As was the case today.
I was a desk worker retrained 5 years ago as a PT (no where near level of a doctor) but ur videos on the CV system, muscles, all that jazz and how it actually works provides me MORE gifted detail than my actual qualification. Honestly I can’t thank u enough for bringing this level of knowledge and detail to a profession that in most places doesn’t get that detail unless u can afford uni and do sports science. I’ve recommended u to clients and collegues because it’s so enlightening. Also makes us humble- we whinge and complain when we can’t deadlift our body weight on a bar but ur channel has highlighted how many body processes and body CELLS and hormones and systems need to be functioning perfectly enough for us to even try. Having the hissy fit is a gift. So is the channel. Please keep it up :) ❤ Love, UK PT 🇬🇧
We have learned to receive useful but free information from everyone. No one knows that when we were busy with pleasure or earning, you read some books and gave up the pleasures of youth to reach this stage. I personally appreciate you for spending your life in the dissecting room smelling of phenol and formalin while I received my medical degree in medical college smelling of cologne from the pictures in the book.
I remember that you said before that knee pains might come from weak muscles surrounding knees. When I feel something strange on my knees, I use a foam roller a little longer than normal on quads, hamstrings, IT bands, calves, and so on. It usually solves the "strange" feeling of my knees. Your suggestions, opinions and explanation of biomechanics are very useful.
Thank you for this! I would love to hear how estrogen affects women during perimenopause and what happens after menopause IF estrogen is not supplemented. I wish someone would’ve warned me about perimenopause and menopause. Great video!
This channel has revolutionized how I see and understand my body! I’m not necessarily against answering what other people say but would suggest maybe doing a section dedicated to that! The overall tone of your videos is awesome, very light and clear and that’s one of the things I like the most but maybe showing a side a bit more spicy when we answer can be super interesting if done in the “right place” (note that I don’t think this was the wrong one, but if I want to see you answer I’d like you to do it as free and completely honest as possible 😅) thanks for all you’ve shared so far!
As a veterinary student, I suggest that one of the team from the institute start a channel for veterinarians, because I really enjoyed one of the videos of the male genital system.
This is a great video! I’d love to see one about the changes and effects of both types of HRT, commonly used by transgender individuals to gain bodily changes , and how these hormones affect people not predisposed to making them in that amount.
Cool idea, there's more than two types of hrt tho. You're probably thinking of Testosterone for transmasculine and Estrogen for transfeminine people, but those aren't the only ones, just the most common ones.
I love anything you guys do on this channel, I found how you addressed the idea of future criticism responses very respectable, I'd say if you do plan on doing it make it a separate series from the main stuff, like a compilation of odd responses you guys get on videos
Keep responding 💪 quality educational content as always, and recognizing criticisms and providing clarifications, needed or otherwise, are a sign of mature, rational, and humble considerations.
No problem at all in responding to issues that have arisen from a video. I love your channel, your content and delivery style. As a person whose received an orchidectomy (left testicle removal due to cancer) I've no idea what my testosterone levels are, but I'm 53, it happened in 2010, and everything both works and a high sex drive exists. I've a shaved head as hairloss developed in my late 40s, so testosterone videos are interesting. If a test were offered, I'd happily do it out of curiosity, but not about to go to a doctor and request one unnecessarily.
I'm only commenting about this because you asked for feedback: I don't think this particular response was necessary because the first point was already addressed in the other video and the second point was simply stupid as no one goes to the ER for low testosterone. However, if you got an email or comment that was thought provoking or legitimate and you wanted to share a response, I'd find that interesting unlike this response. I learn SOOOO much from your videos and I really appreciate you taking the time to create them! Great work!!!
Honestly, obsessing about Testosterone is like the least of possible harm, if they go further and start really dig into anabolics, there are many, many other options out there that are incredibly potent, and incredibly dangerous.
You are doing a great job, keep up the great work. Your response was also great as always your videos are integrity driven and information well researched.
🤣🤣That estrogen demonstration for women described my life accurately! Im am laughing hysterically!!!I am a 38 year old woman from Georgia. I LOVE your personality and passion when describing anatomy. Where were you during my high school biology class years!?😂
Personally I like the idea of responding to criticisms, whether it’s valid or just based in ignorance. It adds just a little bit more information that someone might be curious about
I do appreciate that you are willing and able to speak so openly about so many "not discussed" subjects that I am rather surprised and yet not surprised that you have been questioned on your discussion. Let's be honest here. Men are generally rather concerned and protective of their maleness. The young males most particularly. I do believe that the over-worked ER doctor needs to maybe learn to be more empathic with both sexes when it comes to the delicate discussion of hormone levels and what to be aware of, as you have discussed with your audiences on several videos. Thank you for your honesty and humour on what can be a delicate subject at times.
I started my testosterone therapy about 2 years ago. I have gone onto a 90% carnivore diet and have lost 75 lbs. My energy is awesome, I'm getting jacked in the gym like I was 25 again. Even my competitiveness is strong and I love showing the under 30s how to do it. Then reality settles in when I get home and I have to collapse for a 2 hour nap!!!
Can we please talk about the importance of estrogen in men too? I have never felt worse than while on anastrozole on trt (.2cc test eod, 23mg clomiphene citrate ed, and .5 mg anastrozole on eo shot day.) Anastrozole tanked me estrogen and my joints felt like crap, my skin was bad flaky and covered in acne, my liver enzymes were high, I had horrible ed, and my libido was non-existent. I think this stuff is over prescribed as like part of the trt "package."
You’re doing a great job Jonathan I think this doctor from Boston is jealous of your success on you tube especially since you are very young and inteligent at the same time. So don’t worry about him keep making more videos!!!! I love to watch your channel and at the same time I learn a lot from it.
It will be great if you can also cover testosterone with depression and anxiety. Most psychists never check the T level of the patients, just know how to prescribe SSRI. In fact, lots of depression and anxiety can be solved with endocrine therapy.
A lot of men online have been so sensitive about every little thing effecting their testosterone lately. Can’t eat this, gotta do this or that workout. Meanwhile women have been taking hormonal birth control for like, what, 80 years now! I don’t hear them complaining nearly as much as we do.
I don't care much about the heart attack hormone that manipulates my mind. I sure wouldn't mind having a lower level of it. i do a fair amount of running but its not like I have to be the fastest and best runner or whatever so some women get impressed. like cancer is an impressive example of evolution hormones like testosterone show us vividly that we are just biological robots running that code that is written in our dna. kinda depressing.
I appreciate your responding to feedback. As to what the best means of response is, and the proper balance of positive and negative feedback to a feedbacker (yes, I just made that a word), that is something you'll probably have to experiment with. A balance between negative and positive things about any one piece of feedback is probably best. 14:12 I would hope that people would reach out to their Primary Care Provider (PCP) about these things, though I am shocked at how many people I know in their 20's and 30's don't actually have a PCP. If the situation is bad enough, they go to the ER. That's it. Also, some guys may not be comfortable discussing T concerns with a female PCP. I would be interested to see percentages of people who have or don't have a PCP, and how that varies by a person's age, and how it has varied over the past few decades among people of the same age group. Food for thought...
As a mechanic in Boston I have to say since the release of that Testosterone video I have been inundated with young guys demanding I fix their car asap so they can rush themselves to the ER.
I've been on it for 2 years now and hasn't done much for me. I'm jealous of all the people having all these great life-changing effects. The first 6 months I definitely had more energy and motivation at work, but that's it
@@JohnQPublic345 Yes, the creams will cause hair loss much quicker, because they skyrocket DHT. I lost a ton of hair the first month I tried creams, but I switched to injections, which work much better, but you won't lose the hair nearly as bad. For me, I stopped losing hair completely on injections
Could you please also cover the often marginalised topic of female testosterone hypersensitivity which is so often under diagnosed and causes such devastating conditions as alopecia and acura acne. Doing so will bring an answer to so many sufferers struggling to find a solution to their misery.
I like the responses. As a medical provider, too many of us don’t understand the concept of health optimization and being proactive about health. I wish I would have had my T checked back in my 20s or 30s as a basis of comparison so I would know how to best optimize now. Also, I’ve never in my 20+ years in the medical profession ever seen a patient present to the ED asking for a T test.
I agree with what some people have said about this Dr. just wanting to make a point about being a Dr. I also love that you responded in video form so we can all see what's going on behind the scenes a little bit. Keep up the great work guys :D
Im rushing to the ER to get my low testosterone tested! Just kidding. loved the clarification even though I didn't think it was necessary as I didn't take the same thing from the first video as the ER doctor did. Your channel is absolutely amazing. Thank you for showing us how the body works.
Some channels make a periodic dedicated video to answering questions and concerns, which if approached properly, can be a good video filling in gaps or things people may have simply missed
Getting a blood test in your younger years is really beneficial. It can be used as a baseline for when you're older. So I'm confused why it would be a problem. Am I missing something?
I totally agree with you on responding to critics on your videos specially if it is a stupid and not well funded argument ! I think you're super professional, intelligent and always based in scientific and anatomical evidence. I appreciate all your videos ❤
I don't know if someone already pointed to it but at 0:36 there is a mistake in the estrogen formula where a single C atom is shown to have 5 bonds which is impossible. Other than that, a great video!
I'd suggest that if you are going to respond to comments from other professionals or content creators, you should also make public the positive comments they make about the channel, instead of only responding to criticism. Loving this channel, great work!
Good video as usual. If someone claiming expertise or credentials can't be authenticated, it would be best not to reply in your videos. However, I do think your reply was well tempered & factual...

Then reality settles in when I get home and I have to collapse for a 2 hour nap!!!
Anatomy pathway lesson is always mesmerising no matter how much you learn about it 😎
👍🏻
Can we please talk about the importance of estrogen in men too? I have never felt worse than while on anastrozole on trt (.2cc test eod, 23mg clomiphene citrate ed, and .5 mg anastrozole on eo shot day.) Anastrozole tanked me estrogen and my joints felt like crap, my skin was bad flaky and covered in acne, my liver enzymes were high, I had horrible ed, and my libido was non-existent. I think this stuff is over prescribed as like part of the trt "package."
Thank you for posting. Happy Easter
Same to you!
You’re doing a great job Jonathan I think this doctor from Boston is jealous of your success on you tube especially since you are very young and inteligent at the same time. So don’t worry about him keep making more videos!!!! I love to watch your channel and at the same time I learn a lot from it.
I love the idea of addressing feedback! It offers potentially needed clarity and knowledge 🤓
Feedback is good, as long as it's backed up by science.

I would hope that people would reach out to their Primary Care Provider (PCP) about these things, though I am shocked at how many people I know in their 20's and 30's don't actually have a PCP.
The first 6 months I definitely had more energy and motivation at work, but that's it
how about hair loss / regain?
Also, I’ve never in my 20+ years in the medical profession ever seen a patient present to the ED asking for a T test.
i like it that you responded amd clarified. Keep up the good work
I love the subject...very informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I concur!
The feedback you gave that person that emailed you was very tactful. Keep making fantastic videos!
Great channel, great content, great host. For me is a form of relief, from all the geopolitical and iconomic topics that i watch.
Happy Easter everyone!
Igual mente🎉
I agree with what some people have said about this Dr. just wanting to make a point about being a Dr. I also love that you responded in video form so we can all see what's going on behind the scenes a little bit. Keep up the great work guys :D
0:36 that estrogen looks wrong, if you count there are 19 carbons and it should be 18, that methyl group on the left shouldn't be here
Oh hey I was wondering if somebody else saw!
hey! good eye! @@TomMinnow
PLEASE, DO CONTINUE RESPONDING TO COMMENTS OF CONCERN AND CLARIFICATION. THANKS! AWESOME CONTENT AS ALWAYS!
One of my favorite science channel. :D
Im rushing to the ER to get my low testosterone tested! Just kidding. loved the clarification even though I didn't think it was necessary as I didn't take the same thing from the first video as the ER doctor did. Your channel is absolutely amazing. Thank you for showing us how the body works.
Love from India ❤🙏😇 sir !! Your Explanation is too the point, amazing experience 😊!
Thank you for this video, so informative
I think your response to the email was totally appropriate! Great video! Thanks
OH dayumn the first one here. love your channel btw.
Nope wrong
Thank you!
Great channel, love to hear responses to it, especially from other doctors.
Format is awesome, little response at the end is cool. K keep it up, great channel.
I like the response section, keep it up.
Thank you!
I love your channel. Feedback was good objective and classy. No complaints here.
Love the response to feedback, it helps develop critical thinking
4:39 you enjoy drawing those lines, you can't deceive me
I'd suggest that if you are going to respond to comments from other professionals or content creators, you should also make public the positive comments they make about the channel, instead of only responding to criticism.
Loving this channel, great work!
Hey Doc, you’re too good to be responding to other people’s comments or opinions. Just stick with what you’re doing already and keep winning!
Good video as usual. If someone claiming expertise or credentials can't be authenticated, it would be best not to reply in your videos. However, I do think your reply was well tempered & factual...
Keep doing those videos. There’s always something to learn from it.👍🇨🇦
