54 here, there is a movie if ever remade, Ghost should do the whole soundtrack, that movie is Phantom of The Paradise. Can only imagine Ghost doing a cover of "The Hell of it".
One of the most amazing things about Ghost is Tobias is a musical genius. Out of the first 4 albums there have only been two songs that he hasn't written all the elements himself for. He writes and plays all the instruments and lyrics for everything which is mind blowing. He writes and plays the guitar, bass, piano/keyboards and drums. He then teaches the tour musicians what and how to play them for the tour shows.
This song seems to tip its hat to Dream Warriors - Dokken's horror movie soundtrack contribution for Nightmare on Elm Street III (in 3D!). Ghost are master songwriters, and do "borrow" from the 70's and 80's for their sound, but the production is modern, and doesn't feel like a throw-back. This album was number 2 in the US, so its connecting with a lot of people.
Thing about Ghost is that every album goes for a different sound. They’re still considered metal because of the iconography and lyrical content, as well as the attitude.
They absolutely have the 80s sound, this is a band that I love more and more as I listen to them over and over again. Even the song Twenties, which seems to be everyone’s least favorite, I have come to absolutely love! 🖤
Honesty, the version on the new album is different enough from the HALLOWEEN ST that it’s a significantly better version IMO. I noticed at the ending film credits that the song is missing quite a bit of what we get on the new album. Ghost is metal influenced/80’s AOR at its best man. Always love a new Ghost release. I will be seeing them live on this tour which will be a 1st for me. As one other comment eluded to, each record has a different vibe but the catchiness and melodies remain. Tobias Forge is slowly forming into a modern pop-metal genius.
Yeah that's the thing about Ghost songs, they tend to grow on you after repeated listenings. Also, if you want another song from the latest album, I'd recommend Kaisarion. Not counting the instrumental Imperium, they used it as the opening song for not only the album but also for their recent US tour.
I couldn’t help myself, I started listening to the new album already before doing videos for it, and I love Kaisarion! I’m trying to put together a cover of it now.
@@garyofalltrades You know what, I don't even blame you. Kaisarion is such a good song! Have you heard the live version of it? It sounds better with the Ghouls doing the back up vocals.
If you like this, and the 80s vibe, you'll love the rest of the new album. Check out Spillways. Also, check out songs from their previous albums. I recommend Ritual, Year Zero, Cirice, and Faith, each from their previous 4 albums. Also Square Hammer from an EP.
Also, that _is_ Tobias singing, but in character he is Papa Emeritus IV. Basically a Satanic Pope. I recommend sampling something off of each of their albums.
💥🎸 I would like you to react to the Pawer metal group called: "Edu Falashi" theme: "Temple of Hate" in collaboration with ex-Helloween "Kai Hansen" is the most fantastic thing I've heard live
As a 50-year-old who lived through pretty much every era influencing this album, it is like an amalgamation masterclass.
💯. I'm 61 I know exactly what youre talking about

Since doing this video, I’ve fallen in love with Ghost’s new album. It’s so good
The 80s is definitely a good description for them. Their song Danse Macabre, the first time I heard it I thought it was being sung by The Scorpions.

I like it too...just different...

I’ve listened to the rest of the album a ton now and I love it.

I'm pretty sure he's there already or darn close
