- Truckee Tahoe Gravel Race by Bike Monkey is one heck of a course.
Took some friends over to Truckee to do a re con of the Truckee Tahoe gravel race XL course.
An absolute epic gravel course really well put together and not for the faint of heart at 102 miles and just under 8k of climbing.
Enjoy!!!

"Today's the day to send it - casually" Just love that! Nice job boys, got tired sitting in my chair watching y'all.
Some quality moments on that ride 🤣
Bang! Best recon release yet 💯 What a monster of a course 🥵
Definitely earned that XL 🥵
Thanks for the recon. Good to see the trail and gravel conditions. I’m doing the 70 and think my 47 pathfinder pros will be perfect after hearing your thoughts at the end. Kudos to all
Thanks for watching 🙏
Your going to have a blast, so many good sections even on that course the bear valley is incredible.
I use to run those pathfinders out there solid fast tire 🤙
Thanks for sharing! That gravel looks niiiiice 😀 can't wait for next weekend.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Its going to be an epic time the courses are so good 🤙
Thank you so much for sharing! I’m doing the 70mi. First time going out there so this recon is super useful. Looks like an awesome and fast course!
Your going to have a blast the 70 is a solid course as well, they picked so many good roads and left so many not great ones out. Even with all the elevation I believe its going to be a fast race its an epic place to ride.
Thanks for watching 🙏
4:45 such a nice montage, let's go!
I was pretty excited for that section the switch of the road and trees came together well… appreciate watching 🙏
good job guys! 👌
Appreciate it and thank you for watching 🙏
recon full send!!!!
It was a big send 🤙
When is the next recon? Dig these vids, great content, fun to watch and helpful for race prep.
Unfortunately no races around here tell Aug but you can bet theres going to be more re cons 🤙
Pre-rode last weekend and on the big descent, watch out for down tree bits in the shadows - hopefully, bike monkey will clean them up but nearly ran a few enjoying the descent a bit too much!
Appreciate the insight we had some of that but mostly on the climb up not a lot down. Kind of a thing out there though, it seems almost anytime i ride that area theres something trying to make me crash on the fun parts 🤣
Happy I ran with 2.1 Thunder Burts - no flats - ran 28psi and think should have run lower, but I am 190lb - course was rougher than I expected in the first 30M and last sections
Great tire out there if they are a fresher pair for sure, I usually run 30 psi at 160lbs. Thanks for the update hope you had a great time 🙏
Nice1. Lovely course. Super swift sessions, enjoy the race.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Great recon - helped me decide on the 2.1s 650s
Nothing wrong with that extra comfort and peace of mind you can blast through the terrain 🤙
Thanks so much for this! I’m doing the XL and it was really helpful to see the course. I’m reconsidering a pack now due to the climbing and the fact that there are a lot of aid stations. What did you guys think about that?
XL for the win 💪
Thanks for watching appreciate it.
Im pretty used to running a pack and always try to skip aid stations but definitely not having a pack will keep you fresher longer with that amount of climbing and if it ends up being warm.
On that note looks like 5 aid stations and bike monkey does great aid stations so youll be plenty stocked 🤙
planning on the 70 course, think i'll be okay on 40s?
I see no problems running a 40 just keep an eye out for the deeper pockets of gravel descending bear valley 🤙
Enjoy the 70 is as well pretty epic
What size tire did you end up riding for this ride?
I ran 2.1s, steve 47s and erik ran 50s 🤙
3:50 track name?
