Burtucky people enjoy their freedom, as evident by the many dispensaries, and gun stores that are in close proximity.. I settled in Grand Blanc in 1993, and have worked in Burton since 2000.

Moved to Burton Twp in 1953 (my parents built a house in a small development between Lapeer Rd and Lippincott a few blocks west of Belsay Rd). The Christian school on Belsay Rd near Lapeer Rd was the original Bentley School (K-12). Moved to Grand Blanc in 1958.
Hope that Meijer has security guards now. My friend got a broken shoulder and arm from having her purse ripped off her body. She wasn't the only person that it happened too. Paul's Coney island used to be good w/a 2.99 breakfast and. 99c Coney's. Goodwill had a nice store there too next to GFS. Back when Courtland mall down the road was active. Days gone bye. Did you stop at starlite? Further down center road.
To the right of Lippincott after you turned left off Center Road, there's some small neighborhood streets, one is called Evergreen Parkway, at that corner were two small buildings that at one time were single classroom schools......I went to the one that was at that main intersection, then the corner where the second one is located is cornered with the street that I grew up in the 60s & early 70s before I moved to Davison in 1972......sadly, that old neighborhood on Providence Street has really gone down hill since I left......used to miniature golf next to Southmoor @ Tropical Falls......sad indeed to see it go......had you gone just past the Center Road/Lippincott Blvd. on the Center Road side, you would have turned left onto a small side street called Providence Street......I grew up in the 60s about 2 blocks down that street @ the corner of Providence & Dexter......
My parents' old house was in Grand Blanc Township, just down the road from Burton. They moved out in the late eighties becasue there was apartment complex on the other side of the creek from them and they always heard sounds of kids fighting.
"Burton, Michigan Is An OK Flint Suburb." Have you been to Burton, Michigan in this millennium? This is one of the most blighted slums in the United States. In 2012, the murder rate in Flint, Michigan reached nearly 1 in 100! Steer a wide course around this place folks.
It's interesting that Flint declined so badly early on as a region that you now have older "inner suburbs" bordering Flint that have been stable or declining for decades now but are still in large part rural to semi rural communities, with just a few more prosperous outer suburbs to the south and east, and then a semi affluent rural to semi-rural/barely suburban rung around the Genesee county periphery.
The company I worked for rebuilt most the porches and sidewalks in Evergreen Regency back in the early 80's. Even back then we had to carry "protection" because of so much violence. It was a very long summer.
