If you've seen the initial walk around in the previous video just skip to 10:10
Enjoy!
I contacted Ivan. He's moved his new videos to a new UA-cam channel named "Ivan's Barn" and there's a new video available now.
See Shed Racing with Ivan and a 2 stroke mini prototype!
One of the best car reviews I’ve seen in a long time.
Issigonis was a genius. So dare I say is Ivan’s Shed
No, Ivan Didn't Abuse it, he used it. And if something Breaks he's the man to fix it or even Improve it..!
😎
So True!
We haven’t seen a video in a while, please tell Ivan is ok
Try looking at Shed Racing
Ivan's new chanel is called "SHED RACING" new content is being posted there if anyone is interested in seeing more!
Absolutely awesome, so much respect for Ivan 👍
Absolutely agree Keith! Fantastic insight into '59 minis.
And that, ladies and gentleman is why the mini is such a legend!
i could listen to ivan all day great knowledge brilliant video top quality driving and a great bloke
Ivan the quintessential Gent,
Drives it like he stole it.
Brings back memories of cars gone by especially when he passes them in that Mini like that, one of my favourite car's after owning three of them.
I had 4 and yeah , A shame they kind of get battered by nasty roads of late . Still ...unless you owned one you'd never know what a blast they can be eh ?
Ha, ha I had three too!
My favourite car by miles - I've owned so many others I have trouble remembering them all now. But not the Minis! I want another...
(To match Jay above)..
@@martinda7446 Agree with you Martin ,I've had 5 ,the last one in ' 87 and realised when sold I'd made a terrible mistake, late in life have discovered a ' 62 unrestored Mk 1 with just 37k miles . Original paint and incredibly sound, will leave it just conserved !
@@Roger.Coleman1949 Wonderful Roger. The early ones are magic.
😍😍😍
Let's go for a thrash and hope the rivets don't break , Ivan your a star .😄
How to cure a Racoon's constipation, brilliant !!!
Making older people retake their test, reading the road and the right line through the bends, wide in tight out, always watch the vanishing point, I'm still riding motorbikes, these skills only come with experience and age, never stop Ivan👍
Couldn't agree more with your comments David and so am I !
I miss your videos Ivan & team. I hope all is well 👍🏼🇳🇿💯
In the very early 70’s I lived in Scotland where they still had proper winters and drove a Mk1 Mini. One morning I spun the Mini on ice and whacked the kerb, I crabbed my way to work. On the way home, I spun it again and hit another kerb, it drove straight as an arrow again after that. Wonderful tool, wonderful times!
Ah de magic 2 kerbs method!
Wonderful stuff!! You're so lucky to get this time with your grandfather - and he with you.
Aaaah, yes.
What a wonderful thing to do, help your quite remarkable and excentric grandfather document a bit of his 'shtick' for posterity and remembrance.
Beautiful.
Doing a good job, entertaining.
Noticed you haven’t posted in a while. Really admire the work you’re doing and I hope you are well and happy. Thanks for the videos!
Ivan , what a real treasure and his grandson so lucky to be able to spend such quality time together , thank you so much for sharing a trip out in the 59 mini , looking forward to the next video
Hes a New channel, SHED RACING,
It's been 3 months since we've had any videos from you guys, I hope you are all ok and just fettlin' with something you'll show us soon. I simply love your British way of jerry rigging things together, and obviously love the Mini.
He’s now at Shed Racing.
Fab video’s Ivan and team! I think we’re all missing your content. Hope you are all keeping well! All the best.
Make sure to check out his new channel SHED RACING
ivans new channel is shed racing
In our family we had an Innocenti J5, an Italian version of the ADO 16...
Where’s Ivan?? I really got hooked on watching his videos. The A-series engine videos were brilliant. I wish I had 1/3 the skills to be able to work on engines like that.
He moved to Shed Racing
Hey love the content and im just wondering if everything is allright no videos recently. Cheers
This had me smiling and chuckling all the time he was driving that mini, long may you continue to do so.
wonderful vid mr ivan. i give it a A++ GRADE. Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.
Considering how bumpy that Road was a Ivans Pedal enthusiasm. The Raccoon did well filming that clip.
Well Done Sir..! Almost felt like I was in the Passenger Seat myself..!
Cheers 😎
The 1 person who disliked the video broke their 800£ glass jar.
What treat watching this going down the road. Ivan handles that car like the pro he is , racing is still in his blood. Thanks for sharing the video.
Much respect to you Sir, you are an inspiration. Wonderful video.
I’d love to have seen a video looking back down the drive as Ivan came through the gate, sideways! 😊👍🏻
Drive it like you’ve nicked it Ivan
Love the videos. Love your enthusiasm. In awe of your knowledge
Why I never ran into ya back in the day I will never know
A true car enthusiast and a gent
💪👍❤️
Great video! Ivan, you know your stuff!
Ivan it’s been some time since you posted all ok you?
Hi Ivan.. been a while sine you've posted a video. Hope everything is OK? Love what you do!
When I got my first Mini..Being a South londoner..For some reason every evening at 9.30 I was driving down the Brighton promenade...
"Through the gate doing 98" 😀👍
Through the gate sideways doing 98 !
Rally drivers are born mad
What a great video. Lucky Raccoon getting a drive out like that!
Absolutely loving these videos, Ivan driving a mini like it should be 😃 keep em coming please 👍
Long time no see! Hope everything is alright.
"I was going to buy a Ming Vasebut I bought a glass washer bottle instead". £800 on eBay.
Sounds like some glass works might make a bit of money making several hundred of them😀
I am getting worried.....No recent video's. I hope all is well.
Is all good? I am concerned about no updates.
Thanks Ivan, now I want a mini with a loud fan, sounds great!
Brought exactly that, 59 red mini in 1969 down in Pompy. Cost 100 quid. Great fun and practical car, much better than perhaps it looks from todays persective. Great in town and found it ok on long trips with four adults. We were smaller back then? Then rear arm bearing was shot but despite the wobble it drove ok for a week or so. Scrap yard bits seemed cheap then and getting a second hand arm was easy. Battery dead, stand with the drivers door open and push the car till running pace then jump in and jump start it, so easy...Things like the sliding window latches didn't work well and sometimes I would come back after parking in town find the windows opened for me and perhaps some small change gone from dashboard tray It even got the wife to hospital when giving birth, just made after many stops. . Later I done a few rolls in a mini. Discovered that the petrol cap can come off and spew petrol everywhere and when landing upside down the motor oil can pour out onto exhaut and fill the car with dense fumes. Finally the roof bending out of shape can cause the doors to jam... Good times but different times from now and maybe different expectations....
What ARE you like! I notic a good tale or two are not wasted on YOU!
Nothing but respect for Ivan. Thanks for all your videos.
What a drive! Thanks for the ride along and giving the Land Rover a run for its money!
What a car. What a man. My first car was a ‘67 850 same colour as yours and I loved it. You sir are an incredible man. Keep it coming!
I had 2 Mini estate cars. The 1st, (white one), soon got taken to the breakers yard, when I saw how rusty it was underneath. But more to the point, (an 850 also), never had the "get up and go" I remember Minis originally had. So I replaced with another estate car ( same colour as this car here) , that was a 1000 model. Also rubbish. The "get up and go" early Minis had,had "got up and went" I felt cheated! Perhaps, although I did have my cars tuned by Home Tune auto maintenance company, perhaps something was worn that ruined the performance? Any ideas, anybody?
So what happened to Ivan?
No new posts?
See Shed Racing with Ivan and a 2 stroke mini prototype!
All right Ivan? I like the spirit how you drive. Hope all is well and we enjoy more videos of yours
I've forgotten how much fun those old minis were.
But my old bones were aching just watching it leaping on those bumpy roads...
I haven't forgotten - learned to drive in a '64 850. A delightful car, but a rust-bucket. Sliding windows, starter button on the floor, no heater...
And we pay good money to drive on that shit!!!
Legend !
no updates for a while hope all is well in the shed.
Nice to hear 2cyl engine running in background
My Parents had a white Mini 850, reg no FOC431L, Dad worked at Morris Engines in Coventry, the first new car they bought, was £650 on the road, £600 list but £50 the Smiths heater as an extra, lol, love your channel Ivan, keep up the great work, from a Porsche driver!
Surprisingly heaters were standard equipment in Spanish Minis from the '60's... what a hell inside
love it. proper way to drive a mini, flat out 👍
yeah only one thing missing , A hump back bridge and a roundabout or two ....😀
Ivan, we've all got withdrawal symptoms.
Please entertain us soon.!
What's happened Ivan? Haven't seen any new videos for a month. Hope all is well.
Love this ole guy! Still gettin after it! Such a great attitude!
Thanks for the ride!
Ivan we miss your videos where are you ? Hope you are doing ok ..and you are well !
Great survivor car.Nearly did a "Vatenen" at the gate.I agree about all the rubbish on verges-Ivan should also star in a "Keep Britain Tidy" campaign
hope everythings alright in the shed
were is Ivan why so quiet . worried :(
Ivan or John or Christian what is the mangle just outside the shed?
Those riveted wheels, used to leak at the rivets, always needed tubing for safety !!
Total legend! Great stuff again Ivan, love the Mini too.
more please
You can take the boy out of the racer, but the racer goes on forever. (With a bit of luck). No seat belts!!! No bonnet!!! Take care, young Ivan, the world needs you...
You have to be on TV . Car racing’s Fred Dibnaah !
Oh God no! TV kills most really great car shows. Ask Edd China.
we also have 1275E clubman mini 1983. will never sell it. always put a smile on your face. your mini sounds mint. love your stories. keep it up.
A bit of a spirited wasn't it? Lol! Good on you Sir!
That rough Mini ride reminded me of a trip I took in 1967 halfway across Australia in a mates Cooper S, running flat to the floor across the Hay Plain of New South Wales at 103 mph, every small ripple in the road felt like hitting a large pothole...
Oh Wow, I Did that kinda trip from Adelaide to Sydney in a Mini in the Mid 80s and that was a Positive Nightmere.
But doing it in the Mid 60's must have been "Hell on Wheels..!"
We drove back via Melbourne and Great Ocean Rd. Which was a lot more fun..!
The Hay Plain is Agony in Anything to be Honest..!
Gotta love a Mini, but Did it all the way. No problems apart from Parking up to Wait for Petrol Stations to Open. Before all this 24/7 stuff...!!
Cheers kim 😎
@@samuraifool912 the Cooper S was brand new, it was a great adventure for two 17 year old mates on their "P" plates, fortunately there were a lot less speed detection in those days, worst thing was the heat on the Hay Plain.
@@gazzafloss Yeah the Good Old Days before too much Danger of getting pinged.
I Had Several minis (6 and a half (parts car..!) Not all at same time, but.
But loved them, Adding Twin Carbs, a Stage 1 Cam, Twin cam chain and Headers with Banded wider Wheels. Front Disc brakes ( essential in my opinion.)
I had one that I picked up cheap because Hydrostatic had collapsed on one side. So being Winter..!
I swopped one side to Shocks. And other side still Hydrospastic. Unbelievably it worked until the weather improved, so I finished the Job.
Very naughty but it worked..!
Wish i still had one...! Thx for the response.
Cheers n Stay well. Kim 😘
the first time I did 100 mph was in a Mini Cooper, in the 1970’s. The last time was in what I drive now, a VW T4 van 😂
@@srp01983 Nice.! Never had the luck to actually own a Real Cooper S.
But did own the Later Leyland Clubman style SS. Which I Tinkered with..! Usual upgrades to Carbs, Cam and Extractors.
She was Killed by an Idiot who turned Right in Front of me. (I did have Right of Way.)
I am now Driving a Ford Capri Convertible XR2 Turbo 1992.
Bought for a Grand. Full of Spiders in a Shed wiv 68.000 on Odometer.
It's not a Mini but FWD with 1.6L DOHC. (Everything Rubber was Buggered.) And I am still killing Spiders. But She's Fun..!
I would still love a Mini too. Greedy Yes. I just love them.!!
Cheers kim 😎
A beautiful little mini❤
Great video Ivan, 👏👏👏 recommended to me by my car obsessed dad, who is a lifelong friend of Ivans
Great little car
What a car... What a driver. Never seen someone thrash a car so smoothly. I'm impressed.
Where have you been Ivan???
Don't miss min 26:45
Spirited fan howling gravel spewing session as hoped - thanks immensely !
Someone needs to take away the raccoon's caffeine... It would help considerably!!!
That Mini seems to run bloody well! Also very interesting to know about all the little details in early cars. I've enjoyed the whole ride till the very end
SO SO glad your Mini Minor doesn't sit accumulating dust in A Museum ! @Ivan'sShed ...
My Hat off to you ! And the roundabout Killer Lives more than most cars do … Beautiful !!!
p.s
My dad Had a Mk1 Escort 1300 Sport in Orange , He put a 5 speed box in it .
I can still remember my Burning arse in the summer against its Vinyl rear seat squab !
Best channel on youtube, please keep 'em coming !, good luck with all your projects
"Eight-Hundred Pounds" ...and Ivan winces.
Rubber cone suspension worked well. Trouble was rust same as a load of cars at the time. Showed the World how a front wheel drive with a transverse engine could work. Well done Issigonis. Car for all people. Sold to cheap though Austin did not make much, needed a modern factory good management and unions sorting out. It’s why we have no car Industry of our own now to speak of. Engineers had their hands tied behind their backs and had to use old parts to keep the price down. Accountants are a tool they are not visionaries. Imagine how many steam engine businesses went down the tube because people said diesel and petrol engines will not catch on. Got to be ahead of the times with your design team and go it. Like the mini. I liked foot dipswitches why did they disappear?
Foot operated dispatches are a great idea, so you can keep your hands on the wheel,! But on some cars you can't easily SEE them to find and use them at night. So they should bring them back, internally illuminated!
Memories of Learning to Drive wiv Dad in his mini. Tense at the best of times.
But 'Don't Wear my Clutch out' or 'Mind my Gearbox..!'
If I have to Change the Clutch you will be Helping pay for it..!!
He was an Ex Royal Marine and was 'Not to be Ignored'.
But I love the Mini and Wish I still had one. But now in Australia they are as rare as Rocking Horse Poop. And Twice as expensive. Sadly..!!
Nice Car Ivan, thanx for the Tour and your Efforts..!!
Cheers from Downunder.😎
My mate used to make 1430 minis using an 1100 bottom end and 1275 head. Then he'd tune it!
Mental.
The first mini i ever owned had a starter button on the floor
O.M.G. I remember this!
Ha, swap the seats round to "Give it a rest" at 62 years old I think the driver seat deserves it. what just a nice thing, never never ever restore it, just use it and keep the patina.
Another great episode. I've owned numerous Minis over the last 40 to 50 years and loved them all and they were affordable. My favorites though were the vans. So easy to work on too.
The channel "ShedRacing"is the continuation of stories with Ivan if you want to see more
I have an original Morris Minor, a 1932 Two-seater (open top) which is a few inches shorter than the Mini-Minor and about 6 inches narrower. The top speed is about 52mph but it's much happier (so am I) at 40-45mph. It has a 3-speed 'crash' gearbox and cable operated brakes. All good fun. Lol.
Seems like Ivan and you had a bust up ! Would you care to give your side of the story ?
it's been a while since last video, hope everything is ok.
I was wondering that also, long time no updates
Love it. It sounds soooo sweet
Overtakes a BMW, how ironic lol
I see this car has an interesting number plate, PO , like POST OFFICE! And I'm fascinated that he also had a Mini with the number plate PTO (please turn over). I'm sure the DVLA unofficially had a policy of having a bit of fun, issuing more Minis than other cars with number plates that spellt things! When I was a boy, I used to get anyone in the car to join me in a game of looking for the next Mini with a number plate that spellt things! The most "popular) ones were ANT, FLY, etc, and other animals! You could "make an old man very happy" (68), by leaving replies, about Minis that number plates that spellt things! THANKS!
My 59 Mini had a registration number of WWO 3. Who knew they would have value in themselves 60 years later!
