We’ve owned a 65 plate 1.5t copper from new. Over 6 years and 50000 miles and no problems. Just servicing tyres and brakes. We plan to keep it another 6 years.
Great video, lots of sense. I've recently purchased a 2020 Cooper Convertible Exclusive - same engine, less sporty bodywork, nice leather seats. It's my second 1.5 turbo Cooper and for the convertible I think it really hits a sweet spot... Fast enough, quite refined but makes a nice noise when you want it to, and decent fuel economy. The cars ride better on smaller rims with bigger tyres, but look nicer the other way around! Agree about the handbrake, but I forgive it because the car is just so much fun!
Great video, I must say we now have our Cooper business edition for 3 months now and still love every km driving it. We especially didn’t get the new display but the oldscool analog version. And put the 17” instead of the 18” alloys because it is just more comfortable.
17" ARE the smartest choice I think, for more than 1 reason. The 18" are less comfortable + they are almost always the RunFlat variety of tyres, which means they offer worse steering/handling. The 17" are already more sportier, as concerns handling, than the 16", while not too uncomfortable. You also save money with the 17". If car agility and nimbleness are nothing to you, than the best choice are the 16"s.
@@ikarugaxx3749 the 18s handel better if you drive like your on a track everywhere, as i do! :) the 17s give to much roll in the corners if your blasting in 🚀🚀🚀. I test drove both the cooper s on 17s and the jcw on 18s, ended up ordering a jcw with the premium plus pack and optional £700 18'' alloys in rooftop grey, came upto £37k hahah but atleast i know im not getting overtaken by a better mini
Great review, thank you. We had a 2006 Cooper and loved it from new for 6 years. I’d stay the latest version feels weightier in the controls and how it handles and steers, more grown up perhaps. We recently bought the same version as yours but with a manual gearbox. I’m regretting this now as the clutch is incredibly stiff and the front of the seat is too high to get comfortable. Fortunately it hasn’t lost any value in the 6 months of ownership, so we’re going for the auto.
I’ve had a cooper s auto F57 now for the best part of 4 years now and I have no problem with the hand break and arm rest , to me it’s the best and smoothest car I’ve had
Each to their own. I’ve driven about 30 different cars this year so far and I just found the armrest thing to be annoying compared to others. But as you say overall a really nice package, and really nice to drive day to day.
I always loved the design of the latest Mini, especially with the porsche-like LED headlights and the union jack in the taillights. I would go straight for the JCW to get as much fun out of it as possible :)
I have come from a 2017 1.6 Turbo Fiesta ST into this car, the Cooper Sport 1.5 Turbo and honesty performance wise, I'd say it's a complete match! The Mini Cooper 1 5 Turbo with a 0.62 time of 7.9 is easily hatch performance 8 years ago so still plenty quick enough....
I’ve owned a cooper s auto F57 for the best part of 4 years now and have no problem with the hand break and arm rest to me it’s the best car and smoothest drive I’ve owned
Nicely done review. I have one of these Cooper Sport LCI2 DCT and it is a seriously nice car. It's my 4th Cooper with the 1.5 T engine which is superb. Just two things to mention, it's a 7 speed DCT not an 8 speed and the Cooper Sport does come standard with the Adaptive Suspension.
Thinking to get a new Mini Cooper S. Most of them are equiped now with the automatic transmission. I am also living in a big city. Heard only good things about the auto. What do you guys think? What is also more reliable? Thanks
I got the impression the handbrake was signed off as an electric version but logistics and supply chain delays forced a reversal back to a manual handbrake….
Unless your doing handbrake turns, I should imagine it’s a gripe. I just use the foot brakes it’s easier on the dual clutch automatics on stops at the lights, saves on wear.
Nice video.its the first review where it felt truly authentic. As an example, it's the first I've heard about the misaligned dash (mine has the analog dials that I choose deliberately) and it would be a real serious problem for someone like me , who has a kind of OCD. I have a 2021 Cooper in black and its amazing. thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video it was very insightful. I was just wondering if the fiesta that you're comparing with at 8:45 is the st model. I currently drive a fiesta st3 and I am quite tired of its stiffness. I still want to have a lot of fun going from A to B but I would like something a little bit gentler on the daily.
Even the standard fiesta is fairly sharp. Id say ride is probably similar, although being based on a 1 series you’ll probably find the mini nicer to live with day to day. But if you’ve ever driven a mini thats a bit older (like my girlfriends 2007) this one is much more comfortable and soft in comparison.
@@ItsDanLatham alright thanks for the reply. Seems like fiesta is a bit more on the rough side with a torsion beam rear but it is just such a playful thing. Mini might still win my heart with its character though.

Thanks. Older driver but found your video really useful. Pick mine up in a week
Congrats! I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for watching.

They look cool don’t they. Nice vid
Thanks mate appreciate it. Definitely one of those few ‘ordinary’ cars that turns heads.
Cracking review. You talk a lot of sense, very polished performance. Nice one. 👍🏻
Thanks Darren!
Really useful & informative video review - thanks! Helped me decide to choose the Mini Cooper over the S etc. 👍
I am getting a British Racing Green Sport on Wednesday can't wait 😁

I did wonder about the transmission, you’re right, its the real JCW that has the 8 that I was thinking of!
@@ItsDanLatham No problem. Good review mate 👍
Can someone tell me if the Cooper sport 1.5 turbo has a stiff clutch .bought a 2019 model ....is this normal.....its very fast.!!

Most excellent review my good Sir.
Many thanks and greetings from the Netherlands
Thanks for watching!
I’ve just ordered a new mini after having a 2017 Vauxhall Adam. I got the Mini Cooper classic in the new colour zesty yelloe
Enjoy it Emily!
Good luck with it Emily ..you will love her ! ..Minis are Family …

Good to see you back!
Thanks mate!
you are right about the handbrake. i have the gp3 and thats my gripe about the handbreak

I have just got one and I love it
Nice video Dan, I really enjoyed it. I wonder where you were driving. It looked like Leeds but I might be wrong there.
Thanks! I’m based in London 👍🏻
Well done - good review!
Does the timing chain still have the rattling like the older ones?
good review!! worth the watch
Appreciate it!
do they have puddle lights on the doors?
I hate that front screen..a classical set up is better
I have the JCW sport version. its very, very fast ,..my wife refuses to drive it.
These can easily be remapped to match the power of the Cooper S
Nice video, currently have a 2017 Cooper but want a 2021 S in Enigmatic Black with Apple CarPlay and Adaptive Cruise Control, but my lord the £ 😩
Just buy the new cooper 3 doors, enigmatic black
A car can never be to fast.
What is up 🤷🏻♂️
?
I've got a 2021 cooper S
Can't wait to get rid of it...
One of the worse cars I've even driven in my 2 decades..
Why?
