I was at the 2004 grand final as was behind the goals before Lynch tee'd off. Wakelin was constantly jamming his finger in lynch's date. So I don't blame him.
Sometimes you wonder at what point do we start bringing criminal charges into play? If you're breaking a guy's jaw so severely he can't eat solid food for a month then I think at the very least a court case is warranted.
That won't happen until the people who watch the game lose the mentality that fighting during a game somehow makes you more manly and is "just part of it"
Gaff still the unforgiven. A Freo supporter. He did feel remorseful though, I'll give him that. He did miss the Grand Final, but Brayshaw's Mum had to watch that. Think I'd have hopped the fence and given Gaff a taste of his own medicine if I was Mum hahaha, s'pose wouldnt help but still....
5 year ban on 2 Carlton players prior to the 1909 finals for allegedly playing dead. 1 came back after his suspension. He was a 3 time premiership player and considered a star of the time
just a slight corection - Phil Carman received 16 weeks suspension for his head butting the boundary umpire + 4 weeks for striking Gary Sidebottom ( a total of 20 weeks)

Barry hall ended up breaking his hand or arm in that game, so he would have been out for the bulk of the suspension anyway even if he hadn’t punched sacker.
Should have deregistered some of these boofheads. Barry Hall, that was a blight on the game. I remember that going around the world. An utter disgrace. 🇦🇺👎🍺
Some players, like Toby Green and Buddy Franklin, are thugs and will never change. But others convicted of foul play, were provoked. Staker harassed Hall beyond the point of sanity: he literally asked for a fat lip.
Almost all defenders do that sort of stuff. Just coz he is getting a touch on and not giving hall his free space doesn’t give hall the right to knock him out. Should’ve got a criminal record for that hit

Leigh Matthews hit on Neville Bruns was the only on field incident that had police involved I think
I can still remember watching Bourke, and the commentator saying..''Hes dropped the umpire''. and...'the boys sick get him off''.

What about Dermot Breraton, David Rhyse Jones, Rodney Grinter? You could pretty much make a video for each of them!
Danny Southern chocking Sumich out was big news. Suma didn’t wake up until he was in the change rooms

Nothing beats Bazza's swat. He was big he was bad and of course he could box.
No he couldn't. He could hit guys when their backs were turned. Don't confuse the two.
The John Bourke commentary is hilarious if you can find the clip. Surprised at no Robbie Muir or Rhys-Jones.
Good old TD nailed Gavin Brown in the 1990 GF, that was a great hit!
Barry Hall only regrets being booked. Psychopaths don’t regret the pain they cause.
