- Queens of the Stone Age - Black and Blue is the Best I Can Do (Roadrunner Anthony Bourdain Movie)
All rights goes to Morgan Neville the director.
When the queens of the Stone Age write a fucking song for you you know you’re a legend.
I have a sneaky suspicion that this song might be part of QOTSA's repertoire of unreleased songs. But still awesome nonetheless...
Watched Roadrunner for the first time last night and I felt emotionally demolished after it. What a one off that man was but also his story is such a simple one about being human, having flaws, having something missing… wanting. A truly human story. Thank you Tony
Gutted me. Such a rewarding watch though.
He was a chess player too, like long=term game in the world. Maybe he had that one problem where you try to step out and you're hoping the camera crew you just sent home will save you. Foolish move Tony.
That breakdown riff in the middle of song freakin' kills.
What a great way to wrap up a hauntingly beautiful movie. This song fit the lovingly, acidly defiant closing to a "T". Would Bourdain have loved it? ("We don't get to know that.")
I hope this song never comes out anywhere except this film- but we can steal and bootleg it all day. The greatest band in rock and roll history since Zeppelin does it again.
If the rumoured new QOTSA album sounds anything like this I will be VEEERRRY happy!!!
It sounds like Rated R mixed with Villains, great!
2 year later - It's amazing.
@@coyoboyo completely surpassed expectations, in times new roman is a cracking album
Hope this makes it on an album
Perfect ending to an imperfect doc about an perfectly imperfect man.
Great song. Great tribute to his friend.
Just watched Roadrunner and loved the small sample of this song that I had to find it. I was a massive fan of the man. It was a hard show to find in Australia. He brought so much joy to my house and sadness. I wanted to go to all those places. I felt his hangovers and left starving while he ate. I hope he is at peace.
What a fantastically, hauntingly rocking conclusion to "Roadrunner". I've watched/listened to the sequence probably fifty times - still hasn't gotten old. Whatever you think of the film - I love it - the last segment including the runup to this song is wonderful.
The breakdown in the middle is so nasty
Please complete and release this song. It’s so good.
It's an angrey song about a specific event, not up for promotion on monetized stuff. The only time I've really heard it is live but very very rarely. This was Homme's love letter to Bourdain which was essentially, "I love you - but fuck you - now we're all broken."
Don't kill yourself, people. Especially not over a relationship or politics.
Watching Roadrunner, just came in for a smoke a beer and a line, loving this movie!
What beautiful changes the tune chooses to do.
Altar boys vibes
This song isn’t on Spotify. Josh Homme should release this one way or the other. The eighth studio album has been worked on since 2019 and should be coming out this year. Hopefully this makes it on to the album. Apparently Dave Grohl is involved with it as well.
Source for all that info?
@@bondedwithpotatoes0076 An interview with Eon Music in June 2019
@@everytimeiwalk you mean the interview with Billy Gibbons who mistook his time recording for the desert sessions as it being a Queens album?
I completely agree! This is one of my fav tracks.
I love this song!
Someone was kind enough to decipher some lyrics on reddit. Here they are, fill em in if you can tell what they are.
I got your written invitation, a beautiful stick in the eye
I get the message you been sendin'
Ain't no good at goodbye
Throw everything away
Anything can be replaced
Chorus
Black and blue is the best I can do
Black and blue is broken in two
Oh what a pain in the ass
When there's love and emotion
And the invisible past
Just a little drop of the ocean
Empty space, empty heart
?
Living in limbo, kisses akimbo
Every single bridge is on fire
Won't be together, no way, never
Too late, done, expired
Second chances are a waste
I wanna bend until I break
Chorus
Thanks to fl0nk11 for updating!!
That was me, haha!
And here are the missing two lines of the last verse:
Won't be together, no way, never
Too late, done, expired
And the first line is "I got your written invitation"
I aint here to break it, just to see how far it will bend...
why can i not find this song anywhere except herr
I certainly enjoyed every moment of his journey. I really got into great cooking through great chefs like him who were bluntly honest, and affectionate about their craft!
The one part the whole film didn't focus on was when Bourdain showed up in Hollywood for "The Taste" and how gut killing that had to be as the man who simply wanted to taste the world, not judge it.
Absolutely love it 😍 can’t wait for new album
Excellent.
Please release this track!
Tempo changes remind me of "Fun Machine"
Top tune, heard in the film
according to the credits, the song is called "The Very Best I Can Do"
Actually the credits say that the "video" of Homme playing and singing along at the end was called "The very Best I can do",. If you watching until all the song lists the tune is credited as "Black and Blue the best I can do" by Qotsa. Cheers
I love how angry this song is against Tony. Those you leave behind deal with the reality of you being gone in spite of how much they love you.
A buddy told me he hated Anthony Bourdain and hoped he wouldn't do another season a few weeks ago. It was all I could do to not want to stomp him out and drag him to culinary school.
Tony is missing. What an honest mofo. More!
Fucking awesome song
Love it! 23,000 views and less than 500 likes?! What in the actual fuck?!
Im seeing triple.
Thats what Joshs music does to you.
Please release this and give the proceeds to a Suicide Prevention charity.
This song fucking rips
Pretty sure that's Dave Grohl talking at the beginning. And the 'Arrgg' timing everyone to come in is typical Grohl. Sounds like he's on drums for this.
I guess you didn't watch the movie. It's David Chang talking at the beginning.
@@timirvine3646 it's the other David actually, both of them are quite the masters in their field.
