sorry for no videos lately, i've been stupidly busy on other projects. mainly, making a game of my own! it's called We Will Not See Heaven, you can find more info here: connorshawva.itch.io/we-will-not-see-heaven
Not a game I’d personally play, but it looks great
Aha I understand
How do u take my full name
that's cool that you went from payday content to making your own game.
I got my enjoyment outta those old vids, keep being awesome and make another doom vid
It's really goddamn hard to express in words (haha kind of fitting tbh) how neat it is to see someone more or less completely understand the story we were trying to tell, so instead I'll just say thanks ::)
oh my god thank you! thank you so much aaaaaaaaaa!!! it really means a lot that you watched, and i hope i did the narrative justice!!!
And what an amazing story it was
Literally the greatest indie game dev has decided to bless this video. Outer wilds is actually the greatest game ever. DLC is amazing too
Just wanting to say Connor this is one of the best Outer Wilds videos I have seen in a long time. It nearly perfectly summarizes the dlc and seriously made me reconsider the Owlks actions. You obviously did your research and I enjoyed every second of this video. You did an amazing job and I am happy to see another person love this near-perfect game
omg thank you so much ;~;
I think my favorite thing about your content is that you’re able to take smaller topics like specific indie games, specific game mechanics, or even waterfalls, and talk about them with such a broad scope while still retaining depth. You really help shine a light on of the tiniest yet brightest stars in this galaxy of an industry. Hope you’ve been doing well in these weird-ass times, and excited for what you make next! (Also thanks for reminding me to play Outer Wilds lol)
At my school we got to interview Andrew prahlow (the person who made the music for outer wilds) and it was a cool experience. Sadly don’t remember much even though it was not too long ago.
Did making that pfp cost you your memories
Genuinely amazing. I can only say thanks for making the essay. The way you transition from a simple recap of the story to a more emotional manner of delivery works wonderfully with the visuals of erasure of knowledge.
you're too kind, i needed to hear this today ;~;
@@ConnorShawVA🥹🥹 honestly wouldn't mind knowing what touched you
We didnt destroy our home planet to build the stranger winston, we've always lived on the stranger.
Godamn, hearing your voice full of passion in this video is kinda great, i have never seen anyone so passionate about a video game. Keep it up Connor!
I just found your content again after a good while and I have to say you sound much more passionate of the topics you talk about
The footage during "the absence of apparent remains" line...
Great to see this kind of content from you! Really missed the way you talk and your video style!
I do sometimes wonder if the reason why the Owelks destroyed their moon wasn't due to negligence or uncaring, but because the moon was just that small. Planets in Outer wilds universe are pretty small, so the moon might only be as big as the attlerock, which means maybe they had little choice.
it's a bit of a self-perpetuating problem to spend your own limited planetary resources for the idea of when will the planet run out of resources- physical space on the other hand, is a concern metatextually left ambiguous by the planets' nonsensical scale. i could see it being a real issue, but it isnt implied to be a problem elsewhere in the fiction, so i didn't really consider it part of the game's scope.
that said, every doomed idea has a lot of good reasons people justify working towards it: 'what if we run out of space?' is a real concern, but also a talking point of people who think overpopulation is dooming us rather any faster than we're dooming ourselves. i'd imagine a lot of owlecks were worried about running out of space, but the more resource you take, the less space is habitable.
WELCOME BACK!!! Been with you from the start and watched almost every video!!!
Oh dang of star Connor the shaw makes videos too
9:51 I see what you did there with that pun on a VR world as an escape and "Meta"-phorical ;)
This game and DLC is so good. Its so hard to recommend this game because you cant tell them how good it is without being extremely vague because anything is a spoiler.
"Trust me bro" isnt a good argument lol.
This is a great analysis of the DLC, it somehow makes me feel nostalgic to a game I played just this year.
I love your videos so much dude you deserve so much more subscribers. Keep up the great work
Loved this video. Found you recommended in the comments of a lead head vid
As someone who's watched your channel since your Payday 2 days (Ouch, I feel old now), it's truly interesting to see someone like you that explores games and their respective story elements, gameplay, the game's respective expansions and so on, talk about Outer Wilds, simple and to the point, nice video as always!
It’s kind of funny, because using the code of the game, speedrunners found codes for each of the locks to the vault, so you can actually visit the prisoner and make it to eye in the same loop, (also you could try all the combinations) (also also the prisoners body is the only thing in the real world vault, good attention to detail even though 99.99% of people won’t see it), but I get what you mean of course. Also there is one fire without corpses (but you got rid of that to make the story simpler)
12:30 Sorry to be the acksually guy briefly - but while incanon there is no way to learn of these codes other than the player character bruteforcing the passwords through their infinite timeloop, the vault can actually be opened by datamining the codes that are programmed and hidden in the game's code, in order for the mechanism to actually make sense and also for speedrunners to include meeting the Prisoner in their runs before trying to rush to the ending.
you've earned one point well done
9:45 "Not to get too Meta... Phorical." I see what you did there.
*Return of the king*
I love this game so damm much
HOLY SHIT
Erm, actually it has words in the beginning and ship log ☝️🤓
I'm sorry
*Return Of The King* X2
👍
WELL SHIT. Your an excuse to why imma purchase myself a guitar fot my b-day and commit to learning it. Gotta buy this game first though and i need to stop spoiling myself on content.
5:15
just a heads up but Solanum is a female Nomai and is referred to with she/her pronouns
i said she?
@@ConnorShawVA the j sound in "knowledge" and the sh sound in "she" sound similar already, plus you kinda slurred the two words together.
