I also have raw gameplay from the latest build of the Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha on my channel (Note: all assets/game subject to change). I always wished the skills became more visually powerful the more you donate points to them
Good idea. I’d be nice to see some actual changing as you “master” the skills of your choice instead just higher numbers.
D4 is going to have this.

The soundtrack really makes this game work. Without it this iconic feeling would have never been created.
I remember first playing D2 in 2008 and having my mind blown away by the graphics and atmosphere. Yes i was still impressed by the graphics then. If it had been these new graphics it wud have been 10 times more intense.
Also even with the updated graphics, the dark atmosphere is still there which is a huge plus. Dark,grim and moody has always been the diablo experience prior to d3
They need to 'thicken' the skills, make them look more powerful. Thicker lightning bolts are fearsome, whiter bolts burning through hordes, more violent fireballs/fb explosions. Blizzard needs to seem more climactic/fearsome. These are higher level skills that will be used often, they need more 'umph'
That being said, its going in a good direction, just don't be afraid to add more fire, ice, a dangerous looking lightning to combat hells demons.
The lighting spells are problematic to me. They feel like they are just tingly or shocking. Instead of white burning power. Lighting bolts are supposed to be hotter then the surface of the sun .. I want the thunder bolts that come down from thunderstorm to incinerate the people it hits.. and cause a huge crack not a static tickle
Old lighting skills felt more powerful for some reason. Fire skills had the best visual improvement. Fireball, Hydra and meteor are just wow.
Probably because they looked thicker and a nice flashy white, these new ones should be white too since afaik lightning is white, but i dunno, game looks awesome either way

I would definitely amp up the fireball explosion. It is juicier in the original.
its less "voluminous" i guess.. liked the old thunder animation also more.

We can all agree that those grass are the real champions. Never seem to burn.
Pros: Lightning looks like lightning. Cons: No fiery effect on Enchant (classic at least made your weapon red)
I was just thinking that lighting looked kind of lame. For one, lt looked slow.
Overall amazing. I do think that Blizzard and Lightning could use a little more visual punch.

Lightning effects should be thicker and white.
I love the color of the lightning.....an Electric Blue.....but I suppose it's not as Flashy (well some of the spells aren't).
The original D2 had the most intimidating lightning effects I've seen in any game. Fields of charged bolts by beetles and lightning enchanted, and streams of lightning by gloams.
Yeah, while I like how some lightning spells look, they need to be beefed up a lot. They aren't currently intense enough, whereas in D2 they felt forceful and destructive. Some of the lightning spells feel pretty weak. Also, blizzard for cold spells is lacking in force.

@@tomeeekcz and the world of video games lightning can come in a variety of different colors. Regardless of what it really is I still like to color that should move that's all I'm saying.
They should fix how lightning and blizzard spells look like
All of the skills look good except the blizzard. Looks like a minor snowfall instead of an actual blizzard.

I mean, it's literally a HD version of the original which looked like a slight snow fall too, so what did you expect they tried to stay faithful to the original as much as possible with few minor changes here and there. but hey, feedback is a thing so maybe we'll get a Diablo 4 leveled of Blizzard if people give enough feedback.

I never thought i would say that but there's something more "powerful" about those old skill.
The old lightnings were looking much more brilliant - the white high energetic glow is completely in the new ones!
+they screwd the inferno spell!
I used to love when a high level sorc would come cast enchant and you could one shot everything
It's pretty hard to do fire well, but I gotta say that they did fire really well.
Wow, this is looking good! I think my only complaint was Inferno. It just seemed...bigger before? You know the scene from A:TLA when Iroh says "Want to know why they called me The Dragon Of The West?" I always pictured it something like that.

That meteor looks like it has more impact than any of the D3 versions
5:35 no this is supposed to be a lighting bolt. They are very loud. This is like a cat sizzing
New hydra looks awesome... not quite the D1 version, but no longer MADE of fire like in D2. I like it.
My only gripe is that lightning is D3-style blue, instead of D2's blinding white. But I guess white lightning would look too two-dimensional for this look. Still, could be bigger.
Enchant does not change the color of your weapons?

Fireball, all lightning, blizzard, ice blast, should be bigger/thicker. Meteor, hydra, thunderstorm, frozen orb, looks very nice!
I would add a flame effect to ones weapon after enchanting
Maximum range of teleport is much further than before, huge buff
because they changed the teleport range to fit widescreen play, og diablo 2 was 16:9 so the teleport had to fit within that space

While I prefer the original white lightning, I think the nova actually looks better in the remaster.
Yeah the blue feels off, looks fine but I'd prefer white.
Personally I want it to be white with blue overtones.
when this game comes out, you go frozen orb sorc into engima hammerdin and then build PVP chars.
It feels like all frost projectiles look the same now. I can barely distinguish one from another.
That's one hell of a fireproofed grass. Also that thatched roof must be from asbestos.
Everyone has been complaining about the lightning look but how does no one see how ridiculous she looks when casting every spell? Why does she put her whole body into it? Raising her arms over her head, bending over and casting - it looks absolutely ridiculous. She looks like she just learnt the spells and needs to put her entire being into casting them when really it should look effortless. Out of all the feedback people have given I have not seen one person mention it and I REALLY hope they change this. It makes her look erratic and silly.
This is a remaster of the original game, the old engine is running underneath this reskin. I don't think they cound completely change the animation without changing some code, which 1. may be impossible since the original was lost, and 2. Would piss off a lot of purists who want the game as close to the original as possible.
@@jaredcrawford923 I agree 100% but as someone who never stopped playing the game to this day I notice a huge difference in spell casting movements. The sorceress lifts her arms quickly in the original and sort of leans a bit forward - its very quick and pixelated haha... in this version she almost crouches, completely leans into the spell casting and it just looks so stupid. Ugh.
@@mbrombert Maybe your cast speed on your character is higher than on the one in this video?

@@kyle9401 I honestly think I am the only one who is seeing it hah! Oh well, cant have everything - its all good. I have not played it, only talking about what I have been watching. I honestly think it is terrible. However, most of her spells look pretty damn amazing.
@@mbrombert haha I get it. There's more detail in the remake and his cast speed seems pretty low, so yeah the animation is gonna be slower.

Yes. Some streamers even raised a substantial possible issue with that in PvP.
Blizzard could look more deadly.. now it is more like a cozy snowfall on Christmas night.
Also lightning spells looks worse for me. By worse I mean it does not feel like it has the power of a lightning. I know in the original it looked like a big blurred white worm, but together the sound it felt like if I would be close to it I would feel the wind of it's speed and power (like when you stand close to a truck passing by).
Now it looks like the sorc conjures a few white strings out of her wand.
The cold armors need some work... where the original animation felt like a seamless flow, the new ones look more like a hard refresh.

The Lightning looks a bit weak and fire isn't quite bright enough either imo. Seems like it should light up the walls and objects around it more. And the cold spells...man wtf

Ice skills should have a darker blueish look, not that soft blue. Light and fire skills are quite okay, although they could undergo some minor changes. Positive surprise was maybe Nova, thunderstorm and Hydra. Less good the Blizzard animation and the frost nova.. Things are on a good way though.
why hero always has the same animation?
for example in Dark messiah of Might and Magic - small fireball was from the finger and big fireball was from two hands - the details, that's what for we like the good games.
I wanna to see more modern and usefull spell casting system where you can bind spells to numbers.

Lightning spells need a lot of work. The bolts are way too thin and lack the powerful look of the originals

The animation is the same for all skills. I expected different for some skills. Only the particle effect are different.

Lightning skills are looks less impressive. Would be better make them more brighter and stronger.
Imagine going through hell mode and you meet a boss with magic immunity... Hahahah
Is there? Sorceress skills are basically elemental, not 100% magic. Usually unique boss will have fire, poison, lightning and other immunities, but only at certain percentage. Like your hero would also have immunity toward fire element by, let's say 25%. Same with the bosses.
