DQ8 is the best among the DQ series. The stories, the animation, the music and bgm and even the VA is a wonder and amazing. DQ8 is is the one that introduce the DQ series to me and I don't regret a single penny of my money from spending on this series. DQ11 is amazing but I DQ8 is a masterpiece.
I agree with that. Sometimes I think its just nostalgia talking through me ,but the more I think and play DQVIII I it always gets me the gameplay, the world ,the music, the character are so charming and the Animation it fits so well.
I personnaly prefer DQXI but this one is a VERY close second. Hope one day they release a complete version tough with the graphic and music quality of the PS2 version combine with the added content and QoL of the 3DS version.
@@mattnite7143 I would argue that the real opinion here is that 8 is the best one ever. Story, graphics, character development and mechanics-wise, 11 is vastly superior. only in the music and flying department would 8 hold a candle against 11, and after 11s not the music anymore I'm afraid...
@@luigi-1545 I think you just don't like 8 personally, which is fine. To me and many, the characters are all phenomenal, the vo, bgm, and graphics are outstanding, especially considering their age. The story is absolutely fantastic. 11, MOSTLY just copy pasted music from other games, and while it does have a good roster, a few party members are just "ok", and the story was very mediocre for the last arc of the game, which is yes, the canon finale. Everything that happened in act 2 they just undid cause they could, which did kill a lot of the story. DQXI wins in accessibility and sales, and is by no means a bad game. Matter of fact it's top 3 to many, but it's not just better than 8 in every way.
DQ8 super moves Hero: Big "Fuck You" Dragon Angelo: Styles on opponents face with an omnipresent moon Jessica: Love Typhoon??? Yangus: call a bunch of old people to trample over the enemies I love this game
Shit, this game really breathes life into the imagination we had in classic DQ. Like, I never imagine Multifist to look THAT good. The choreography is great for an old, classic game.
@@LimitedEyeMy first playthrough of this game with postgame as a dumb kid with no solution took me over 150h, so yeah short game my ass 😂 I'd say the DQ games have been bigger on scope since VII, VII, VIII, XI and even IX were massive games for their respective times, I guess to compensate we get less games per consoles than before ^^
It would have been nice to sww new skills from the "new" characters from the 3DS version, but it's still a really good video. I think it's the first time that I found a Dragon Quest VIII Skills video in HD ahah. Thanks a lot. :)
Did you know some of the animations are different between original JP version and int'l version? Angelo's Pearly Gates and I think Jessica's Serpent's Bite were changed outside of Japan
I think it is because the japanese version was NTSC (60 fps) and the european was PAL (50 fps). But to be honest i am not sure because i guess the game is working in 60 fps. Sorry for my bad english
Pearly Gates was changed to make the skill seem less like religious imagery (since it makes the shape of a cross) and I think that Jessica's Serpent Bite was changed because it causes flashing light effects but I'm not 100% sure on that one
The Super Saiyan was only made for the PS2 localization, most likely to try and attract Western players familiar with Dragon Ball. That form didn't exist in the original Japanese PS2 version. The 3DS version in all regions is based on the Japanese version, which didn't keep any ideas from the Western PS2 release aside from the VA work and orchestrated score. So no Super Saiyan in the 3DS version. ;w; I know it was already answered, but there's a lot of reasons for why this and that happened lol.
@@SweetyMiki I see no good reason for them not having included it in the 3DS version when considering how much it has been loved by fans, but bad decisions being made is not surprising.
6:16 pearly gates isn’t worth 100 skill points in charisma lol it’s crazy how this game prioritizes staff with him, maybe bow, and whips for Jessica’s twin dragon lash 4:52 to outdamage the party somehow when her other physical moves are weaker, even early game given 23 skill points. Barrier helps with Jessica’s staff if you have DQ4 Psaro flashbacks is needing insulatle lol. Also 3:30 underpants dance may be a good way to finish humanity with Yangus as he doesn’t have many abilities for all enemies.
I just love reading comments on these kind of video is just shows the strenght of nostalgia... all those " DQVIII is the best ", come on guys, you lowkey only ever played VIII, you're irrelevant, at best you might have played IX or XI and that's about it. And as someone that has not started with VIII, I 100% relate to that.
As someone who has played all of the mainline games in the franchise barring the original 1 and 2, and of course the ever elusive 10, 8 is the best and 11/5 are 2 and 3 But of course, that's the power of opinions
@luigi-1545 you probably started on 11, but honestly it's a fair opinion, it's a very good game. 8 is still better, in my opinion, funny thing those are, but yeah, good for you
Time line:
Hero - 0:00
Yangus - 1:57
Jessica - 3:47
Angelo - 5:43

the animations are way cooler than in DQ 11
Yeah.I also like them more. The team moves are cool in DQXI,but they are just cutscenes with the same background.
DQ 8 is the pinnacle of DQ. Not only the animations were better. The game was made with a lot of passion.
I strongly disagree. Dq11 looks and feels like a completely modern game. This looks like a game I’d run on my microwave or maybe my printer
