  • A technique I use to make it easier to program the MC-202.
    Spreadsheet on Google Sheets:

This is brilliant. My 202 has been sitting in my draw for a few years. Not anymore. Thanks

You make it look so easy. Im never a fan of tiny lcd screens. However the sound is amazing without a doubt . Fantastic video.

Yep great analog sound but let down by a tiny display and awkward sequencer. Bought this at a time when these were cheap/nobody wanted!

and then you realise when you get old that the cause of blindness was from looking a big screen all your life.

Thanks dewd, I love your technique and video. I lol'd about the ridiculousness of needing something like this to program the 202, but we totally do. Aces!

Nice video! Just picked one of these up last night - I'm really enjoying the workflow.

Thanks. Great sounding synths these but difficult to program "intentional" riffs until I started doing this. Once the pattern is in you can get pretty creative.

Nicely done! Took me a while to work out the sequencing on a 202 i borrowed, had to use pencil and paper (this document would have been handy when filming!) :D

I was hoping I could use MC202 it in a TAP or REALTIME mod mostly when bought it as a more compact size sh101 replacement, but turned out that it just can't catch a perfect quantize even when taped in a slow tempo!! That is the huge drawback of this sequencer and I was really disappointed when faced this. And it's custom notation of note lengths is complicating it further, 24 is for 1/8note and 12 is for 1/16th etc, which needs some extra patience to adopt. With your well prepared spreadsheet now I'm making nice rhythmic pattern results much much faster and have a fun again, thanks!

got completely used to the 202 seq workflow with time, not ideal but still capable to create multi bar sequencies fast enough. happy with it.

202 is so much fun to program. No really. It is if you know what you're doing.

I don't understand what is going on here. But then I don't have an MC202 so I can only guess at what exactly the spreadsheet is supposed to add to things.
Seems to me that the spreadsheet doesn't calculate anything that isn't immediately obvious without it. You know the pattern, you know which notes are long and which are short, you know how many notes there are in the pattern.
    What am I missing?

Try programming an MC202 then you'll understand
